Hi,

We'll be heading to the Hyatt OC in a few weeks for our first trip to DL, and I was hoping to get some final tips and pointers from DIS'ers who have stayed here recently. What to ask for, what's this I hear about upgrading to a suite, did you do it and how - anything that can help us have a great trip.

Thanks much!

We'll also be staying at the Hyatt OC in just over 3 weeks time (14th June), so I'll be intrested in any answers you get. We've already upgraded to a suite through Virgin Holidays as it wasn't much extra through them, I think it was something like £100 for the week.

Bumping this up to see if anyone has any thoughts they would like to share?

Thanks,

KC :earsgirl:

I stayed there last summer and it is a beautiful hotel. I loved that it was set up amd you can see the ocean from the pool but not the cars. The beach there is great, very clean and lots of room. The only down side is the price of food, but a little drive north and there are tons of choices.

I'm not sure if azlaura is talking about the correct hotel, or maybe I'm thinking of the wrong place -- I stayed at the Hyatt Orange County, which is about 1-2 miles away from Disneyland about 1 1/2 years ago. Probably not as recent a visit as you would like, but I thought it was great, especially since we got it on Priceline for $44. We did have to pay for parking, but it still came out to be quite a bargain. We had a room overlooking the atrium. BF has a Hyatt Gold Passport card (even though we haven't really stayed at Hyatt's very often), and I think that's what helped us get the room we got. We were able to check in through the special Gold Passport line, and even though we got the room through Priceline, they still put us on the Gold Passport floor.

I was quite impressed with the shuttle service to the park. I don't think we ever waited more than 10 minutes, and even though we stopped at a couple of hotels across the street, it really didn't take very long. We also liked that there were some restaurants across the street - we ate at Joe's Crab Shack. There's also a Target kiddie-corner.

I didn't request a suite, but I've read varying stories of the results. It seems like they'll probably charge you for the upgrade. I want to say it can vary between $25-$40, based on what I've read here. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!

That would be one heck of a view, from Anaheim :rotfl: ! But I wonder if you could tell us which Hyatt that one is, Azlaura - we'll be moving to the Hyatt in Huntington Beach, and it would be nice if the one you referred to was our second hotel.

Sorry, I was talking about the one in Huntington Beach. That would be a great view all the way from Anaheim
I hope you have a great time.

PS If you have little ones the area under the pier in the early morning had lots of shells and sand dollars.
