Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Brenda,
Sorry I am showing up fashionably late, love the food report so far:goodvibes OMG when did ya let Plankton get near a computer?:rotfl2: Keep it coming, girl:lmao:

Hi Jusmom! How the heck are you? And while I'm sure you're fashionable you are in no way late ... I think I just started this a week ago.

Glad you like our newest take on Disney Dining. :goodvibes As for Plankton ... he just came home from a cruise with some friends and I think he must have snuck into the internet cafe. How else can I explain his having a DIS account and an email address? :confused3

You know what we found on this trip ... a Spud Tropper pin to go with the Darth Tater. Did they have those when you were at WDW in May? I don't seem to recall seeing them before.

Great update Breenda - I am seriously looking forward to trying Food and Wine again in 2009 - it seems so far away though :sad2:

For now, I am living vicariously through your foody report - and it's great. More please :)

Thanks Joh! 2009 does seem like a long time to wait, but it will get here fast - it always does.

GREAT review Brenda!! Oh my gosh, the comment about the sad old non-Chinese puppets made me laugh!!

Can't wait for your Jiko review, it's one of the places we're considering for next year :teeth:

Hi Hayley! Those puppets really do look sad, don't they? Maybe they've been waiting there a long time for someone to take them home.

I'll try to get Jiko up soon - it was terrific!

oybolshoi, there is no way that I can keep up with everyone. I can barely remember people's screen names let alone their real names and details of their 'real' lives. How do you do that? It would come in handy to have that skill. Might even be able to remember my grandkid's names then. (just kidding folks, even I am not that bad) :rotfl2:

There is a lot of 'wit' on this thread. Unfortunately I am only able to 'half' keep up with you all. :rolleyes1

Now I am off to figure out how to get the patio table into the garage without killing myself. What I lack in strength I make up for in ingenuity though. I also have bookmarks to make for my readers, if I can figure out how to get the pics off my SD card since Kodak is not answering my many emails about their defunct program. I am thinking I need a new camera for Christmas. Nikon??

SG/Linda

Hey Linda! This thread is hopping, that's for sure. As for the memory ... since this is our third go-round of dining reviews in the last year I've had a lot of practice reading posts and a lot of it just seems to stick. There's a lot of very clever people hanging around here and many of them are so funny that it helps me to remember the details.

And I don't get the impression that you are a half-wit at all. ;)

Good luck with the furniture. As for the camera ... the hubby just gave me a new digital for my birthday: Olympus FE-280 / 8 megapixels. It's got a nice sized screen so that I can see what I'm trying to photograph, and the user guide is actually in the camera - that's way cool for someone like me who is technically challenged in many ways that do not bear mentioning here.

Have a great day everyone - I'm off to the wonderful world of finance. :scared:

PS. Can I just say that cream of wheat for first breakfast followed by a yoplait whip for second breakfast just can't compare with those cruddy eclairs from the Boardwalk Bakery? :rotfl2:

You know what we found on this trip ... a Spud Tropper pin to go with the Darth Tater. Did they have those when you were at WDW in May? I don't seem to recall seeing them before.

But did you see the new Disney Exclusive Star Wars Mr. Potato Heads? Luke Frywalker, Princess Tater, Yam Solo, Darth Mash, and Spuda Fett. A must have for all of us Star Wars/Mr Potato Head Geeks. Available at the toy storee in DTD!!!

Actually we did see those as we were leaving the Star Wars / Star Tours store at MGM. We also saw them at DTD and while we thought they were funny, they just can't compare with Darth Tater and the Spud Trooper.

Those first two are the best ... :lmao:

Hey Brenda -

Loved your reviews of the F&WF booths. I really had a great time trying things at those booths!

I can't wait for Jiko, as it is a restaurant we have not eaten at. I look forward to hearing (reading) what you have to say about it.

Ms. H

Brenda,

Wonderful food report so far. I really enjoyed it last year and look forward to seeing and reading more. The pictures of Plankton are so cute. :)

Wow, this thread is moving! I'm loving it, you get funnier by the minute! :lmao: Brenda what are we all going to do without your reviews for 2 yeeeaaaars?????!!!! Maybe we'll have to pass the hat to send You, Jay & the furry little green guy back next year!

