Hurricane Jeanne

I called AA and there is no fee to change thru Oct 17 in/out of FL and it does not have to be in the same class of service, but does have to be the same itinerary - which means if a non-stop flight was booked, there cannot be a change to a connecting flight (even if that's the only flight available).

I am supposed to leave BOS early Monday morning - the latest on CNN shows Jeanne hitting FL at 2 am Monday, instead of Sunday afternoon, but so far Disney has not chnaged it's cancellation policy - otherise I would try to go on Tuesday.

Good wishes for all who are traveling or live in Fl.

Here is the lastest track for you guys.

It's changed quite a bit since yesterday afternoon when i posted the lastest track avail. This track is using information from 5a.m this morning. Hope everyone will stay safe. We are due in daytona beach oct1 FRIDAY then HHN's on saturday night in Orlando so we are watching this closley. Not to mention the following weekend we have to keep an eye on Lisa.

LISA???? Ohmyword, you poor folks!!!

I did change my res and am now arr at MCO on Wed - lost 2 days, but still have 3 nights to enjoy the Magic.

Stay safe and God speed!

Hi Folks,

Thought I would try and ease your minds a bit, TD Lisa is "Very" unlikely to pose a threat to FL, this storm is going to merge with another Extratropical system and move NNE. Like all things this could change, but according to the latest NWS advisory Lisa will likely die off in the next few days.

P.S. This might actually be a good thing, as the two storms collide it might force the directional change and slow down the systems. If Lisa was not around this new Tropical activity might have become another TD in time.

Cheers,
Lee

A TD heading NNE is one of those storms that can turn into a hurricane for the Northeast - Boston. We are due as we have not had one in a few yrs, so I might just be dodging two while traveling...not that there is any info to say Lisa will head this way, but that's how it tends to happen when we do get a hurricane.

Thanks for the updates. I;ve been checking a very helpful link someone posted. Was that you?

Thanks!

PS Have decided to spoil us and upgraded our AZU code parking lot view at the Yacht Club to a water view...and requested a lake view...so we'll see if it happens!

Feels weird not doing the last minute getting ready stuff...now have a few more days.

Update as of 11:00am EST, TD Lisa is back to TS Lisa and expected to gain strength, the forecast has changed somewhat due to the impact of the weather system currently pushing Hurricane Jeanne. Lisa is expected to remain slow over the course of the next few days and change heading to a W then NNW course. The current forecast now shows TS Lisa gaining strength over the course of the next 5 days peaking at just under hurricane strength.

As of now TS Lisa should not pose any real danger of turning toward FL.

Cheers,
Lee

We were scheduled to check into Ft. Wilderness Cabins Saturday afternoon. We got a phone call on Friday afternoon from Disney saying the resorts were closed. Up until then, we weren't sure whether we should cancel or not, but after that of course, we had no choice. I was under the impression they weren't going to let anyone else in.:( We rescheduled for late February.

I thought they were accomodating FW guests in other resorts.

I'm so sorry - how disappointing!

I guess I spoke too soon. When they called to say they were closing Ft. Wilderness Cabins, I said we were going to reschedule. She said "wonderful" and never told me that they were relocating! Since we were scheduled for 4 days only, we didn't want to waste any of them with bad weather. Was anyone there during Jeanne - does anyone know if there was any damage to the cabins at Ft. Wilderness?

We got the call from Disney on Fri., Sept. 24 saying that Ft. Wilderness was closing due to Jeanne. We were given 2 options - move to OKW or reschedule. Since we were driving down, we opted to move to OKW. We arrived early afternoon on 9/25. We were forced to stay in our room all day on Sun. with lots of wind and rain. Power was never lost. Sun. was a wash but the rest of the week was ok - hot, but ok.
