We were in the emergency room for 13 hours yesterday, because husband could not lift his left arm. After hours of exams and an MRI it was determined that he has a disk in his neck that is pressing against the motor part of the nerve that works the deltoid muscle. At first they wanted to do emergency surgery. Without going into allllll the details, it was decided between his primary doctor and the surgeon, that they would schedule him for surgery in 3 weeks, but send him home with steroids. MAYBE the swelling will go down with this treatment (they weren't too optomistic), but they said it was worth a try. Please send some PD and prayers our way, that maybe this will work and he will not have to have surgery.
