We just returned from a wonderful trip to the World, and while we've flown JetBlue before this was the first time we had the option to pay more for the upgrade to the extra legroom seats. WOW! What a difference!!

DS, 11, hates flying and has had problems with airsickness. We finally figured out that it's because he gets stressed/panicked over a feeling of claustrophobia. Dramamine helps, but it's hard to have him (at nearly 5' tall) sprawled across DH's and my laps, etc. With the extra room around us, DS felt much more comfortable and at ease, he could stretch out easily, and it just made the entire flight that much more enjoyable. How nice to be able to have the person in front of me put his seat back without feeling like I should be doing dental work on him:laughing:!

If you can manage the extra $, go for it!! The other nice thing is that the seats are in the front of the plane, so you're first to get off. Really lovely.

It is nice, isn't it?? I try to fly mostly JB. When my two dd's and I flew to WDW a week or so ago, we flew JB, but not in the extra leg room seats. When we returned home, I had booked Delta. When we got seated, my 33 y/o dd commented on the huge difference in legroom with Delta...good thing I hadn't booked those extra legroom seats going down!!!! She would have really complained about Delta then.
But I have to tell you....it does make a difference in your flight. I felt like I was in a small box when flying home..it just wasn't pleasant. I had forgotten how cramped most airline seats are.

My DH also has problems with claustrophobia and on one occassion had gotten so worked up just thinking about it he had a major panic attack on the plane. luckily we were still at the terminal. we had to get off - trip had to be cancelled. Jet Blue is the "ONLY" airline we fly now. It is worth every penny to get those extra legroom seats. Also, the seat backs are lower and the overhead bins are higher - makes for a lot more personal space around you.

Has he ever tried Dramamine? Even if the issue is not motion sickness, Dramamine just kind of mellows you out and makes you sleep. DS is barely 75 pounds, and he can take one, sleep on the plane (about 2.5 hours for us) and be refreshed enough to have a day and evening in the parks without a medication "hangover." For my poor little DS, when he has had serious panic attacks while flying it has been a case of getting increasingly anxious during the flight so he's had no choice but to hang in, but getting the Dramamine in him has really, really helped.

I find I don't need the added leg room...but I sure could use some extra fanny room!!:rotfl2:

I agree. We just used it for the first time our last flight, I think the extra legroom is worth the money as well. Glad it worked out and helped ease your son's experience.
