Husband thinks 2 yo DS will be fine at WDW with no stroller????

My ds who was almost 4 last year didn't use a stroller the entire 9 days, but I wouldn't try it with a 2-yo! I have a 22 month old, and there is no way he'd make it all day without a stroller.

OMGosh! Has your DH ever been to WDW? You absolutely, positively MUST have a stroller. My oldest DD will be 6 next month, and she still gets tired, especially towards the end of the day.

Go get your stroller or make DH rent one.

I wear a pedometer when touring the parks, and on an ordinary day, our family would walk *at least* 2-3 miles. My oldest was begging to ride in the stroller by the end of day 2 and my husband would have gotten in there himself if he could've fit.

Physical exhaustion aside, you are going to be a nervous wreck with a 2 yo running loose in the crowds.

Tell your husband to take your son to the mall and walk around both levels about oh - 150 times. That will approximate a morning at WDW.

ok so I think everyone here agrees...stroller is a MUST for a lil one that age. I think this is the only thread I haven't seen ANY differing opinions.

Tell hubby that he can carry DS around all day, then.

I'm bringing a stroller for my three year old, and will rent one for my five year old. Heck, I'd bring a stroller for myself if I could!

Your husband sounds alot like my husband...and yes I think he's nuts. Last October we took our 2 year old VERY VERY VERY Active son to WDW for the first time. At first we were planning on renting a stroller there (to avoid the hassle of taking it with us on the plane) but by reading these boards I decided it would be better to just take our own. Meanwhile DH was deciding that we really didn't need a stroller at all. WHAT?? Don't get me wrong DS very rarely uses a stroller anymore (and didn't at that time either) around here...but this is WDW we are talking about. MILES and MILES of endless walking. I ended up taking the stroller anyway and as we were walking down mainstreet in MK with DS napping comfortably in his stroller I just gave my loving DH a very sweet "I told you so" look...and all was good.

Just my 2 cents, but your DH is crazy. My DD was 30 months when we went to WDW in January for her first visit and even though she loves to walk, not having a stroller would have been a VERY BAD THING. We were able to move around a lot quicker with her in the stroller for one thing. For another, when she got tired from walking, we popped her in the stroller and she napped. A couple of days we rented strollers at the parks and the others we used our own, but it was not an option, it was a necessity.

I might as well jump in!!...I have 3 boys (8, 5 and 3) and they are nothing but energy at home or smaller excursions. However, even the 8 year old got tired at WDW! It's just SO much walking. I couldn't have done it for the younger ones with out the stroller. Stick with your gut (read: common sense!!) and GO BUY THAT STROLLER!

I just bought a stroller for our 4 1/2 year old who is over 50 lbs just to use at Disney! He hasn't used a stroller for years, but I know he'll tire out and I thought it would be so much easier than renting in the parks. Plus, we'll be able to move faster -- your arm gets tired after being pulled on all day. I bought a Maclaren Volo on E-Bay and figure we can re-sell it there when we get home and not lose much money. The Volo is great -- light weight, tall padded handles. My son likes it so much he's been sitting in it to watch TV!

Get a stroller for your son (and one for yourself while your at it).
We are planning a trip in September and will be renting a double every day for DSs 4 and 7. I will admit that when we go to our 'local' Six Flags, I don't get one for my older son. That being said, I wouldn't even dream of not having a stroller for him at Disney and I will keep renting them until we can no longer "shoe horn" him into one.

We were in Disneyland for 3 hours last summer before we decided that we needed to run to WalMart and buy our DD4 a stroller! It saved our trip. After 3 hours, she was already dragging. An umberella stroller won't take up much space. Besides, you will feel better always knowing he is strapped in right in front of you instead of possibly wandering a few feet away and getting lost in the shuffle. I'd insist. Youe DH will absolutely thank you later when you don't have to rent one.

WDW is 47 square miles... the same size as San Fransisco.

Your child needs a stroller!!! When my DD was 5 we rented one for her! It way too much walking. Maybe he's just saying that so you won't buy one. You can rent one if it's a problem. But he NEEDS a stroller.

Let me tell you a little story. Last summer we went to WDW i was there for the first hurricane. We decided to go to Ecpot that morning before it closed. I was traveling with my 2 kids and had a double stroller. We almost never took disnery transportation at the time because it was a large tandem stroller and difficult to take on the buses. The other adult with me was hubby's cousin. We figgured that hey the park is closing early lets not bother with the stroller. HUGE MISTAKE!


DD who was 30 months at the time had a really hard time getting back to the bus and she is a large baby so it is hard to carry her for any length of time. It took forever! After that trip i bought a Mac twin since my kids are over hte weight limit on other strollers and i have been very hapopy since including 2 more trips to Disney and one to the Bronx zoo.

And here in my house my DH absolutely, positively will not allow me to purchase a new stroller this year for 6.5year old DD I tried to buy this really nice double that I had seen on the DIS (it was like a jogging stroller but the front wheel swiveled for $200) but DH finally put his foot down this year so now I'm figuring in renting one for some of the days because I know even though she is a very active child involved in alot of sports, she'll get tired! and of course be green with envy over DD#2 (who is 2) and her stroller!

My dd who will be 3 at the end of August didn't use a stroller the whole 10 days we were there. now granted she is tiny and only weighs 23 lbs, but still, imo it's not needed at all. We did have to carry her if it was crowded and by the end of the trip she would ask, "It not crowded?" cause she wanted to walk. She napped in our arms while waiting for rides, which she wouldn't have been able to have the stroller than anyways. You are not walking tons honestly, you stop and get onto rides. And it is so crowded a stroller is a nuisance.

Just my opinion. Strollers are for babies, not 2 yr olds who can walk just fine.

Do you live near a mall? if you want to convince DH...have him walk the mall with your DS....NO STROLLER...and he must go into EVERY store,
have him do this circuit at least three times and he MIGHT be to WDW theme park level (the morning at least!)
P.S. we're leaving Saturday, and have already decided on a double stroller for my 6.5 and 4 year old daughters!!!

I could not imagine doing Disney without a stroller and my little man IS 6!!!!!
Definately could not do it with my 2 yr old DD!!! Take the stroller!!!!! Tell him it's for when your little one wants ICECREAM!!! No one wants to wear that all day and we KNOW how little ones EAT!!!!
