I live in West Palm Beach, Florida, and have an annual pass to the parks. I already took off work for this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so that I can drive up to Orlando and go to the parks for a couple days. Now I am hearing all about this stupid hurricane that is supposed to be hitting us around Thursday/Friday. I really hope this storm moves away in another direction so I can actually do my trip as planned.

Is anyone else worried about this hurricane, who is planning on going to the parks this coming weekend? What does it actually take in order for Universal to shut down their parks?

if you have a room booked on site or with the partner hotels, you will be fine.

you can change your bookings without an issue and without losing any of your money.

if a hurricane would affect your trip, i would think it would also affect you being at your current job, or at least traveling to work.

either way, don't worry about losing out on vacation days as you might be able to reschedule them.

if the storm hits, many people would be changing their plans.

crossing my fingers for you that the hurricane does not hit and affect your trip plans.

i travel to florida annually.
i do understand the agony of disrupting a planned trip.

i have been there when a hurricane has hit and the parks weren't that much fun........

Thanks for posting that, Mac! That is a really important piece of information.

What if you are already here? We arrived Monday night and are at universal until Friday and then off to WDW after that? We are staying onside for the express pass priveledge. Will universal extend those priveleges a day if we can not go to the parks on Thursday or Friday?

With the current track of the storm staying east of the shoreline, there should be little to worry about. If the track stays the same, the parks will not close since the weather will not be an issue.

I wouldn't worry. I live in NC and we are already in hurricane mode. Looks like NC will get this mama...not Florida. Enjoy your vacation...looks like we will be the ones with this nasty girl!

i have been at universal and stayed onsite during a hurricane.

yes, it pours rain.
yes, it is miserable.

but it sure does clear the parks out......

i used a poncho and was fine with it.
most of the rides at the studio side are indoors.

you can still do pretty much at the studio side.

i have never received an 'extension' due to the weather.
and i have never received an 'extension' at disney due to the weather.

i do both parks and some guests do things at the resorts when it pours.

like Metro stated, the weather should not be an issue on your trip.
