Is it really crazy at POP? I was there a few years ago, but with no kids. I have ressies for 4/27, but I'm kicking around the idea of switching to CSR. I loved POP, but I am thinking I might be better off at CSR with a slower pace. Yay or nay?
TIA

I think the noise level depends on where your room is located. We were in Bldg 10 (70s), 3rd floor right on the corner by the 8-track stairway. We stayed from 12/15 - 12/25/06. The resort was filling up during our stay and was probably full by the end. To tell you the truth, we were never even aware that anyone was around us when we were in our room. We rarely met anyone on the stairway, never heard people outside and never heard noise from other rooms. It felt like we had the whole floor to ourselves, even though I'm sure we didn't. I sat by the pool one night until almost midnight waiting for laundry. There were people in the pool and kids running around until late. I was thinking the people whose rooms faced the pool must get a lot of noise.

We specifically requested a quiet location and that's just what we got. We also paid for a preferred location and we were close enough to quickly walk to the main building but not so close as to be bothered by the foot traffic.

The food court got more and more crowded the closer it got to Christmas. And we definitely noticed lots of activity around the resort. But, we didn't have a problem in our room at all. Hope you have a great trip whatever you decide!:)

We loved POP our first two trips but last year we ended up getting an upgrade to OKW. So this year my DH decided that he really enjoyed staying at a higher level resort and had me book CSR. We spent a lot of time hanging around the resort relaxing at OKW last year which I really never wanted to do at the POP. So I can definitely see my DH's point of view and now I'm excited to try CSR.

Since we now travel without kids (boys in college!), we much prefer a moderate over the values. We have nothing against the values in general, they are just not our favorite and we prefer the peacefull, quiet walks we take around the lake at the CSR in the moonlight, the availability of the quiet pools, the spa, the food court, etc.

If you don't need to use the food court it's OK. The area in and around the main building was always noisy/busy this past week.

But our building (80's) and pool (computer) were not crazy. The only time I really hated Pop was when we had to eat there. And I really wanted to use the Hippy Dippy pool but it was too crowded and noisy every time we walked through that area. The computer pool was much nicer.

We were there in January of this year and I didn't find it to be crazy at all. Of course, that is the slower time of year traditionally. We were in the 50's Building #1 - very peaceful.

I would imagine, however, that on a hot day in peak season, the pool area would be pretty crazy. But then again, it's kinda crazy at every resort pool during peak season.;)

The food court was pretty busy, but never so busy that we couldn't find a seat. And thankfully, people were obviously keeping their kids under control - didn't see any crazy toddler meltdowns or any kids just running wild.:thumbsup2

CSR is the way to go. Very relaxing resort!

I can't decide! I know it will be quieter at CSR, and nicer to look at (for my & DH anyway!), but I think I am going to stay at Pop and keep the money that I would have paid for the upgrade and use it for spending at WDW. I have 2 more days to decide. Aak.
Thanks for all of your input!

My DD really loved the the atmosphere at the POP when she was 3 so I'm sure that your kids will also enjoy it if you decide to stay there. My DD who is 6 now wanted to go back to POP this year when I told her that OKW was out of our price range but my DH wanted the more relaxing atmosphere at CSR.

you are going to disney, and want to avoid hustle and bustle? i have news for you, it aint going to happen. just go and you will find time and places to relax, anywhere you stay. and there will be hustle and bustle anywhere you stay also. enjoy, and dont stress over decisions. any way you decide to go, you will have a great time.

The main buildings and the food court are definitely crazy, but like a PP said if you avoid those it will not be bad. The theme for Pop is popular culture, so the music they play in each area is top 40 music that is not exactly the tranquil music of the moderates, but that is what I think is so charming about the resort. I absolutely love Pop because it is so much fun and the experience is definitely worth it.

I'd switch to CSR. We stayed there last September and it was so quiet and peaceful. We stayed in Ranchos and never heard a peep - barely saw any other guests going to and from our room.

The Pepper Market is so much better than the food court at Pop. Better quality food, more selection and IMO, just calmer.

The main pool area is terrific. My kids loved it and the playground area. The pool is so large, it never felt crowded.
