Folks staying in WDW this coming week need to pay attention to weather reports. Tropical storm Fay will probably hit Florida as a hurricane by Tuesday. If you are at WDW right now and monitoring your computer, listen for the weather report this week. The governor has declared a state of emergency, as the storm has the potential for hitting the state as a category 1 or 2 storm. We are making our preparations here on the west coast.

I would expect a lot of rain and some wind, and not a monster spinning buzz saw...

The area actually needs some rain...pirate:

Never underestimate the power of these storms! If you live in the area, or are planning to visit, you should be keeping a very good eye on the news!

Amen to what Mike said!

Corey and I briefly called FL home. We woke up to a Cat. 1 Hurricane coming in on us without warning because it shifted from landfall projections from the bay side to the Atlantic side unexpectedly overnight. We lived maybe 1/2 a mile from the beach as a crow flies. It was amazing to see just how destructive, even a low level Cat. 1 storm could be. :scared1: We survived without any damage other than some wet carpet and jangled nerves. If we had been warned, we would have gone more inland to stay with family, but being right there at the beach was a heck of a ride. I didn't know that glass patio doors could bow in like that. I didn't know that water in the toilets could slosh back and forth like that. I was thankful that our apartment building didn't lose it's roof, like our neighbors' buildings did.

Please, don't underestimate just how bad a hurricane can be!

Yeah, that's a good point....been through a few, but Hurricane Charley does come to mind on this one, doesn't it??

Well the Sunday 5pm forecast is a bit better. Where the 11am forecast had the storm coming in at Fort Myers and crossing I-4 between Orlando and Tampa, the 5pm forecast keeps the storm in the gulf west of Tampa and then it making landfall up the coast in the Crystal River to Cedar Key area. Of course it's way too soon to really know what it's going to do. But this is better for Orlando.

Actually, maybe not.

If the storm stays offshore & hits farther north, it has time to strengthen and Orlando could actually get worse weather due to a hurricane offshore of Tampa rather than a weakening tropical storm over land.

IMHO, the BEST scenario would be for this storm to take a hard right turn as soon as it clears Cuba, head straight across the Florida Straits into the Everglades and start weakening immediately. The longer the storm center is over water, the worse it will be at landfall, wherever that is.

Looks like there is now a good chance that it will be very close to WDW. Anyone on property with a computer hear anything new? C'mon, I know people take their laptops everywhere, including Disney! ;) I know your out there folks!

That's ALL we hear about on the news. (Finally something else besides the Anthony family.)
It's all calm here so far.
Mid afternoon we had some rain. But nothing any different than our usual afternoon shower, that I could see.
I thought some bands would hit by now. But really not expecting anything until during the night or tomorrow. Esp mid afternoon tomorrow (Tuesday).
I believe the parks are opening earlier than usual tomorrow. MK is at 8 a.m. I think.
Guessing the early openings are in case they have to close early, or guests can get their fill and go to their rooms and dry out and rest.
