Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Popping in during lunch to say:

It's Official!! :cool1:

We will be at WDW October 8th - October 17th ... staying at SSR this time because that's all we could get, but you'll hear no complaints from me.

Woo hoo!! :dance3:

Whoa! Wait a cotton-pickin' second...is that this year or next?

Edit note: After reading through the thread a bit, I noticed it is for this year. Congratulations! It appears that we'll be missing you by a couple of days since we'll be going the 19th through the 24th. Ah well, I guess I could hop across MO and come harass you on Missouri side. (My understanding is that east Missouri is still pronounced Missouri, while western and SW MO - in particular - refer to the state as Missourah. If I am mistaken, feel free to flog me with a wet noodle.)

I might pass because I have the Adventures by Disney trip in December.

Yay!!! Thats great!

Shaun & I are still debating between YC or CBR but we'll have similar dates (8/9th to 13th)

Hi Brenda! You and the man-who-does-not-take-a-bad-photograph have such lovely tans in that ToT photo, my pale german/irish self cannot help but be jealous.

Also, I think it is most eexxxxxcellent that you will be returning to WDW...more trippies for us to read!! YAYAYAY. Joining the :grouphug:

Great pictures Brenda! I'm dying for one of those shakes right now. I know I shouldn't read your review before I make dinner, now I'm really starving!

Great news on the October trip, wish we could go then too. Are you going to waitlist for BW or BCV?

Can't you stay just one more day?? We arrive late on the 18th!!!:sad1:

Hi Meli! Right now our dates are October 11 - October 18, although that could change tomorrow after I talk to member services. We're not locked in to the dates this year like we have been in the past, so if I can nab a studio at Beach Club or Boardwalk I'll change the dates accordingly.

Oh yeah ... he's in for a big treat! He'll love it, I'm sure! :thumbsup2

OMG, can it be? Brenda, Jay, Plankton, Deb and Hank will be at the same PFTS? I bet I'll enjoy seeing it through your camera and words even better than actually being there. We will be at VWL the 15-20th! :dance3:

Deb

Oh.... I just thought about it...

The 3 of us doing a trip report...

3 different versions of the same meal!!!

(I'm not sure WHICH smilie I should use for that one????

Ohhhh... Got it.... :dance3:

Great update Brenda! I'm going to the Sci-Fi for the first time this December. Thanks for the review!:goodvibes

OMG Brenda!!! Only you would ask a poor harmless Welshman to take a pic holding your strange green stuffed thing! ;) :lmao: :rotfl2:

That guy was definitely a good sport!

And from the looks of the two of you in the back of the caddy! Well, let's just say, we know what Jay needs to get you in the mood for love! :lovestruc Yeah, a chocolatey alchohol spiked glowy drink & a MST3K marathon! And who said you weren't a cheap date?! ;) :lmao:

yeeee-OW this review moves FAST!!!

or I've been oddly absent...

I keep losing time.

where am I?

just kidding...

sort of...

*ahem*

We LOVED our Sci Fi dining experience! My Jay requested a do over for this August!!!

I think that if you and your Jay and me and my Jay met up in a bar someplace...we'd have a dang good time...and not only b/c I tend to dance on tables with little provocation...

Jay and I laughed ourselves silly over the Sci Fi clips as well...much to the annoyance of the boring drones around us!

;)

I had a snort laugh at your attempt to appear "both cute and non threatening"!

THAT my dear is my SECRET weapon!!!

and congrats on getting the SpongeBob man to pose with Plankton!

it appears that cute and non threatening works well for you too!!!

did you frame it and hang in on your wall?!

so glad Jay appears to be feeling better!!!

If you drag out all of your reports long enough, and I drag out all my reports long enough, you might just help me make it until the next trip.

Disney co-dependence...it's a beautiful thing. Sniff. :grouphug:

Food porn addiction ... we're the only ones who really understand. ;)

**rolls eyes** Oh wait, forgot there was an emote for that. Ok, if you absolute must avoid all that "Hollywood" crap they did, do what I do. Call it the Studios. It's nice and generic, and it should survive any more name changes. Maybe.

I think I will just refer to it as the Studios - everyone will know what I mean but I don't have to confuse my brain by saying we're at the Hollywood Studios in Florida ... :rotfl2:

The ducks probably were in the mood for more Brenda leg. It explains why you only have one leg now, doesn't it?

If I were to divulge just what happened to that leg ... :rolleyes1

I've done the walk when it wasn't so freakin' hot as it was that week. Otherwise I would probably pass out from the heat and humidity. The walk is great in December. Even in the pouring rain. (If you have a great raincoat to walk around in, that is.)

I enjoyed the walk much more in the morning than I did in the afternoon when we lost all of our shade. It was downright unpleasant for a while - hot, sticky, sweaty, and stinky.

