Oh my gosh...It feels like forever since I have been on the disboards:eek: Well, we made it through another hurricane:scared1: We live in southwest louisiana and our area is really messed up, again....(we are still recovering from Hurricane Rita - 3 years ago this month.) We did not have as much damage to our home this time around :worship: . I am just hoping we get enough insurance money to fix our damages:confused3 . And... I am hoping we can still make our Thanksgiving trip to WDW - 11 days at SSR...this is going to be our dream trip (...but of course each trip is a dream for me:love: ). Anyway, thanks to everyone who reads....

Living in NW Louisiana, I can understand your problems. SW Louisiana really got hit again, Rita, Gustav and Ike. Hope things get better.

Hope you and the family are safe!

I'm from SE LA and what irritates me TO NO END is that one would swear by listening to the media that New Orleans was the ONLY area EVER affected by a hurricane since Katrina hit--UGH:headache: !

You guys have now gotten hammered twice in the last 3 years really hard, but I think highly of the kind of people that live in your area and I'm sure ya'll will plug away to get things back to normal.

All the best and pixiedust: from Thibodaux!

And P.S.--hopefully we'll see you there at Thanksgiving!!! Good luck!

Hope the worst is over for you and good luck with that insurance.

Also hope that you get to enjoy that dream Thanksgiving trip.

Good Luck to you and your family

I feel deeply for the people of New Orleans and their loses, but I am so glad someone realizes this... we are hard working people. People just don't realize what southwest LA means to this country...oil business, deep water ports, etc... Again, thanks for your support!!

I second that. As a Southeast Texan, it is disconcerting to see that there is very little attention to out little neck of the woods. We've been through Rita, Allsion, Gustav, and Ike, not to mention the Katrina evacuees we took in when parts of La closed their city borders on them. Then Ike hit Houston, the 4th largest city in the US which took away the contractors working to get power back to our neck of the woods again because it is a greater economic impact. I hope your family is safe, and good luck on your insurance struggles. I have coworkers in Bridge City that lost homes as well. We were lucky we had minimal damage. Now, waiting for the next one......

My thoughts and prayers are for all who have been affected.

You must be in southern Calcasieu or Cameron Parish. We're also in SW Louisiana, but fortunately we had no damage...only a few small trees down, but none hit the house. Hope all goes well with the insurance and you're able to make your Thanksgiving trip.:wizard:

So sorry for all the trouble for our neighbors in SW Louisiana. :grouphug: I’m in Madisonville (North of Lake Pontchartrain) and we were lucky enough to be spared this year.

Hang in there! Good luck with your insurance company. :tink:Wishing you the best Disney trip ever – you deserve it!!!

Congratulations for coming through w/ minimal damages this time- I still wish you the best w/ your insurance- even minimal damage can take a hunk from unexpected monies going out! Wishing you the best ever trip @ Thanksgiving and hope all of your home gets back to normal or better!

I wish you good luck with the insurance and a great trip at Thanksgiving. I sometimes think that with everything else that is going on right now that most of the country has forgotten about Hurricane Ike. We live in Louisville, and on Sunday afternoon (September 14th) Ike and a nasty cold front tore through Louisville. We were expecting 30mph winds and instead had sustained winds of 50-75mph for a couple of hours. Close to 75% of our county was without power. It took until today to get all the power back up.

We lost a large tree and there were shutters and shingles flying off houses. Our schools were closed all last week. No one saw this coming. So I can only imagine the damage in Texas and Louisiana. We have lived in Louisville for 14 years and I have never seen county wide damage like this. In the big scheme of things, this is all pretty minor damage compared to what happened to folks in the Gulf coast region, but given how far inland we are, it is still amazing.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone having to deal with Ike. I can't even imagine how scary it was....

:cool1: My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family as you deal with the insurance company. May you have a wonderful trip during Thanksgiving. :thumbsup2

Beaumont Texan here made it.

Many others in southeast Texas still suffering right now.

Please keep them in your prayers

We are from SE Louisiana too. I know the feeling. Thoughts and prayers go out to all who have suffered and lost because of Gustav and Ike. :grouphug:

I can't imagine how stressful getting through these hurricanes must be for all of you-prayers for all of you affected by these storms.

Being from coastal Florida, we are also aware of the damage hurricane can do. Hope all are well and recover from the storms soon.:grouphug:

We are in Houston and on day 12 with no power. Luckily work came through with a generator for us to borrow. They are now saying it could be October before the electric company gets everything back up and running.

We are the lucky ones. There are many more here that are without homes. Please think of them all as they put their lives back together.
