Hi!

I'm planning on a Disney wedding next summer in Florida.
What happens if a week before the wedding, a monster hurricane makes landfall?
Or even a regular sized storm like Alberto?

Just curious what the procedure is.....thanks!!

I asked my Wedding Coordinator this just the other day. He said that the contract (for a custom wedding) has contingencies for "Acts of God" which includes hurricanes. But it all depends on their strength and timing in relation to your wedding. I know this isn't a lot of info, but I hope this helps!

Any further details or information from anyone would be extremely appreciated....I'm sure many have this same question or would if they actually thought of it!

I don't really know about hurricanes specifically with weddings, but having lived in Orlando during the hurricanes of 2004 I can tell you that Disney is the best place to be if you have to ride it out! They have their own power plant and when every other place (including Universal) goes dark Disney still has power. They don't shut down the resorts due to hurricanes and they manage to keep everyone entertained and calm. They did close the parks for 3 days in 2004 due to hurricanes but I don't think they closed in 2005 - I could be wrong but I don't remember them closing last year? If you're having your wedding at a resort you should be fine. I don't know about the WP? The only real "problem" is if your guests cannot get to Florida because of a hurricane. There was a bride on these boards that happened to, they held the wedding but only a few guests were able to get there. She was married the week after my wedding when Wilma hit last year and I know we ran into problems with our honeymoon cruise, which worked out for us, but it was a hassle.

Don't worry about it too much, there's nothing you can do to stop a hurricane, just plan your dream day and try not to think about something bad happening (I know, easier said than done!). Most of the hurricanes the last couple of years seemed to hit early fall if that helps!

I'm getting a little nervous about that myself, seeing as I will be arriving down there on Thursday afternoon with a wedding on Sunday. i'm hoping that everything is clear by then :sad2:

I think things will be back to normal by the end of the week. Relax and enjoy a wonderful wedding! Best Wishes!

Please don't worry about Alberto - the latest projections are that it will hit much further north. I feel bad for those folks but it shouldn't affect Orlando. http://www.weatherunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200601.html
In my area (about 200 miles west of Orlando) I'm happy that it finally stopped raining today but we're still under a flood and tornado watch.
Yeesh it's only June!!

Best Wishes on your wedding :goodvibes

My understanding is that depending on the force, they will move it up. If an evacuation is needed (most hotels do that during hurricanes) they will reschedule it after the hurricane maybe the next day. There's alot of circumstances to it.