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thought that cheese plate was blah. That sushi looked wonderful though, glad you decided to try new foods this trip! :goodvibes

It has occurred to me that since I have to pick up a grandchild from basketball practice that I might get him to help me move the table. Wish me luck. :thumbsup2

oybolshoi, maybe if I did not respond to 2300 emails and posts a day I might be able to keep better track? :confused3

I am an electronic nut and refuse to read the directions, on screen or not - takes the fun out of things and I am always so pleased when I finally figure something out. Also, cause it is so hard I tend to remember what I did so I can either replicate it if it is something that I want to repeat or not. :rotfl2:

shovan, pass the hat this way. If I cannot be there this is the next best thing. Do you think I will get my Sept TR started before I leave on my next trip? I am intimidated by this one though. I could not compete.

Ms. Heimlich, have I ever told you that I love your screen name? I bet you maneuver quite well.

Gotta go check the truck's fluids. Since it gets driven about 200 a miles a year it is harder to keep up with than the car I drive.

SG/Linda

Brenda,
Thanks for the heads up about the new pin...we will be back this May for another adventure:goodvibes and I will keep an eye out:thumbsup2

If I were you, I'd wait until Brenda's review is finished! ;) All others pale in comparison!

You've got that right - - you can just finish a great dinner - read her report - and by gosh - you are starving again!!

Brenda is the best!!!!

Even make me want to eat!

Cheerior's for dinner last night!! Have to improve on my culinary skills!

Am really enjoying this report thanks, and am glad you enjoyed the food from the New Zealand booth we have fabulous food in New Zealand one of the things I miss living in the UK so it is nice to know that when were at at WDW next year I can get a bit of a fix.

Cheers Kirsten

*peeks in to see if Brenda skipped work today in order to write a few new installments*

:rolleyes1

I can dream can't I??? :rotfl:

after reading all the sushi stuff it occurs to me that if you never stayed for the last show at the adventurers club you would never have heard this song (and a lot of other good ones that don't fit the report so well)

I am from Minnesota
I went to Tokyo ta
Visit the land of enchantment
And quaint pagoda

I almost died
The night they tried
To make me eat that yucky sushi

They said it tastes so yummy
But man, I ain’t no dummy
I knew no way that would stay
Down in my tummy

I took a bite
And I was right
No likee icky yucky sushi.

It took some wine
But I finally agreed
To eat that dish
Of dead fish and seaweed

What happened next, I don’t know
I loosened my kimono
And made a noise like the voice
Of Yoko Ono

And just like that
Right on the mat
Me sicky icky yucky sushi.

Don’t eat raw squid
Like I did,
Cause it’s true,
It makes you do
Just like you got the flu.

So if you’re in Nagoya
Here’s a suggestion for ya,
Take my advice, stick with rice,
Think twice before ya
Bow in disgrace
Lose lunch and face,
No picky icky yucky sushi.

No likee icky yucky sushi.

Upchucky icky yucky sushi.

LOVE IT!!!!! I had forgotten all about this!! Thanks for the memory!

Did you know that the puppets could sing? And since there was a Communist party puppet in the mix, it seemed prudent to ask them to sing a "party" song. Plankton may be diabolical, but he's also pretty shrewd. :thumbsup2

The thing that I always notice is that these puppets all look like people of Western European descent ... none of them appear to be remotely Chinese. Made in China but not of China - I think those two white-haired puppets on the very end of the bottom row have realized it, and that is why they are so sad. That, or they just finished drinking some Skunky Singing Toe beer.

Hey! That commie taught me his songs too!

You really didn't miss much by not attending the beer seminar - maybe they'll work on improving it next year.

Brenda, it's pretty much the same every year...we do have about fifty of those bottle openers in the house now so every car, cooler and kitchen drawer is well stocked.

I always grabbed a beer at the Hops & Barley before hopping on the line...made the seminar seem more interesting every time.

Hi there Brenda! Just found your Food Trippie and I am in stitches! I have already snorted diet pepsi through my nose three times :lmao:

Can't wait to hear about Jiko's popcorn::

Pepsi snorting - - that burns!! See Brenda, one smart girl - she just gives us a little at a time - - gives the lining of our noses time to heal until the next installment!

It's totally interfering with the Dis...

I have a lot of catching up to do...what's this I hear about sushi?! :goodvibes

Hi there Brenda!

I finally made it over here and just caught up to page 14:thumbsup2 - excellent as usual.

Loving it so far...although I have to defend my little nephew now dont I;)

... taking me to Disney... stuffed inside that little bag... you'd think I could get my own seat... then riding around in that malodorous cargo pocket... it's not easy to breathe in there, you know...

and when it's time for some high class, fancy dining; I'm abandoned in that little hotel room with a couple of slack-jawed towel chickens for company... you'd think they could at least leave the tv on for me :happytv:

Poor little chap - someone ought to take him on a cruise or something to get over his anxieties:rolleyes1 :lmao:
