The superdome didn't explode. Some pieces of the roof were ripped off.

:grouphug: To anyone who was evacuated or affected in anyway.. :grouphug:

I havent fully watched the news until tonight, and I simply just can't believe how bad it actually was... Just seeing the damage in New Orleans, hearing the stories of the survivors, seeing the people stranded on their roofs... it just breaks my heart. I am def contributing to the Red Cross.
*hugs, prayers, & pixie dust to everyone effected*

We had to watch the news in home room today..... wow is all i have to say, :guilty: *sigh* Prayers to all those who are haveing to leave their homes, and love loved ones

The thing about New Orleans is, that it wasn't like that when the hurricane actually hit. The leeves were doing a ok job, and the pumps were helping. It flooded like that when the leeves started to break.

I've been watching the news this morning, this one family had 7 kids, one on the way, and while trying to get out, their car broke down. It was horrible. Anyway, prayers and pixie dust to everyone, I feel so bad for those being affected. I hope you can find help and safety! :grouphug:

what do you think about the hurricane and all the people, expecialy the children. Is any one doing any fund-raisers to earn money to help? :sad2: :sad1:  :worried:

my aunt lives there and they are temporarily staying at our house. they have a lot of animals because she breeds dauschens. my aunt is going to stay in a friends vacation house in north carolina and my brother is on the way right now to rescue all the animals.theres going to be atleast twenty+ dogs at the house by saturday, and some birds, snakes, lizards and fish too. its going to be a madhouse. we already have 5 dogs. now we're adding more. and 5 of them are pregnant. *sigh* we're trying to sell them to good homes. but its getting increasingly harder.

Ya. My dad is doing a dinner at his school. And I'm thinking of doing one through Student Council where you buy for a dollot A paper red cross, and we would but it up in the halls. I just want to do something.

We've already donated money to the red cross, and I can guarentee you I will donate more. School starts on Tuesday, I KNOW they will collecting. So I will give more.

Do you think they will make the livestrong-type bracelets to collect money? Cuz I know they did that with the tsunami, and it made money.

they definatley should do the arm band bracelets. i have a livestrong, but nothing else. i vowed i would only wear an armband for something i believed in strongly, so i haven't caught on the craze of the bracelets that say "princess" or "spoiled" or "perfect". i think they should be for a good cause.
so after that's all said, i would buy one if they made it. and that's saying a lot. :)

Did you guys see that lady on the news? Her, Her husband, Her son, and her daughter in law, went to stay with her dad to wait out the storm...When they relized how bad it was they were gonna leave but her dad din't wanna he wanted to stay with there dogs so her husband and her dad stayed back with the dogs while her, her bro , her son, and her daughter in law left... I guess some where on the way her son and daughter in law got lost and now she can't find any of them except her brother... I know there are alot of people who can't find people and that is so sad... :paw:

My parents left last night with a bunch of supplies to go help my grandma, 2 aunts, 2 uncles and 4 cousins who live in MS. My g'ma lives a mile off the coast in Pascagula (sp). Her house was flooded up to 3 feet deep! She said that all of her furniture was swept into the middle of the house in a giant whirlpool. Most of her pictures and furniture is ruined. One of my aunts and uncles live in Biloxi and there house was flooded 1 foot. The other aunt and uncle live in Pascagula and there house flooded 1 foot too. Everyone was ok. They stayed at another uncles house in Florida. Hopefully my g'ma's house will be ok, she's lived there for 44 years, and by the sound of things I think she'll have to move. Well, that's my hurricane story. :sad2:

It is so sad...They redid a song about that did you hear it??
"listen to your heart"but they added parts of interviews and stuff like they did with 9/11. Hot Chick'n: I am glad to hear they are all okay but it stinks your Grandma will have to move... I hope everyone else is okay...
:paw:

Thanks for your concern Cinderelly. I'm just glad everyone is ok!

No offense but you don't seem to know anything about it it was over on like Thursday now they are not talking about destroying the city b/c of the sea level they are going to destroy because it is flooded and the levees broke and it already partly demolished anyway... My mom right now is getting ready to go down to the military base in our city because 4,000 refugees arrived there today, she works for the state so she has to go down there and make sure everybody has food and water... she also had to make sure they get there applications in for benefits ( food stamps, medicade, etc ) she leaving right now and is supposed to be out there til like midnight

New Orleans isn't going to be destroyed. It probably should be, but it isn't.

The whole reason people are throwing that idea around anyway, is because of all the disease that will be floating around for a while after they get all of the water drained out, and all of the dead bodies out.

Plus everyone knows, this will happen again. Sure they will re-build the leeve system. Make it stronger, to the point where it can withstand a low-moderate CAT 4, but the people who give all the funding for the leeves who don't know anything about hurricanes, won't know that will not be enough. And the thing about this that tics me off the most, is that it's comeing out that the government could have given N.O. more funding for their leeves, but nooooooooo. We had to go off an fight a war, that has some made-up goal to it.

So like I said, New Orleans probably shouldn't be re-built, but it will be. This will all happen again in like, 2050 or something, and we will be looking at the exact same thing, or possibly worse. It's all a matter of time.

i think that the mayor/ head of the city should have had an evacuation plan and restoring or whatever plan b/c they know at one time or another this was gonna happen, and when it did, they just weren't prepared, and therefore so many people had to suffer!
i heard on t.v. that the levees they built were able to withstand 99.5% of all hurricanes, but hurricane katrina was part of the 0.5%.
at least things are looking up with all the evacuations going on :)

That stat is wrong. It was built to withstand a CAT. 3, and even a low CAT 4. But anything like, Hurricane Charlie strength and up, would break them.

And they had a plan, although said plan needed government involvement, and they have been slow. Thus that plan has kind of disintegrated.
