has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress (or the villas)?
have any tips/pointers/don't miss/etc?

Did you like it?...
How does it compare with similar disney accomodations?

oh....i was hoping someone had posted an answer...
i have a feeling no one here has ever stayed there...
i posted this same question about 6 months ago (when i first made reservations there) and no one responded then either.....
oh well....the guidebooks all say it's a great place....so here's hoping....

our family chose to stay there instead of on-site at disney and we were very glad we did. The pool was never crowded. We could swim to 1:00am. The grotto and waterslide was huge. There are also jacuzzies hidden in nooks and crannies around, but I didn't spend anytime in them 'cause there were alway "kissing couples" in them. Nothing lewd, just affectionate people. The fitness facility had a glass wall on the side that face the pool. It looked nice, but I did not get a chance to check out.
You will love the food at the Hemmingway if you choose to eat there--we did. I recommend the grouper. The restaurants do tend to be a bit pricey, so we ate most of our meals with PS at disney. My son loved Camp Hyatt on the days we were not at the parks and I loved the beachside lake and hiking trails. I do not golf, so I did not try the course, but I did go horseback riding. As far as kids are concerned, bike riding, sand castle building contests and crafts were just some of the activities kids enjoyed at camp. The also have game room and babysitting services if you need it. It came in handy when we spent an adult evening at Pleasure Island. The resort is gorgeous and I know you will love it. The atruim is breath-taking and they have a piano bar where the piano looks as if its suspended in the middle of a pond in the atrium area.

We had club level with breakfast in the lounge and afternoon cocktails and food. Our suite was beautiful, very clean with a stocked fridge ( which we avoided because of the prices), and turn-down service. Chocolates and towel animals every night!! We also had an excellent view of Disney from our suite. The service was excellent and they provided shuttle to the parks. We opted to go for a car rental so we could have more flexibility. There is an Enterprise onsite by the way.

Trivia note: A large number of people we met there were European and Australian which made our trip more interesting and adventurous.

Btw, we were there in the second week of July.

wow!...
it does sound awesome...
thanks for answering...
i'm not so worried now...
we're not staying in the hotel, but in the villas (by the english riding and the golf club)...
but we also can use the pool at the hotel....(and all the other facilities)....
we like to have a kitchen that's why i opted for a villa....
and yes we always rent a car (even when we stay onsite)......

we're really looking forwards to it....
every now and then you have to be adventurous.....
we're also going to be there the second and third weeks of july...

thanks again for answering!!!

We've stayed there several times and absolutely love it. It has, by far, the best room (villas) and the most awesome pool that we've experienced in the Orlando area. The big pool is at the hotel but there is a small pool that has a great hot tub right across from the villas.

well this is the first time in 13 years we're going offiste...at least 13 years....
and back then offsite for us meant the days inn suites...
so this should be just a wee bit different...
it's exciting but nervewracking to be taking that step off property....
we've always been really happy with disney properties, so to make a major move like this and be disappointed would be upsetting to say the least....
from what the two of you write it sounds great....
so i'm looking forward to it and crossing my fingers....

hi all, i am curious on how many the villas sleep? i am bringing alot of family mith me and we need a place that sleeps 9, thanks, misty:bounce: :Pinkbounc

there are lots of options in and around WDW that will sleep 9...
it's simply a question of how much you want to spend....
the grand cypress is at the high end....as are WDW villas...
a 3 bedroom at old key west would certainly fit 9 people...
i think the 2 bedrooms at OKW only sleep 8...
i'm not sure how many the 2 bedroom at grand cypress fits....probably no more than 8...but they also have 3 bedrooms...
but as i said, there are much less expensive ways to go if all you're concerned about is housing a large number of people....renting a private house with a swimming pool is much cheaper, though those are only rented by the week as far as i know....

hi, we do have ressies at OKW on the 22nd of sept and was only needing somewhere for the 21st but i just made ressies at sunterra cypress pointe grand villas at 145.00 i am so happy thanks, misty BTW any suggestions on that resort just curious.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
