Hurricane Ike - Aftermath

tigger1,

Not all of spring has power because lot of trees fell on power lines and if she lives in an area or subdivision with lots of trees, my guess is it probably has not come on yet.

our lights on roads are all down due to the heavy winds blowing them down and have not been repaired yet so the lines are long.

Tell your friend that the Kroger at corner of fm 2920 and kuykendal has milk and ice but she will have to wait it line but they do go fast though.

Yesterday I overnighted a box to a co-worker of mine who has a really large family that lives in the Spring area. I sent some card games, puzzles, word find books, crosswords, lots of non-perishable snacky foods. I got the nicest text from him that they really appeciated the care package. After so many days without power, the box of goodies was a nice distraction. I shipped via UPS; they can tell you by looking at the zip code if it is an area that they can deliver to. My parents also said that the USPS delivered the mail yesterday. So just a thought for people who have friends/family in the affected areas, you can send a card or care package.

Things are getting back to normal bit by bit. Today I waited 40 minutes at the Kroger gas station and filled my tank so I am set in that part. I than went inside Krogers and they have started to fill the dairy dept and the rest but no eggs still and bread is scarce but lots of canned goods and meats are coming back yay. I was standing in line and some ladies got to talking and said that they still did not have power and they came looking for ice but no ice in kroger so they were buying bakery items like little debbie snacks, etc. I offered to let her use my internet if she needed to contact anybody but she was alright and was just hoping that the lights come back soon. Normalcy is returning and all the restaurants were open today and I just hope that everyone gets their lights back on. The woodlands a huge neighboorhood still did not have them on but i dunno if they got them back on yet because last I heard fema was heading out there to give away ice and water.

Schools are out and will resume Monday for Houston and surrounding areas.

I called my insurance company and got a claim started for the roof damage and leaks and fence that flew away and hopefully they will arrive in a timely manner. We do not need any rain in Houston since majority have leaks in their homes thru the roof.

One of my family members waiting in line for bulk gas yesterday for 12-hours!!! They filled seven 55-gallon drums. They are in a small town where power is not expected to be back on for 4-6 weeks.
