We are staying at the Poly and would like to go to an easily accessible place for dinner before going to MK. Husband doesn't care where we eat and we will have our 2.5 daughter with us. We already have Ohana, Kona booked, but we are open to other suggestions. The Wave and Narcoosee's menu looks good, but pricey and small. I was able to get reservations at all 3, but 1900 park Fare was only at 4pm which is a bit early for us. WWYD?

I would go with The Wave. A character buffet for an adult birthday seems odd unless it is a specific request.[/QUOTE

Well it would be mainly for our daughter who loves Cinderella. Plus the menu looks good and seems like you can get more food for your money there. We tend to enjoy character meals more since they entertain our toddler and she can try lots of different foods. When we order for her, it is always hit or miss what she will eat and I know she won't eat anything we order from the Wave or Narcoossee's so we would need to order a kids meal she might not even eat.

Personally, if it's for your husband's birthday dinner, I'd choose Narcoossee's. The Wave and 1900 Park Fare are both casual and one is a buffet - and 1900PF is a character dinner. That being said, if he loves Cinderella, by all means go for 1900 PF. Food at The Wave is very good, IMO, but I don't think it's a special "birthday" dinner.

The Wave is buffet for dinner? I didn't realize that, thought it was just for breakfast. H doesn't love Cinderella, but he loves our daughter who is Cinderella obsessed haha. I was just a little hesitate with The Wave and Narcoossee's menus since they only look like they have about 10 or less main dishes to choose from, whereas 1900 Park Fare had a much wider selection with the added benefit of having characters. Is Narcoossee's too fancy for a 2.5 year old?

Sorry, no. It is not a buffet for dinner. You responded as I was editing lol. My fingers work faster than my brain when I am typing. The Wave is pretty good food - much more casual than Narcoossee's.

The menus are definitely smaller at those two because they are not buffets. 1900 PF dinner has more variety, but the food at dinner is "meh".

I should add that if it were just H and myself we would pick Narcoossee's, but I am not sure DD will sit nicely and allow us to enjoy a nicer meal. She is typically good in restaurants, but will be off her normal schedule and likely more tired so that factors into the decision as well. However a 4pm dinner isn't ideal at all. We would prefer to eat around 6 so 1900 park fare might be out due to that.

Narcoossee's isn't really fancy. The view of the water is really pretty and it's Disney, so it's kid-friendly. It's definitely a lot more expensive though, since it's a signature. So if you are worried about her not sitting for a longer meal, I'd go with The Wave.

Have you looked at the menus for GF Cafe or Citricos?

I agree with Reagan 117. I was not impressed with Narcoossee. Much preferred the Wave.

I was going with The Wave largely because it is more casual than Narcoossee's and you have a child in tow.

Understanding she loves Cinderella, the buffet food is what it is, which is to say buffet quality is wildly variable. The point of those meals is the characters. Understanding that parents do cater to their kids and find pleasure in them, I think having a slightly more adult meal, rather than ceding a birthday to the young as well, is a good thing. Not everything in a parent's life should be dictated by the preferences of the young.

This a is a personal opinion, of course, but you asked for our opinions!

Of those, I would do the Wave. Narcooosees is really pricey and not worth it IMHO. If your DH doesn't mind characters 1900 is ok. Have you considered Citricos? It's good and not as "fancy" as Narcoosees.

Recent trip ate at both Wave and Narcoosee's and both were really good. While Narcossee's was a bit pricey the portions were more then enough and we thought the food was really good. While it was not child unfriendly it was more a adult restaurant but there were plenty of people with kids but it was was a slower paced meal. If you are worried about daughter Wave might work. Have eaten at Park Fare on past trips and the character are pretty entertaining the step sisters and step mother are for lack of a better term, "A hoot". I think you will have enjoy either but Wave or 1900 Park Fare may suit you better.

Have fun and Happy birthday!!!

I will check out the GF Cafe, thanks! We have done Citricos before so we would like to try something new this time.

The Wave would get the nod from me. Afterwards, its a 10 min walk to MK, GF is a monorail ride(though it can be walked, but is farther than Contemporary). The Wave sort of flies under the radar IMO where WDW eats are concerned

I'm bringing a two year old also and have a narcoosees reservation because I liked the menu. :) we have an early reservation of 5:25 and from pictures, atmosphere looks casual. I also considered the wave and 1900 park fare in my earlier planning stages but decided against it. If your toddler would not eat anything at the wave or narcoosees though, I would either feed him first if those are your DH's preference.

Not to confuse the situation but if you are planning on sticking with dining somewhere on the monorail with just slightly more effort you could use a combination of monorail and boat and water taxi over to the WL for dinner at Artist Point or even Whispering Canyon Cafe if your DH is a fan of BBQ and cowboy silliness. You wouldn't have to worry about your daughter in that lively place (and it's probably more appropriate for a guy's birthday than Park Faire). Another option with the monorail/boat combo would be to treat him to the Hoop De Doo Revue over in Fort Wilderness. It's pricey (a Western themed vaudeville type dinner show), but your daughter would not be charged as she is not yet three.

Went to The Wave last year....it was AMAZING! Had a conflict with a fastpass at the MK and they totally accomodated us! We walked over from the MK. Service was fantastic...and food was awesome! A total sleeper pick!

Have you considered the Grand Floridian Cafe?

Of your present 3 choices, I'd go with Narcoossee's for a special adult dinner.

As a 50 year old husband I would love Narcoossees.
