Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

I really need to stop looking at food porn before I go to bed. It just makes me hungry! Even after my not so satisfying bowl of popcorn, I am tempted to go rip in to a packet of starkist and eat it plain. I've never tried sushi, but it looks amazing! Salmon, shrimp, crab, what's not to like???

I need to stop posting food porn before I go to bed. ;)

We picked "tame" sushi on purpose for the food wimp that still lives within my belly. I think that as I try it more I will probably enjoy it more and my "taste" will grow up.

Gosh Brenda, if your work is interfearing with your food posts, I think you need to quit! Priorities girl!

Heh heh heh! I'll have a little talk with my boss tomorrow and see what we can work out. :lmao:

oybolshoi has done 9 pages of yummy food & funny dialogue and NO ONE told me!!!!!!!! ARRRRGH!!!!! I've been missing out on all the fun! :sad1:

Hi Brenda & Jay :wave2: We had a fun time hanging with y'all for the Party for the Senseless! I know was pretty Senseless by the end of the evening!

Hi Sheryl! I've been thinking about you guys and was meaning to go back and post on the PFTS thread to say hello to everyone again. We really enjoyed meeting you both and had so much fun sharing the evening with you guys!

Sorry Jay wasn't feeling well. We looked for you guys at Coral Reef & was wondering what the heck happened. I couldn't imagine YOU missing out on ANY Food!!! It was very good you would have enjoyed it! I'll have to post the pics of that somewhere. I don't think I'll get to do a review this time, I'm in the midst of remodeling hell & everything here is in a real state of confusion.

Thanks - Jay was suffering through one of those illnesses where he'd feel good for a while (Saturday night) and then he'd feel really bad again (Sunday afternoon...Monday evening...Wednesday). I was really bummed to cancel that pairing at Coral Reef - the folks at F&W were actually very nice and are even going to give us a refund since we canceled due to illness. I didn't expect that at all, so it was a nice gesture on their part.

I'd love to hear all about it and see pictures, too, if you have time. You can feel free to post it here if you'd like and if that makes it easier for you - I don't mind. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it! Good luck with the remodeling - sending good thoughts your way!

Fellow Brenda groupies, I have to tell y'all Brenda & Jay are as much fun in person as they are here. But they are even nicer people in person. And when that girl says she loves food she really means it! We are leaving the Party, DH & I were both overful about an hour earlier. And what does Brenda say as she's leaving from several hours of nonstop eating & drinking? She thinks they should go find something else to eat!!!!!!!!! That little bitty skinny girl must have a tape-worm!!!! :confused3 ;)

Awww, thanks so much Sheryl. :flower3: Jay and I were on our good behavior that night. And it's true ... when my stomach grumblies get kicking I turn into a bottomless pit. Jay's been giving me trouble about that since we got home - he swears I've picked up a Peruvian tapeworm since I can't seem to get enough food lately.

And may I just say - you and Bob were just lovely. We really enjoyed your company and hope that we'll have a chance to meet up again over tasty WDW food some day in the future.

Reading this thread...I have one simple thought. Next year, I wanna go.

Thanks for reading and if you get the chance - GO!!!

Brenda, magnificent update my dear - I commend you. I was giggling in so many places, it beggars belief :rotfl: I am so sorry that Jay fell ill and I hope it didn't ruin your trip (or gastronomic pleasures) too much.

Hi Joh - thanks for reading and I'm glad you liked it. Jay being sick was a bummer but we made it through as best we could. I guess missing some things gives us extra incentive to get back down there in a few years.

I may never be able to look at puppets again.....

The thoughts that now are going to run through my head will send me into giggles and make any store clerk hurridly push me out of the store on the threat that I am some kind of Puppet Pervert.....

I am doomed....

Bwhahahahaha! Puppet pervert ... perish the thought! :lmao:

Haha. Shaun & his friend tried that beer in June and they both said that exact same thing. Lucky his friend's gf got the peach schnapps wine slushie so they were able to get that nasty taste out of their mouths.

Loving it so far!