Yuk.

Ah, you had a Sandra Lee Moment! I'm going to call that drink, Brenda's Cup o' Sin.

:lmao: I love it!!

Did you pose yourselves to that mock look of horror, or did PhotoPass tell you to pose that way? My money is on you, of course. You do adore cheese. In its many forms.

We had a little help from the Photopass guy. And I do love cheese ... I'm eating it right now ... and later I'm thinking of typing some. ;)

:rotfl2: Oh that's just freakin' brilliant! You've taken a page from me and imposed yourself on a stranger! Although technically, I knew who you two were before I imposed myself upon you. But I have asked Disneyland cast members to pose with my plush Figment beanie baby.

I couldn't believe that I did that with no help from an alcoholic beverage at all. Just 100% goofy Brenda ... scary, isn't it?

Many people don't "get" your kind of humor. Sadly, many of them also travel to Disney.

With me, people either get it or they don't - there doesn't seem to be much middle ground. Once they do "get" it, they quickly realize that about 98% of what I say is tongue-in-cheek. I don't take much very seriously ... where's the fun in that?

Wow! You actually bought one of Disney's myriad of radioactive drinks! More power to you. I can't convince myself to pay that much to get a glowcube when I can get at Oriental Trading Company for a lot less.

Honestly, when we ordered the milkshakes we just wanted the boozy-ice creamy goodness. The waiter told us we each "qualified" for a cube based on the ridiculous price of our drinks. It was fun, but I wouldn't go out of my way to order a drink just to get a glow-cube.

Not to mention the Royale with Cheese (and a heap-load of bacon) earlier.

We had to have our Vincent Vega moment. ;)

Pulp Fiction remains one of our favorite movies of all time. Jay took me to see it shortly after we started dating. Several years later he told me the fact that I laughed during several scenes in the movie convinced him that I was the sick, twisted girl for him. :rotfl2:

I'm so glad it's not a pic of you two making out in someone's backseat. That's a really cute pic of you both. Not just Mr. Photogenic. You too, missy. Yes you.

Bwaaaaaahahahaha!! Next time we go there I think I'm going to suggest that and ask the server to take a picture of us lip-and-limb locked!

Thanks ... that's very nice of you. :flower3:

I'm not fond of Sci Fi Dine In under normal circumstances. But if I had lunch there with you too, doing MST3K commentary, I think I'd enjoy it a heckuva lot more! (My favorite MST3K movie isn't sci fi. It's that Joe Don Baker classic, "Mitchell". Some things bear the "rewind and replay" feature in many parts of it.)

You'll have to try Sci-Fi MST3K on your next visit (the milkshakes don't hurt, either!). Our favorite MST3K is Manos: The Hands of Fate. It's just awful ...

It would be cool if we end up going to a signature dinner together :)

If it's the right dinner at the right time, we would be all over finally going to one. And it would be awesome to share it with some DIS-friends!

Thanks for the pics of Scifi!! We'll be back there for Star Wars weekend, baby!! Congrats on the October trip! I would love to go on our just the two of us trip then, but Chuck's heart is set on Mousefest (December.)!

Hey Lynn! Have fun on the Star Wars visit - some year we will have to try to get down to WDW for that. And you know ... this year you go to Mousefest to make the Chuckster happy ... next year you go in October to sample the joy that is the F&W Festival! :thumbsup2

Awwwww Brenda, did ya hafta??

Sorry to bring up bad memories, but we can't make up our minds if Jay had a virus or food poisoning, so I had to cover all the bases. Here's a hug to make you feel a little better.

Brenda, you've got to move your dates later!!! I think the LEGO Plankton would love to meet his larger, more famous, counterpart. We'll be there from Oct. 19-24. That's DD6's fall break from school. Plus, Buzz (MontanaDisneyFan) and his family will be there then as well!

By the way, our newest update shows Plankton with his favorite chocolate temptation.... you'll have to come over and check it out!

Hi Jodi! I wish we could move the dates, but they're stuck in stone now. It's too too bad, because I'd have loved to met you all in person. And I know Plankton would want to destro... uh, meet his LEGO doppleganger. ;)

Heading over to your TR shortly ... can't wait to see what's been going on!

I.

Am.

So.

Jealous.

I'm not sure I can talk to you now...

You are toooo lucky! YOU get to go back for another F&WF. I wanna go so bad!!

Well - here's a heartfelt congratulations although I will admit, I wish I was going with you.

Loved the update. I think I may just have to go to Sci-Fi now - 50's PT won out before. The burger looked calor-iffic.

Have a happy workweek. (now you know you're going back - it should be easier!)

