Hey all,

I just got a great quote for a AAA rate on the Hyatt at the Orlando Airport. Thinking of staying there the night before our cruise and then taking the Disney shuttle to the boat the next morning. Any good or bad reports regarding the Hyatt? Thanks!

It's a very nice hotel, VERY convenient since it is right in the airport. And amazingly quiet, given the location. I have stayed there many times and would recommend it. :)

I can not say enough great things about the Hyatt. The one bad thing is the high price, but if you got a good one through AAA, go for it! It made our trip really easy. All you have to do is get your bags off the belt and bring them to the lobby and not worry about them again except for putting them in the hall in the morning. The next time you see them they will be in your stateroom.

Great! So how does that work? I put my tags on my bags, put them in the hallway, and then the bell staff takes them to the Disney shuttle staff? Do I have to arrange this with the Hyatt staff when I arrive? Do I need to let DCL know that I am staying at Hyatt in order for this to work? We have changed our flight plans, so I need to call them about our shuttle plans anyway.

When you check into the Hyatt you tell them you are with DCL and they give you a paper telling you the proceedure. You will put your luggage tags on your bags and the Hyatt staff gets them to the bus for you. They tell you what time to have them in the hall. Its very safe you will see lots of other bags out there with DCL tags on them.

I don't recall If I told DCL we were staying at the Hyatt, maybe you should just in case.

we have stayed there and it really worked out well for us. When we took the bus over, we were the first busload of people to arrive at the port. I would stay there again.

Like makaylee, I can't say enough about the Hyatt! For my family it is worth the higher price to stay there. Our little ones are entertained by the planes and if they get bored with that we can go shopping at the stores in the main terminal. They have a really nice food court in the terminal but I HIGHLY recommend the turkey bagette from McCoy's resturante/room service in the Hyatt. Enjoy your stay!

We always use the Hyatt at Orlando airport. You cant beat getting off a very long flight and just collapsing into a lovely, clean hotel room. Yes, it is more expensive, but if we had had to get transport to another hotel on arrival, and again on the Saturday morning to get back to the airport for the Disney transportation, then it works out much the same cost.Nat:Pinkbounc

i was so happy to see the posts on this subject. this year we are fling down friday night and staying at the hyatt. booked thru AAA, it is not much more expensive than a hotel in hartford, CT where we usually stay the night before the cruise. a friday flight was much cheaper and we get to sleep late on sat.

my husband will be glad to know that we don't have to drag our luggage with us.

do you pack travel clothes and bathing suits in a daybag or carry-on?

I can only ditto what everyone else has said. We flew in on the Friday night from MHT and on top of being delayed, our luggage was lost. The very wonderful bellmen at the Hyatt helped us out by going down to US Airways the next morning to collect our bags. FYI - DCL uses the Hyatt to house cruise guests coming in from the West Coast, so they have loads of cruisers every week and they really know the drill.

As for packing travel clothes, etc...in a day bag, I heartily recommend it. In fact, what I had done (thank goodness, in light of our delayed luggage), was put everything we'd need for the 1st 24 hours into a smaller wheelie so that I would not have to open the larger suitcases at the Hyatt. So I had bathroom kits, jammies, clothes for FL weather, bathing suits, etc... all in one place. It was the best tip I got from these boards.

Ditto for the Hyatt MCO. We are using them on our next cruise and although pricey, we feel it is worth the convenience. - Mike

I don't mean to be nosey, but could you possibly tell us what sort of a "great" rate you got with AAA. We are booked at the Hyatt in Oct and the best rate I could get was around $160. There was a lower rate for Senoirs and Gov't. rates but neither applies to me. Although I would love the convenience of the Hyatt, I know I could get something else closeby for less than half the price......which translates to more money to spend on the cruise! Anyhow, the AAA rate I found online was higher than $160 so I was just curious....... Thank-you.

The rate we paid was @ $ 125 (Still pricey but lower that what I have seen recently on their site). It was definitely an AAA rate.

You may want to keep checking their Web site from time to time. When I was searching it was around $145 and then one day alll of a sudden it went down to 125. I booked it on the spot. - Mike

We are cruising next February and I keep checking the Hyatt rates. We stayed there the night before out last cruise, and like everyone else, we thought it was great! The best rate I can find is a AAA rate of $152.10. When we stayed there before, I booked the room through Travelocity and got $112. I see now that that rate is the Senior Citizen rate. If only I was a little older!:teeth: None of the travel websites is offering a better rate than AAA's. Since we have so much time before our next cruise, I am willing to wait for a better rate. I hope all of you are able to get a good rate for the Hyatt. Even if you do end up paying a little more, I think the convenience is worth it!

Wow! Thats a great deal! Last year I thought when I payed $130 it was expensive, but it has gone up so much since them, that now seams cheap!

Was it the AAA website you booked thru or the Hyatt's?

makaylee - It was the Hyatt Website and I booked this in September of 2003 for May 7th of 2004. - Mike

We too are staying at the Hyatt the night before our July cruise. While a little more pricey, I don't mind paying more for the convenience.

?? I wasn't aware of the baggage thing - do you need to be using DCL transportation to the port in order for the luggage to be collected? We are using a towncar service.

Thanks!