Hey Melissa! Thanks for stopping in. While I'm sorry to hear that so many people appear to have suffered by trying skunky Chinese beer, it's nice to know that we're not the only ones who didn't like it. I guess China needs to stick with the Green Tea Plum Wine Cooler, 'cause that baby is the bomb-bah!

Not that I am glad you didn't enjoy your cheese sampler, but I am glad you didn't, because it means that it was not just me who didn't get it. I didn't even realize the cheese was supposedly different, and I thought the chutney was yucky. Being someone who loves cheese, but not being someone who goes around sampling, I kept thinking I was missing something. Apparently it was just a bad cheese plate.

I can't say that we didn't enjoy the cheese plate, but those were some pretty tasteless, bland cheese samples. I like a lot of cheeses, too, and this was definitely a disappointment.

And what is the deal with October? Last year it was so cold I had to wear a sweatshirt, this year it was too hot! I did manage to sample some wine, but alcohol + heat = sleepy me. I am in awe of all of the folks who can drink and drink and drink in the hot sun, and not want to take a nap somewhere in the showcase. Maybe the Japan pavillion needs some of those pod hotels where people could grab a quick nap, and then back out for more beverage fun.

The weather has been weird for us during our last two October visits, too. Last year it started out really hot, then got freezing cold, and by the time we left it was just right. This year was very hot and humid for our entire visit .. I would have preferred more "typical" weather but at the end of the day we were still on vacation so I'll take that as opposed to being herded into my cube-farm.

And we can't drink too much when it's that hot - especially at a theme park. That's just asking for a reversal of fortune. ;)

You're right, Brenda, the puppets look like they belong in Muppetvision 3D. DD was intent on finding a Chinese fan she had pined over since last year, so I didn't even notice these puppets. You'll be glad to know our little darling did not tantrum (until we reached France....but that's another story.)

The F&W stuff looked pretty good--we were on DDP and could not find room for another bite (unless it was fermented, or frozen and boozy;) ), so I love getting to eat vicariously through y'all. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for reading - glad you're enjoying the food love. Don't those puppets look like they're singing? We just couldn't resist nabbing a picture of Planky with them. And I didn't mean to be too harsh about the tantrum thing - it happens to grown-ups, too. Actually... we saw a couple of adult tanturms over there along with the kids! :lmao:

Isn't Irish Brown Bread the BEST?! I love it. And I can't find it anywhere but in Ireland. Brown bread isn't "wheat bread" as so many people have tried to placate my brown bread desire with. YES wheat bread is brownish in color but it's NOT Irish brown bread! That is always the first thing I eat when I go visit family in Ireland. My Auntie Kathleen always has it waiting, WITH the Irish butter churned in country Kerry, when we arrive. If I lived in Ireland full time I would be a FATTY Boo-baLATTY b/c of all the brown bread consumption I would immerse myself in!!

I keep anticipating Jay's sickness and I feel badly for him...that is the worst thing in the world...being sick...at the World! Poor guy.

Oh...and the Kajmir...yeah...yum on that one...but I can only have a TEENSY sip...seriously, more than that and I'm a drunken daisy...:cool1:

YAY!! More food porn please!!!

PS-is Grimace going to make an appearance?! Oh I HOPE SO!!! Jason LIKES IT when I don't wear pants!! :cool1: :rotfl2:

Hi Campbell! That bread was soooo tasty - I thought initially it was going to be like soda bread, but I don't think that was it. Can you tell me - what's the big deal supposed to be about the Kerrygold butter? I didn't really pick up a difference between it and American butter.

Yeah, sick at the world stink-didley-inks, but it could have been worse.

No Grimace this year - she was cat-sitting for us instead of traveling with us. I think that worked out well for all parties involved ... except the cat. ;)

PS. He still likes it when I don't wear pants, but this year I managed not to scream that information out loud in front of dozens of guests in Mousegear. :lmao:

Great update as usual B. But I must comment on pic:

"I spy, with my one little eye, a long white object which it's birth was the culprit of a weeklong absence of the internet in O'Fallon".

Am I right, am I right??

Hi Mother Goose! Thanks for coming over to read. And yes... if you see that wooden fence out the window to the left, you'll see the culprit!

