We are planning a trip for September 2022 and my husband has a lot of medical health problems. There will be days that he will not be able to go to the parks, days that he will spend just an hour or so, nor will he be park hopping with us. When I make my revelations how or what can I do about his tickets? I have a package booked and not sure what to do.
There will be myself, our daughter (38), and our grandson (8) on this trip. We are staying at Pop Century, Checking in on Saturday September 10th checking out on Sunday 18th.

So in the old days you could remove him from the reservation for now, he could buy his own tickets separately and then you had to add him back within the 3 days (if I remember correctly) before the trip so he could get magical express, etc. Now that magical express and dining plans are not available, you can still remove him from the package, have him buy tickets for the days he thinks he will go to the parks and still add him to the reservation but do it when you arrive. If you exceed the 2 adults in the room (assuming your daughter and grandson are sharing with you), you’ll have to pay the nightly fee for the 3rd adult once you add him to it. I think the cost varies by resort level but it’s been a while since I’ve done it.

ETA: forgot about the park reservation piece. Make sure you do link his tickets and make reservations for the days he plans to be in the parks. He can add days to his ticket and make reservations (in most cases) if he wants to do more but at busy times it may not be possible to reserve certain parks, so just beware of that.

I’m not sure Disney has any accommodations for that. I would probably book room only and then book your tickets for what you want ( ex 6 days with hoppers) and his ticket as like 3 days no hoppers or whatever he thinks might be the best option.

If you purchased a package that included park hoppers or a specific number of park days you may just get stuck paying for tickets that your husband may not use. You can't transfer his unused days to anyone else and you can't get a refund for partially unused tickets. If someone is in a park for 30 minutes or all day they still use up a ticket for that day. One alternative is to purchase the resort stay and tickets individually and get the specific number of park days you think your husband can manage for him and longer tickets with park hoppers for the rest of your party. You would have to price everything out to see which is the better deal.

If you stick with the package deal, make the park reservations for everyone in your party and if your husband is having a good day he can join you. He may have unused park tickets at the end of your stay but they will disappear at the end of your trip, they don't roll over.

I would consider some mobility options if that would help his endurance and allow him to spend more time in the parks. If he can handle it you can rent an ECV. If he has trouble getting the scooter on and off Disney buses or whatever then your daughter should be able to do this for him. You can practice with store scooters to see how he will do. Go to the store during a quieter time to practice like early in the morning. This may allow him to last longer in the parks.

Another option is to rent a wheelchair and push him. If you two take turns doing it then this might work. Also, he can walk some with the wheelchair empty and it would help his balance walking; it acts like a walker.

You can also use park first aid for him to take a rest. Sometimes, you can even take a nap there if it's not too crowded. You have to feel safe leaving him there while you are gone for a while.

Try to balance your time between shows, rides and eating. Then, everyone can get a rest, here and there.

My logic here is having him spend as much time with all of you as possible in the parks. This way he should be able to use his park tickets everyday.

If there are other issues that can't be helped by mobility devices then perhaps all of you can have lunch at your resort and bring him back to his room and then the rest of you can park hop.

If you have a package I assume that includes tickets for everyone including your husband?
Just make the park pass reservations for everyone and if he cannot go to the park that day then he can't.

Since you have a package booked already, I’ll assume your question is about Theme Park Reservations. If I’m incorrect, let me know.

Make you park reservations for the whole party. It sounds like if he goes into a park, it will be your first park of the day. That is the park needing a reservation. If for some reason he doesn’t go to a park with you that day, no harm and just let the reservation expire (or you can cancel it). If he decides to rest in and join you later and you have hopped, you can try to change his reservation to your 2nd park, or if not available he would need to tap at the first park and then join you at the second.

Only thing I would add to everyone's excellent advice is to remember that between now and September of 2022 there will undoubtedly be changes to how things work at WDW. Keep up with current procedures and rules to help prevent surprises.