Ms. H

Thanks, Ms. H ... too bad you can't swing another short trip this fall. All I can say is I love the vacation club and I love unexpected promotions for Jay. It's really the promotion that sealed it - otherwise we were just going to stay home and stare at each other's feet this fall.

And the burger was very yummy ... as was the shake!

Cass love trust me that is not Bacon you see in that picture,it's fake cheap Bacon you can find it all over the U.S.A,should come see the Buttie Hazel has just presented me with i think Ive died and gone to Bacon buttie heaven, half a pig in a flat bread cake...

Well, it's bacon the way we uncouth colonists like it. Not too crisp, not too soggy, and lots of it!

I did not Paige; I felt the bounder she was with was way over friendly for my liking...

It's all about the ice cream, AFEG ... I thought you knew that. :rotfl2:

Without us?...:sad2: ......Just when we thought our "After the REPO" depression couldn't get any worse Bendy goes to WDW without us,am going to go take out my frustrations on the fruit bowl,no am not going to eat the bloody stuff am going to kick the living daylights out of a grape....

You're going on a Panama Canal cruise, what do you have to be sad about? :upsidedow

Just what I needed to start a crappy Monday morning out right ... an update from Brenda!!:thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed the Sci-Fi. We had lunch there in October, too, but obviously ordered the wrong thing. Our meals were kind of . . . blech. I had some chicken sandwich thing that was really dry and tasteless. I can't remember what DH had but he didn't care for it. My parents were very happy with their reuben, that they split. Really, it's just a sandwich, you can't manage that on your own? :rotfl: I'm not sure how I missed those alcoholic milkshakes. The kids had the regular kind and they were very good, so it may be worth a trip back just for the alcoholic version and a couple of sides of onion rings.

I'm so glad you're going back in Oct.! With no trip in the works, I'm living vicariously through trip reports. Looking forward to more!

Hi there Lori! Glad I could help get Monday off to a better start. Sorry to hear that your Sci-Fi food wasn't very good - next time stick with burgers and boozy shakes - you'll be happier!

Thanks for reading!!
Loved reading about your experiences at the Sci-fi, Brenda, I really must give the lunch menu a go, I love the atmosphere in there. I giggle at the clips too! How could you not?

Glad you liked it! I definitely think lunch is the meal of choice at Sci-Fi. I'm also glad to hear so many of my food friends like to snicker at the movie clips, too. We're not alone!!!

...and THAT is why I no longer live in MO! ;)

I have one of them new-fangled "days off" today, so I shall attempt to catch up on your tales of eatin'!

Crystal!!! How the heck are you? And you've escaped from the armpit of the midwest ... I'm so jealous! Hope you are well - it's nice to see you posting here!

Yeah!!!:cool1: I'm so glad to read that you're going to WDW in October! Another Brenda F&W TR!:thumbsup2

My sister and I didn't go that last time we went. She went with her best friend in 2005 and said it was good. Sadly our friend who she went with has seen the full length versions of pretty much all of those movies they show. MST3K was a great show, so many bad cheesy movies out there. Supposedly there is a site where you can download tracks for more recent movies that play while you watch the movie that is done by the same people that did the show. My brother has done this several times and said they work really well.

My sister and I have this problem as well. We went to one movie recently where we were the only people laughing and that theater was packed. Of course there are some things that make us giggle because it ties into an inside joke, but even at movies that are supposed to be funny it seems we are the only ones laughing.

I didn't know there was a site out there to download from MST3K ... I will have to go surfing soon.

It sounds like you and your sister suffer from some of the same issues that Jay and I do. We laugh during funny movies and no one else seems to be laughing either ... :confused3 Of course, we've also noticed that no one laughs while grocery shopping (except us) ... why is that?

Hilarious update - I actually laughted out loud while imagining the whole conversation with SpongeBob dude. I love the fact that he was wearing a hat that he didn't really "get" simply because his kids picked it out for him. Too sweet!

Congrats on heading back to the F&WF!! We'll miss you guys by a day, so there's no chance of another Oybolshoi sighting - bummer! Oh well, at least we have another awesome food/trip report to look forward to!

Hi there PPZ! Glad you liked the update - he was a really good sport. We would have bought him a beer afterwards but he seemed to want to put some distance between himself and us!

Too bad - it would have been nice to meet you this time. And I expect a report from you missy ... going to V&A for an anniversary dinner! We want to hear all about it!!

subscribing

Thanks so much for stopping by to read - hope you're having fun!

Great news Brenda!!!!:yay:

Thanks Kathy! I'm going to be relying on you for early F&W reports!!

D'OH! Another DIS-miss. And you are correct ... we live in Missouri (pronounced Mis-or-eeeeee) while all the "rubes" live in a place called Mi-zoo-rah. I don't understand it ... but then again I understand so little.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :woohoo:

Just do me a favor, and stay FAR FAR away from Norway the day before we meet up this time

See! It's a double do-over! Jay gets to have a second chance at F&W and you and I get a second chance to meet up in the real world with lots of good tasting beverages to smooth over any awkward pauses in the conversation.

