Hyatt (Good Neighbor Hotel)

Just got back from a week-long vacation to WDW with family. DW now wants to go to Disneyland in March, after a convention in Vegas. Rent a car and drive out there for couple days.

Thinking about staying at Hyatt, one of the Good Neighbor hotels. How's the shuttle service for this hotel?

The Hyatt is nice if you get a kids suite. The shuttle is good, for a shuttle. It stops at a couple of other hotels right near the Hyatt and runs throughout the day/night. I still prefer to drive in when we stay there, though, as I don't like to have to wait for shuttles and then seats! I have used the shuttle, though when my DH is working and has the car. It works well, I just prefer to drive. I don't think you'll have much problem with it.

Thanks. Another ques - how much is parking at Disneyland? I see the hotel is about a mile from the park. Can we just walk it?

The shuttle that serves the Hyatt is great!! We always drive and only used it a couple of times during our three weeks there last Summer but when we did use it, it was always on time and was a pleasant ride.

And even when we didn't use it we saw it pull up (always on time) and leave when we were either in the Starbucks (which is just metres away from where the shuttle stops out front of the hotel) or the Gift Shop to stock up on snacks for our journeys.

And I don't know whether you've stayed there before but if you haven't then you will love it!!! We just booked for next Summer through Virgin Holidays and wanted the Hyatt again but it is completely sold out (well, Virgins allocated rooms anyways) so that shows how popular it is. Staying at the Hyatt makes your DLR trip even more magical!! It's a bit further away from the DLR than some of the other hotels close by but the treatment you receive and the experience you get makes up for it. And I think it's nice to not be RIGHT by the Resort. We walked a few times but it does take it out of you. Definitely not a choice after a day at the park. Just walking there and back for dinner at DD after a lazy day is enough!!

Let us know whether you do decide to stay at the Hyatt and be sure to let us know what you thought when you get back.

And I hope you had a great time at WDW!!! Oh how I miss that place.

It would be a long walk! We've never even thought of walking-I was surprised to read that someone has done it!

I think the parking is up to $9 now at DL, but I don't know that for sure. We have AP's, so we get free parking. I think you may get free parking with certain packages or AAA or something, too, but not sure. simba_one is correct in her comments about the shuttle, though-it was always on time, etc... I just prefer to drive, is all. If I had to pay, I'd probably take the shuttle-but I'd check out if you can get free parking somehow.

Another great thing about the Hyatt, is that there is a Red Robin and Joe's Crab shack across the street-definately walking distance! There's also a Target, too.

We stayed at the Hyatt last year for 4 weeks and it's a lovely hotel, would highly recommend it.
If you like walking, it is in walking distance of the parks, but if you don't like walking or have difficulties then it is a long walk. We liked to have a slow stroll sometimes and just look at the shops on the way and stop to have a coffee or something to eat then carry on to the park.
Theres an Outback Steakhouse across the road and at the back of the Hyatt is an Italian restaurant where we had the nicest pizza ever and we struggled to eat the small sized one, can't remember the exact name but think it was Bella something.
Target is right across the road as is a 99c store where we bought all our toiletries.

It says it is 1 mile from Downtown Disney Resort. So how far is that from the parks. One mile is not much, especially in March when it is not too warm. I mean, we walk more than that when in the parks!

It's more than a mile. Can't remember how long it took us to walk it but it took a fair while. We walk tons in the parks too but after a long day of park exploring the last thing you'd want to do is walk back to the hotel - trust me. I think all will agree. And walking to the parks is easier than walking to DD because walking you have to walk past them to get to DD.

I think if you are only there for a couple of days, you're not going to want to waste your time walking so far to the hotel. If you had longer, I'd try it and see if you like it. If you get the shuttle schedule, you could walk there one day and always take the shuttle back. I still think it's too long, though. It's a straight walk down Harbor, but it's pretty far down-not sure if 1 or 2 miles. Then, you still have to walk up the transportation area where the busses and trams drop off. The other way to do it would be to go down Harbor and then go left on Katella, go thru the Lion King parking lot and catch the tram, or walk all the way down Katella, go right and hit Downtown Disney. These are all still pretty long. To go thru that much trouble, I'd certainly rather take the shuttle. Even if you have to wait for it, you'll still get back faster.
