Most forecasters are mentioning in passing that Hurricane Ivan (category 3) is following the same path as Francis and could also cause problems for Florida in another 7-10 days.

Please pray for a change in the weather!

I'm with you. We have family in VB and are planning our next OKW visit for 2 weeks from today. This weather needs to take a turn for the better.

Ivan's path is farther South than Frances'. Most forecasters predict it will pass into the gulf. The Yucatan and Mexico are currently predicted for landfall, however it could turn North and follow a path more like Charley's. Even if it turns North in the gulf, most feel it will be a bigger threat to MS, Alabama and LA rather than FL.

Of course, it could all change in a matter of days.

AS of 11am Eastern, Ivan is still a tropical storm, winds of 60mph...it is NOT a cat 3, not even a hurricane, yet.

I hope Ivan goes in another direction!!! We are to be in WDW on the 16th through the 21st. I just keep praying.

...IVAN GRADUALLY BECOMING STRONGER OVER THE TROPICAL ATLANTIC...

AT 5 PM AST...2100Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM IVAN WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 9.1 NORTH...LONGITUDE 40.8 WEST OR ABOUT 1450
MILES...2335 KM...EAST-SOUTHEAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.

IVAN IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 20 MPH...32 KM/HR...AND THIS
MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

SATELLITE IMAGES INDICATE THAT THE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NOW
NEAR 60 MPH... 95 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. A CONTINUED GRADUAL
INCREASE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

The track that Ivan's on is the kind I worry about, from here in Houston. Many of these storms curl north into Texas, or Louisiana.

Wonderful! I have to go to San Juan this coming week.

:( Oh NOOOO! Yikes!

We'll have to keep an eye on that one. What a summer!

The Weather Channel just announced that Ivan is now a hurricane with winds having reached 75mph.

I just want to know where Ivan is heading, as we are heading to WDW on 9/16. I'm praying he heads someplace else. Orlando has had enough with Charlie and Frances.

Ivan is now a category 3 storm.

They are now keeping an eye on two more disturbances.

Looks like this is going to be an interesting season.

Experts say the waters in the Atlantic is going into a 30 year warming cycle, thus contributing to stronger storms.

Yeah, it's early to be worried about Ivan but it sure would be nice if more of these things would turn north like Danielle or peter out like Earl.

Unfortunately my beloved island of Barbados looks like it's going to get plastered no matter what. :(

There is now a pressure system that looks like it will blow Ivan into Florida by next weekend.

Ivan is on the record books now as one of the fastest strengthing storms ever. From a Tropical storm to category 3 in 3-6 hours.

Go away IVAN!

That is basically what I am hearing too...is it just us in FL that are hearing these predictions??? I wonder from reading some posts here...maybe our weather men are really watching since Charely & Frances????? Reguardless what others are saying not too worry, too far to predict... I am still watching & worrying. I live too close for comfort in SW FL

I have to wonder how one sided the weather reports on Ivan are at this point. Noone is even proposing the possibility that Ivan could fade as fast as it is strengthening. The first thing I've heard from the Weather channel, and they mentioned it very quickly and moved on, is the first islands it hits have very high mountains which have the real possibility of breaking it.

One our newscasts last night, they said a cold front is heading our way...which should keep Ivan out of Texas...and they said there is a possibility that this same front may move through Florida about the same time Ivan arrives, which could deflect Ivan back to sea and to the North.

We go to OKW for a four day weekend on Weds the 15 of September, so we are also concerned about Ivan. Thanks for the nhc link someone posted!
