If we arrive at MCO at 12:30, stop for groceries and then arrive at SSR to find out we can't check in yet, what will we do with our perishables???!!

Buy an inexpensive styrofoam cooler, with a little ice and put it in it?

never stayed at DVC so don't know what they offer but a suggestion would be one of the thermal bags they sell in the frozen food aisle of Wal-mart/Target to help keep food hot/cold. Put your items in there and when you get to the resort if your room is not available, add ice to it and go have fun or buy an inexpensive cooler and do the same. Have a great time.
