Hurricanes???

HI all , a friend of mine is going to Florida on Sept 7th and is very worried about the possibility of Hurricanes! When is the worst time for them please.

Officially, hurricane season is from May through to the end of November, so really a hurricane is possible at any time in this period. Traditionally, September is a 'peak' month, but no-one knows where or when they will hit. There are always predictions, but these are often wrong in the long term.

It's usually coastal areas that are worst hit, so if your friend is in Orlando, it is often bad weather as opposed to dangerous weather. Sorry that's not much help!

We go in september knowing that it is hurricane season, despite this we still go. Simply because it is cheaper and WDW are so prepared for it happening that I would feel fairly safe if one did hit.

So relax and tell your friend to have a great time!

I worried about it so much when I went in September 2005 and we were fine!

Hurricans can happen in september, BUT, and it is a big BUT, orlando is a long way inland, this means they vary rarely get there as a hurrican, usuallyonly as a bad storm. If, in the unusal situtaion where there is one that gets that far inland the hotels are all very well prepared, there will be plenty of warning, there is a weather channel that is very good, and the hotels will make sure that they are fine
