Well, we survived it!!

Charley's eye passed over our neighborhood about midnight friday night.

We have been in a motel since saturday. We have no power at our mobile home. We did not have any damage, thank the Lord!! My mom suffered some structural damage to her mobile home. But she has insurance and should be fine.

We appreciate any extra Pixie dust and prayers.

Blessed!! WE ARE!!

You have my prayers and a hug to go with it!

I wish you the best!

Bob and June found out today that they have gotten power back at their home in Avon Park..they no power or water..they sustained some damage...Junes moms' modular home lost its roof... They came up on sun., and stayed here 'till today,

They are very happy to go home, they said it is like a disaster area down there...tractor trailer trucks were blown over on their sides....

I guess we are all very lucky to here to talk about it...hope you get your power back soon....PD and prayers your way!!!

My niece who lives in Cape Coral, and went through the storm in her home w/ her 3 kids, locked in the bathroom..very happily called me tonight to tell me that they also had power...they had told them it could be 2 weeks...

I guess we owe our heartfelt thanks for all the power teams from all over the country that are working night and day to get this done along w/ our Fla crews...they have outdone themselves...

In Winter Park area, they have to completely rebuild the whole power system..one pole at a time...It is amazing....

So thank God for us coming through this , thank God for all the great people down here helping us out...

Im glad 2 hear that u & Fred made it thru ok Winnie!!! We lost power when Charley hit & just got it back last nite...'round 11!!! I was gettin' fond of takin' cold showers...not...!!!

I hope every1 made it thru Charley with no life threatenin' disasters!!!

Buggin'

Glad to see you checking in Winnie. Glad to see also that everyone seems to be alive and well!

Just heard the news, still over 200,000 without power!

We got a thunder storm last night and lost our power for almost an hour......I can't imagine the poor folks going days (weeks) without it!

Kudos to everyone who is working to get Florida back in 'working order'. Still difficult to find even ice/water or gasoline where I live and we didn't have any real damage!

Donna, glad to read your family & friends are gradually getting power restored. Isn't this the niece who a few years ago sent home some of her underwear in Ed's suitcase :)? Only Ed!!

Out of state power companies are a God send! Last year after Isabel power in our neighborhood was restored by crews from NC. I called their corporate headquarters to thank them & was put through to a VP. We chatted for several minutes.

My thoughts & prayers continue for people affected by Charley.

What a great memory...yes that is the same niece....I didn't think to ask her if her underwear was ok :p

Yes..you are right....only Ed....right now he is down in Kissimmee, and it was pretty badly damaged ..some of the schools they have systems in, are going to have to work fast for those kids to go back to school on Tues...

I am posting this from our HOUSE!! YIPPEE!!!!

We got our power back yesterday. So I thought I'd stop by the old homested and drop a line or two.

Like I said, our mobnile home did fine. My mom's is a mess!! Limbs everywhere, and her porch and a third of her lving room roof, peeled back like an orange. The ceiling tiles and insulation all over her recliner she would have been in.

We have spent the last several days cleaning up, ripping up carpet and padding. Fred folded the roof back over and cover it with visqueen.

Now we're just getting estimates and waiting for ins. adjuster to show up hopefully monday so we can get started with repairs.
I am just so grateful the God in His devine providence, only allowed damage to mom's home and not ours as well. I only have to deal with fixing hers. Whew!!!

So thanks for all the well, wishes, prayers and P.D. We so appreciate it. You all are the best!!!

I'm sure it is wonderful feeling to be sleeping in your own home again.

I WISH!!

Unfortunately, we are still in motel with my mom. We don't have room for her in our place, so we are staying with her till we can get her settled again somewhere.

But it's still nice to have our house back with power.

Thanks again,
Winnie

We came thru pretty well. I moved into my new apt. just a week before Charley came by to visit. The apt building is only 4 years old and can withstand alot. A little water came in thru the bedroom window, but other than that, nothing (thank goodness).

I know, I know, welcome to Orlando! :p