Avoid Norway - check!
Bring phone that works - check!
Don't throw away sheet with phone numbers - check!
Put kidneys and liver through warm-up exercises - check!

I'm totally on the fence, here. I've been playing with the idea of returning in September or October. I just haven't decided. Arg. Guess I'd be stuck in SSR if I booked it, too. I didn't jump on it when I should have in the fall.

I might pass because I have the Adventures by Disney trip in December.

Oh, please come to Disney in the Fall ... please!

Thats great!

Shaun & I are still debating between YC or CBR but we'll have similar dates (8/9th to 13th)

Excellent - I'm sure we'll see you there!

Jay is dark-skinned to begin with, so it takes almost no time at all for him to develop a tan. I tend to be somewhat jaundiced looking in my usual state, so it takes me a little longer to work up a glow. That picture is the result of what happens when it's 90+ degrees every day in October. We had no choice but to go to the pool every day. :lmao:

Thanks for the pre-trip good vibes! I appreciate it!!

Great pictures Brenda! I'm dying for one of those shakes right now. I know I shouldn't read your review before I make dinner, now I'm really starving!

Great news on the October trip, wish we could go then too. Are you going to waitlist for BW or BCV?

Thanks Deb! We thought about waitlisting for Boardwalk, but since we're doing a studio this time and they are so much harder to get, we just booked the entire stay at SSR. It sucks not being able to walk in and out of Epcot like we're accustomed to, but I'm not complaining. We'll manage just fine and this way we can try some new places over at DTD.

:cool1: Yay! Another trip report to look forward. :)

Thanks! I'll try to make it a good one!

Can't you stay just one more day?? We arrive late on the 18th!!!:sad1:

If we had the points to spare we would, but the dates we ended up with are a direct result of getting more bang for our vacation point buck, if you know what I mean. Those Friday / Saturday night stays are point killers ... and we need the rest for October 2009. We'll be there 10/16-10/24 next fall ... any chance we can manage to get together then?

OMG, can it be? Brenda, Jay, Plankton, Deb and Hank will be at the same PFTS? I bet I'll enjoy seeing it through your camera and words even better than actually being there. We will be at VWL the 15-20th!Deb

Oh no, I just figured out, you'll probably be at the PFTS the week before us. Drats!!!

And I was even going to bring you a big ole brick of Tillamook medium cheddar:sad2:

Awww, Deb, I'm sorry. I was hoping our dates would overlap for PFTS, but you're right ... we'll be at the one on the 11th.

You could still bring that brick of cheese and would could find ourselves a nice bottle of wine and just have a cheese & chat!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

I smell trouble..... Can I come????

Oh.... I just thought about it...

The 3 of us doing a trip report... 3 different versions of the same meal!!!

(I'm not sure WHICH smilie I should use for that one????

Ohhhh... Got it.... :dance3:

Could the DIS-community handle the three of us writing a joint report? :rotfl2:

Great update Brenda! I'm going to the Sci-Fi for the first time this December. Thanks for the review!:goodvibes

Hi there Jen! Nice to see you back on the thread! You will have fun at Sci-Fi ... just keep the food simple! :thumbsup2

OMG Brenda!!! Only you would ask a poor harmless Welshman to take a pic holding your strange green stuffed thing! ;) :lmao: :rotfl2:

That guy was great, wasn't he? I wonder if I should have told him that I was going to post that picture for the world to gawk at ... ;)

Everybody thinks I'm high maintenance ... it's just not true! Thanks for pointing that out, Sheryl!!

yeeee-OW this review moves FAST!!!

Hi Campbell! You just made me snort-laugh so thank you! I think you and me and the two Jays could have a great time ... we could go to Beaches and Cream and kill that last day vacation jinx thing you have going on. And you could dance on the counter if you were so inclined. ;)

I'm not sure why that poor man agreed to pose for a picture, but I'm eternally grateful. And no, we haven't framed it or even printed it out ... the downside to digital cameras is that everything just gets dumped on the computer and then years later you realize that you've never had prints made and you don't know who any of those people are and you can't remember why there are 650 pictures of various food items out of 670 total pictures taken for that vacation.

Or am I the only one who has that problem? :rotfl2:

Yeah!!!:cool1: I'm so glad to read that you're going to WDW in October! Another Brenda F&W TR!:thumbsup2

D'Oh! Just missed you! :flower3:

Thanks for the pre-vacation good vibes - we're looking forward to a do-over and we've already picked out a couple of new restaurants that we're hoping to try. Citricos is at the top of the list!

:goodvibes
