Hurricane Milton

We’re in Lake County, less than an hour NW of Orlando. As long as our food trailer doesn’t blow away, we’ll be okay. Our Aunt stayed in a rich high rise in Tampa. My MIL is in the Villages and FIL is in the hospital near here. I would have left if we were in Tampa.

My cousin and his wife in Venice high tailed it outta there. Some friends of ours in Bonita Springs zone B are staying put. I think he was screwed either way so I get his dilemma, I just hope they make it.

Jim Cantore is reporting from a flooding parking garage in Charlotte Harbor. Hope everyone around there got out safely!

all of our thoughts are with you. thankful to see it's dropped to cat 3-keep dropping milton!

My brother is waiting out the storm in Daytona with power crews

My sister lives north of Jacksonville. Will still see some bands.

A friend is in St Augustine visiting family. Other friends drove home from Disney late Monday into Tuesday. They were into day 4 of a 10 day trip.

I’ve seen reports of older folks staying because they have somewhere very close to go that is safe if the need arises (such as a cinderblock stairwell in their multistory apartment building, etc). The reason they gave for staying is they feel like ability to get back into their home and start cleaning might make a huge difference, like the difference between losing a few things or everything once the mold sets in. I don’t know. On one hand I can understand but is it really worth it? Obviously safety but even if survivable you might not want to be stuck in a home with no power, no running water/sewage, broken windows and feet of water slowly receding. It’s hard to tell some folks what to do, especially if they’ve weathered a few rough storms in their life.

The wind sounds are getting a little scary.
So grateful that we don’t have any big trees around the house.
We have a group text going with friends in our neighborhood and the worse that has happened is 1 screen door blew off the lanai and a small amount of water came under the front door.
Watching Ryan hall on YouTube and the devastation in other areas is so sad.

Late to your party. We're in St. Cloud (Harmony) and as of last night, we were right on the line. It's since moved south. St. Cloud's done a great job for its businesses maintaining important supplies -- we're new to the area (just moved here in July from Chicagoland) and have been pretty impressed.

We don't have a generator or hurricane shutters, but I think we're going to budget for them for next year. It would help relieve some of the anxiety.

Fabric roof has torn at Tropicana Field in St. Pete. It is a staging are for first responders. Everyone is ok according to fire and rescue.

hope when the sun comes up soon, the damage is not as bad is originally thought. Have a feeling outside of flooding in certain parts, the Tornados did more damage. at least from the info I am getting online..

Can anyone confirm this wasnt as bad as feared? I see flooding but not houses under water. But I am not in FL so only seeing what is posted online and the news.

We're at WDW now and obviously don't know much, but from inside our room at ASMusic; if I didn't know any better I wouldn't even know anything had really been going on. It was a lil windy last night, but once we went to bed I (the light sleeper) only heard a few gusts of wind (we have a box fan on). I took a peek out the window this morning and can't see any damage, but trying to patiently wait for the all clear before walking out to check on my car. The kids are still sleeping.

Hoping things are as good as they can be for everyone in FL.

Ok. That was a scary night.
Compared to the rest of Florida we’re very lucky.
Lost some roof shingles and a hibiscus tree but other than that, we are good.

Our community has some down trees and minor flooding but they do a good job moving the water around from the ponds.

My folks are in Ft. Myers area, on the Calooshatchee River near the first lock and they fared well. Boats still on lifts, dock still there. Water came up into the yard, but not as high as Ian or Helene. They lost power for a hour or so overnight, but everything is on this morning. Some debris in their yard like some loose wood, dirt and branches. They did have a few of the tornados near them yesterday mid-day/afternoon, but nothing hit them.
Heard from another relative who lives just North of Orlando and while her electric flickered once early this AM, she never lost power and her yard looks okay from inside the house so far.