Brenda - I think they put those type of toys in the front so parent will buy them but yes it makes a very noisy let down for the kids. It's kind of like in the grocery store in the checkout line with all of the candy. Love your report.

Thanks for reading Laura. I guess I shouldn't be so mean to China ... I know there are lots of areas where merchandise is "planted" to grab the eyes of the little ones and the money of the parents.

Yay plankton!

I'm sure Plankton completely agrees with you. ;)

I kept saying to Lionel:

"The road to Pearville was paved with good intentions."

Until he told me it wasn't funny anymore.

Great updates!

Erica! Thanks for coming by. And I think it's funny ... :lmao:

Wonderful! I`ve read through quickly - however I`ll read again and take notes. The No Way Jose looks great, I`ve tried two in the past both were fab though the second was ruined by my husband looking both disapproving and embarrassed at the same time (quite a feat) next time I`m going to ask them to make a smaller version Really looking forward to reading about Jiko - do hurry back.

Hi there - thanks for reading and I'm glad to know that you're enjoying the report so far. Yummmmm ... No Way Jose .. I wish I were eating it right now. Really, I do ... I'm hungry again!

I hope to have Jiko posted in another day or two - it was excellent!

oybolshoi, I have always been cracked but you made me break into smaller pieces. :rotfl2:

SG

You're killing me ... are you a comedy writer on the side or something? :rotfl2:

oybolshoi -
I so agree on the character meals! I miss Akershus when they had 500% more varieties of herring and 99% less princesses. princess:

Hi there - thanks for stopping by! We never had a chance to try Akershus when it was real Norweigan food - it was always on the list but we never made it. And while I have nothing against character meals, it's a shame that they had to destroy the food / menu in order to create one there. Couldn't they just have a Princess breakfast and turn back the clock for lunch and dinner? :confused3

After reading your review of the beer tasting, I'm not so upset that I totally missed it this year! I kept looking for one like you went to last year, thought I just missed seeing it in the program.

Thanks for all the lovely pictures of the F&W food booths, we were there opening weekend and I wouldn't have been able to get a picture of the booths for all the crowds of people around them! And if there was a booth that didn't have a crowd, I probably wouldn't have eaten there, wondering if people knew something about the food that I didn't.... ;)

Thanks again for the reviews, they are helping me manage my Disney World withdrawal a bit better.

You really didn't miss much by not attending the beer seminar - maybe they'll work on improving it next year.

Glad you like the pictures - we didn't take pictures of all of the booths because we got a lot last year, but I will certainly post pictures of the ones that we did take this year. And don't let the lack of a line fool you - there was no one at the New Zealnd booth the day we went there, and everything we had was terrific!

Thanks again for reading - doing this helps me manage my WDW withdrawal, too. :goodvibes

oybolshoi, yep, I AM a comedy writer on the side, my backside. :rotfl2:

Actually I have a crappy life and laughing is how I cope. It takes a special skill to find something funny in most situations that would drive most to suicide. I would never do that cause I do not know how to swim and blood makes me faint. :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

SG/Linda

Another great installment - I'm so glad I actually caught this baby from the start! How did you find the sushi? I've never ever tried it, although in my head it tastes like smoked salmon, which I don't like!

I forgot to mention before that I love the name of the trippie! The episode has one of my favourite 'lesser-characters' Serak the Preparer... I've slaved in the kitchen for days! Me and DBF are Simpsons Nuts too!

Ooh ooh, and I'm also glad that I'm not the only person in the world who hates ketchup... everyone over here thinks I'm nuts!

The sushi tasted nothing like salmon, except when it included salmon. ;)

Thanks for reading along Hayley ... and I'm going to do my best not to make Serak the Preparer cry. :goodvibes

Brenda, Thank you for taking the time to write and post such wonderful reviews! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to reading them as we plan for our December trip.:dance3: K

Thanks for reading - glad you're enjoying them so far. I hope you have a great trip!

That sushi looks beautiful but ewww ewww ewww :scared:

How could you order a mint drink when you don't like mint? :rotfl2:

It was lovely ... and Jason says it tasted great!

As for the drink ... you ask a fair question and the answer is that I didn't realize from the description that it was supposed to be a Japanese take on the mojito. A hint of mint is fine, but this was swimming in mint leaves and I found it overpowering.

great report and pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

EWWWWWW Raw Bait!!

I know some sushi is cooked, but it still looks like bait to this Tennessee Country girl! And my brother, who lived in Japan for 4 years doing deep, dark secret government work (I still think he was just there trying to undermine the whole society by singing Karaoke!) loved it too, but would still have me send him some "Pioneer Gravy Mix" packages to use on board ship, when he would go out with the Japanese Navy. (See, it really was top secret! How else could a 6'2" red-headed, potbelly balding man with a huge tatoo that said "Southern Born, Southern Bred", (complete with American and Confederate Flags) fit in?) Gosh that's a lot of parentheses!

And as for next October, maybe, maybe....

And Mango in Paris is one of my favS!!

All of our sushi was cooked. And I just wonder ... how many fishies could you catch if you used sushi as bait? :lmao:

Your brother sounds like he has some interesting stories to tell ... and now you've given me a great visual! :rotfl2:

Mmmmmm... Last Mango in Paris. :thumbsup2

I had a great day today. One of my prereaders read his first real book today, all the way through AND to his younger brother who was enthralled. I live for moments like this!!:thumbsup2

Chocolate sushi? I just lost five pounds thinking of that. The only fish I can stomach is shrimp.

I have heard of using a rubber band on your chopsticks to make them easier to use. I would just 'spear' the food. I once had a spoon with holes in the bowl that was called a diet spoon. :lmao:

I do not care for elaborate food so the No Way Jose did not appeal to me either. I do not like banana splits. My favorite ice cream is the McD's cone. Only 140 calories and about a dollar. My kind of thing.

Youngsters all! I am so old I remember way back before there was a Reese Peanut Butter Cup. All hail the inventor so it though, a god among gods to my way of thinking. I have not had one in over three years and may never have one again but memories linger on. :cloud9:

Sorry for not responding correctly but I have had a full day and am hoping for a bit of sleep before I have to wake up and do it all over again. :dance3:

SG/Linda

I'm a few days late responding but it sounds like this was a good day, so woohoo for you!

They did offer beginner chopsticks at Kimonos, but I was having too much fun making a mess and letting Jay laugh at me to ask for them.

And don't apologize ... you can respond any old way you want to on this thread. Well, as long as you don't say something to offend the soullless dominions of orthodoxy. I'm not exactly sure what that would be, but I'm just saying I wouldn't want you to end up in hot water because of us. :goodvibes

Hi Brenda! :wave2:

I've been avoiding the Food threads because since I'm diabetic now - I can't eat all that wonderful food and it makes me a little sad to read along... but if it's YOUR thread I simply cannot resist~ ! :thumbsup2

Your leg regenerated itself nicely. It looks just like the original. ;)

Hi Cass! Glad to see you here but so sorry to hear about your diabetes. I hope you're taking extra good care of yourself and that you are feeling well. I'm honored that you'd pop back in to check up on our trip.

And thanks for the compliment on the leg ... I spent the better part of the summer trying to grow that sucker back. :rotfl2:

So, I de-lurked myself over on Argle-Bargle- but way late and I think I must re-de-lurk now, instead of assuming familiarity.

I am excited to read another food report of yours and laugh :lmao: at your awesome captions and wittiness, (and then call my mom (wdwthanksgiving) to see if she laughed at your written hilarity at the same places as I)

Looking forward to the next episode! :)

Hi there and thanks for posting - I'm glad you're here and de-cloaked! Thanks so much for your lovely compliments - you've made my day. :goodvibes

Well the THING about Kerrygold butter is that the cows in County Kerry are fed Guinness...they are drunken Irish cows...they stagger around mooing Irish drinking songs and dancing like Michael Flately...and as the commercial says...happy cows make yummy butter...or something like that...plus the butter that is produced by Kerry Cows can get one totally tipsy...if one were to snarf down a whole brick of it!!!

seriously...my granddad said so!

*ahem*

and it's supposed to be real country creamery butter...no additives...aside from the Guinness..

:)

Bummer about the Sam Adams seminar. I sure hope y'all didn't have to pay for four piddly swallers of beer. I might have demanded my duckets back!

you are a better trip writer than me...you produce chapters in a timely manner...and people don't get mad at you and send you menacing PM's about when the next chapter is going to be up.

*ahem*

:goodvibes

MORE PLEASE!!!!popcorn::

Yeah! Welcome back!
Tell Jason I'm glad he's feeling better. Peanut Butter cups is my absolute favorite food. I was practically licking the screen when I saw the No Way Jose!We are all rather new sushi converts around here (except the 4 year old) and were rather disappointed that the Japanese restaurants were closed when we were there in August. Kimonos seems like a good alternative.
I look forward to reading more.

Hello!! Thanks for reading. Jay is totally back to "normal" now and bemoaning the fact that he basically missed five days of fabulous food thanks to that virus. Kimonos would be a great choice if you like sushi.
Great Report so far...I'm in! And now I'm thinking of checking out Kimonos!!! It looked YUMMY!

Hi Kat! Thanks for popping in to read. Kimonos was great - if you have time and you like sushi you should give it a try.

Wow !

You guys are nothing short of *delightful* !

A wicked sense of humor, and Simpsons fans to boot....

*woot*

ahem... pardon my outburst.... I'm just this side of giddy.

Nice to know this site features such kind folks as yourselves...

Hello there and thanks for the kind words! Jay and I are much more interesting on paper than we are in person, but hopefully you'll enjoy the food love with us and get a few laughs as well. And ... there are some great people on this website ... and certainly hanging on this thread so if you have any questions feel free to ask away. :goodvibes

Apologies for my tardiness but I'm here now - love the look of those burgers and the No Way Jose (although I have to block out the peanut butter thing or else I'd be retching my way through those photos )

I have to say, sushi is something which I couldn't bring myself to even try - bravo to you for giving it a go. Keep those reports coming

Hi Joh! Thanks for joining us - I hope you enjoy the rest!

:lmao: He is good!!!!!

He is good, isn't he? Sometimes I think he should be writing these reports.

Oohh...A new Brenda report! I'm soooo happy!!!

Aww, thanks! I'm glad you're joining us for this last bit of food love. :goodvibes

Regardless of the fact that we are eating at a few of the restaurants (Kona, CP, Le Cellier, Sci-Fi) that you are reviewing here, I would read any reviews by you for the sheer enjoyment!! You're a hoot! There is nothing as good as an honest review, unless it is an honest review by a comedy writer!

Hello and thanks for reading! You are too kind, but thanks for letting us know how much you're enjoying our reviews so far.

 Woo hoo! A new Brenda trip report :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Glad to see your leg is back and can't wait to read more

Thanks for stopping by - it's good to hear from you again! And thanks for the compliment on my leg ... :rotfl2: I'm never going to live that down. Where is DisneyDuet ... she's the one that started all the "missing leg" jokes. :confused3

I can't believe I'm three days and seven pages behind!! Thanks for the heads-up that this report was in progress. That darned WORK keeps getting in the way of my DIS-ing! Did you mention the Powerball?

Anyway, welcome home, and I'm glad Jay is feeling better. Can't wait to read all your fabulous reviews!:goodvibes

Hi Lori - thanks for taking the time to re-live the food love with us again! Sorry to hear about the craziness at work ... sadly I know all about that. Hope things calm down for you soon and be sure to check out the first of our F&W posts - there are some great Plankton pics your son might enjoy. :goodvibes

So So SO glad to see you back with a new adventure!!! Y'all look FANTASTIC!! Healthy and happy and yay!!!

you are hilarious as usual. I have my drink recipes ala Brenda notebook out and ready to go!!! CHEERS!!!!

can't wait for more!!!

Hi Campbell - thanks for coming over to read our newest food trippie! And thanks for the kind words - until Jay got sick we were feeling great, too. We'd been doing a really good job of walking every day and watching our diets ... I'd only lost about 6 pounds but I managed to lose two inches off my waist before we left for WDW. Woo hoo!!

Hope you enjoy the rest of our reviews!

Yay, Brenda is BACK!!! And on page 7 already.

Sushi... bleech :scared: No Way Jose...mmm :cloud9:

Well, since I don't have a trip planned until 2009 :sad1: I haven't been DISing. It's just too painful. But now I guess I'll just have to suck it up.

I can't wait to hear about your trip. And you've even got my dh hooked. He's now a lurker and he's the one who let me know about the new trippie.

btw: Chocolate Frosty and hot salty fries = :cloud9:

Thanks for coming back to read through this with us - it wouldn't be the same without you and I know how much you like those Plankton pics! Tell your DH I said thanks, btw. And I love chocolate frosties, but all the Wendys franchies in our area are closed and I can't get them any longer.

As for that 2009 trip - it will be here before you know it!

I've decided not to lurk this time around while reading your report. Thanks for all the yummy descriptions and Simpsons quotes. I can't see your pictures, though, and I was really hoping to see that sushi. Must be something with our computer. My husband and I are planning on making a trip over to Kimonos during our December trip. We will also be staying at the Beach Club. I can't wait to read more reviews!

Hi there, thanks for reading and for posting - I hope our reviews are helpful for your upcoming trip. The Beach Club is a great location - you will love it!

The pictures are showing up fine for us on both computers, so I'm not sure why you're having problems. Any guesses from the techo-fiends in the peanut gallery? ;)

Brenda,

I'm so happy you've started your report. Thanks for the notice!
I've been out of town, so missed it this weekend.

I swear, your writing just gets better and better.

Thanks for the kind words, Deb. I'm getting better because I've had so much practice here this year! :lmao:

Say it isn't so about not going back for two years. Hey fellow dissers and Brenda groupies, how about if we all campaign for Brenda and Jay to get an extra week of vacation next year. How could theirbosses refuse their adoring fans? I still think you'll manage to sneak another one in. If not, you'll need to post your Universal TR.

It's true... not going back before Fall 2009 unless there is an unexpected windfall. Oh well, we'll just appreciate it that much more once we get back. And it's not a vacation time issue ... he gets four weeks and I get three, it's a vacation point / money issue this time. And the fact that we want to do some different things for a while. Variety ... like our liquour cabinet(s). :goodvibes

Sadly, we came to our financial senses and decided not to do a turnaround trip this year. Heads up, w'lll be at next year's PFTS on the 18th of October, along with my 21 yr old daughter who would so appreciate you. I would be so thrilled to see you and Jay there. Pretty please. Waiting for tonight's installment...

Deb

I appreciate the heads up and I promise, if something changes, we'll do our best to be there next year. We loved PFTS and it would be so much fun to meet you and your daughter.

The beer seminar was "free" - just the price of theme park admittance. Had we been required to pay extra I would definitely have asked for a refund.

You're a great TR writer, you silly! And I seem to recall that timely updates and oybolshoi are antonyms of each other ... I still haven't finished last October's trip report! :rotfl2:

I do hope you're joking about scary PMs ... you let those folks know that they can't rush updates if they want them to be good. And yours are good.

Now that's completely inaccurate.... you two aren't the least bit interesting on paper.

:rotfl2:

OK Plankton - - not interesting on paper - your opinion - but I'll bet they are pretty interesting in person!!!!

Remember - they are the ones that take you to Disney!! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I know it! Seriously..what an ungrateful little twerp ;)

Hey pal, must we contact a moderator on you? I smell trouble brewing and it aint pretty. ;)

no, no... that's... uh... coffee brewing.... *sniff* *sniff* mmmm, smells delightful :rolleyes1

OK Plankton - - not interesting on paper - your opinion - but I'll bet they are pretty interesting in person!!!!

yes, very interesting in person.... taking me to Disney... stuffed inside that little bag... you'd think I could get my own seat... then riding around in that malodorous cargo pocket... it's not easy to breathe in there, you know...

and when it's time for some high class, fancy dining; I'm abandoned in that little hotel room with a couple of slack-jawed towel chickens for company... you'd think they could at least leave the tv on for me :happytv:

don't say something to offend the soulless dominions of orthodoxy.

oybolshoi, the problem with soulless people is that they seldom have brains and NEVER have a sense of humor so most anything will offend them, even if they do not understand what was said. Orthodox? Me?? Surely you jest. :upsidedow

Sheldon J. Plankton, I simply love the smell of both coffee and gasoline but have no desire to drink either one. :rotfl2:

I'm late showing up to this party but I'm here. Only to page 2 but wanted to say that I LOVE french fries in mustard and have since a little girl. I've converted DH & DS#1 but DS#2 is a ketchup boy EEWWW.
Looking forward to catching up.

After zipping through and laughing at moments that brought husband in from the other room to be nosy I have to conclude with others that it's great to have another trippie. (man that was one helava run on sentence)
DH agrees whole heartedly with the Schlafly tribute. It is his all time 2nd favorite, Bass being the first. He seems to spend quite a few lunches there since the bottleworks opened a few miles from his work in Maplewood.
Can't wait to here more.
Can't wait to be there in 2 1/2 weeks.

Now that's completely inaccurate.... you two aren't the least bit interesting on paper.

:lmao: Called out by a stuffed, plush green toy.

Hey pal, must we contact a moderator on you? I smell trouble brewing and it aint pretty. ;)

Hey MG, thanks for the back-up but we don't need to get the powers that be involved do we? I think someone just needs to recover from his cruise.

OK Plankton - - not interesting on paper - your opinion - but I'll bet they are pretty interesting in person!!!!

Remember - they are the ones that take you to Disney!! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Actually, we're pretty boring in person, too; but thanks!

I know it! Seriously..what an ungrateful little twerp ;)

Hi Gina! Plankton's been busy today ... he must have run off to the library to use the local wi-fi because I haven't see him since last night. ;)

no, no... that's... uh... coffee brewing.... *sniff* *sniff* mmmm, smells delightful :rolleyes1

Since when do you drink coffee?

yes, very interesting in person.... taking me to Disney... stuffed inside that little bag... you'd think I could get my own seat... then riding around in that malodorous cargo pocket... it's not easy to breathe in there, you know...

and when it's time for some high class, fancy dining; I'm abandoned in that little hotel room with a couple of slack-jawed towel chickens for company... you'd think they could at least leave the tv on for me :happytv:

OK ... someone obviously didn't get his nap today. If you keep this up you can just stay home next May when we go to Las Vegas.

Now say goodnight to all these nice people. :goodvibes

oybolshoi, the problem with soulless people is that they seldom have brains and NEVER have a sense of humor so most anything will offend them, even if they do not understand what was said. Orthodox? Me?? Surely you jest. :upsidedow

I love to jest but not to joust ... well, not with those long lances that could put an eye out. ;)

Sheldon J. Plankton, I simply love the smell of both coffee and gasoline but have no desire to drink either one. :rotfl2:

The true test of friendship is when you can insult each other without repercussions other than laughter. Good friends are found here. :grouphug:

SG

It's true - there are definitely good people here at the DIS. :thumbsup2

I'm late showing up to this party but I'm here. Only to page 2 but wanted to say that I LOVE french fries in mustard and have since a little girl. I've converted DH & DS#1 but DS#2 is a ketchup boy EEWWW.
Looking forward to catching up.
Angela

ETA
After zipping through and laughing at moments that brought husband in from the other room to be nosy I have to conclude with others that it's great to have another trippie. (man that was one helava run on sentence)
DH agrees whole heartedly with the Schlafly tribute. It is his all time 2nd favorite, Bass being the first. He seems to spend quite a few lunches there since the bottleworks opened a few miles from his work in Maplewood.
Can't wait to here more.
Can't wait to be there in 2 1/2 weeks.

Hi Angela, thanks for taking a read; no one is ever late to this party! And go you on the mustard conversion!

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the reviews so far - it's been fun to go through all the pictures again and remember how good everything was (sun...vacation...food...alcohol before noon...) just three weeks ago.

Hope you all have a wonderful vacation - sounds like you will be at WDW around Thanksgiving. Am I right?

Mmmmm.... the Tap Room. We haven't been there in forever - it's just such a long drive from our house that it's hard on the weekend to justify a 90-mile round trip.

Thanks again! :goodvibes

You have a very loyal following which is a rare thing. Maybe you should go submit some of your stuff to a publishing company. What could it hurt?? Sorry to hear that your DH had such a rough trip. Life happens I guess. Looking forward to your reviews none the less as usual! :goodvibes

Thanks very much ... we do have a fun group of people that like to relive the food love with us and the more the merrier! It's a great way to "fix" the trip in our minds.

And as for publishing ... I've been thinking about it a lot. What's a few more rejection notices, right?

And thanks for the kind words about the DH - he'll tell you it could have been a lot worse but we all know it stinks to be a sicky at WDW. Bad enough when it happens in the comfort of your own home, but on vacation... :scared:

Brenda, wouldn't that whole work thing be so much less stressful if you could pick and choose when you wanna do it? It'd be like this, "Um. sorry, Boss, but I have to update my food porn report for my adoring fans..... maybe later, fella...." You are worth waiting for- don't worry about us!

:lmao: It's true. And I have a boss with a great sense of humor but I don't think he'd find this kind of conversation funny. Thanks for reading!

Another good one my friend.......:thumbsup2

Love the pic of y'all in front of the window in the hotel room. Your hair is pretty.

The sushi is lost on me. If it didn't grow on me after living in Oki for 3 years, I don't think it ever will. Now, the Kirin or Orion beer....well, that's a different story....

Oh, and, I WANT A NO WAY JOSE!

Looking forward to the next installment.

Did I mention we all missed y'all on the cruise?:grouphug:

Paige, thanks for coming over to read while you're trying to recover from that fabulous cruise. And thanks for the compliment ... I don't usually wear my hair down ... too much trouble. But it worked that night ... for about an hour. ;)

You be sure to get a No Way Jose when you're at WDW this summer! And we missed you guys, too.

LOL! You guys aren't alone. We are all having a hard time getting back to normal over here. We've been out to eat no less than 5 times since we've been home, and it's just not the same. We are spoiled. There's absolutley no doubt about it. I'm going to look through the F&W Fest cookbook and start making stuff. Maybe that will help...

Hi Michelle! Jay and I have been out to eat a couple of times already since coming home and you're right ... it pales in comparison.

Too funny that you mentioned the cookbook ... we were just talking about it yesterday.

Sorry you are so swamped with work. I hope it gets better soon. Our plan for tonight is to send Brenna out to trick-or-treat, then have her come back and dump out the crappy candy so we can give that out, instead of the good candy I bought. Rinse. Repeat. :thumbsup2

Take care,
-Michelle

Work for me is always a roller coaster - it's either stupidly busy or deadly slow. Right now it's getting stupidly busy because the end of the year is rapidly approaching and we are probably not going to make our growth goals. No bonus means less vacation fun for J&B.

Hope you all had a fun Halloween!

Hi, it's me....

I'm not a psycho-stalker axe murderer, but I did have the guts to accost Brenda and Jay at the BCV quiet pool. It figures it took me 8 pages of the report and replies for me to make an appearance. Better late than never!

Hi Lori! Thanks for coming by - it's hard to read other DISerts reports when you're in the middle of your own (or maybe that's my shortcoming?). It was so good to meet you in person ... I just wish I'd been more alert and less stinky / sweaty.

Everybody ... Lori walks by us at the pool and then turns around and says something along the lines of, "Hey! Aren't you those two freaks who take Plankton all over WDW with you?"

:rotfl2:

I also ate at Beaches and Cream during my trip. Completely unplanned. And I did order the No Way Jose. I also took food porn of it. I haven't gotten to your sushi review yet, but I'll get to it soon. I've gotta start thinking about creating my own food report here soon.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the reviews, and I'm sorry to hear that Jay got hit with some bad food mojo.

Can't wait to read your food porn and see the pics - I know it will be great! Thanks for reading and thanks for the good thoughts for Jay. He's all better now and wishing we could have a do-over.

oybolshoi, I have to admit after any of our lengthy vacations I get sort of sick of all the fancy food and crave a simple meal of soup, fruit and some iced tea. Of course when I am at home eating like that I have visions of all sorts of decadent, delicious delicacies.

The goblins are due any minute so I had better get my scariest face on. Oops! I already have! :scared1:

Slightly Goofy (no body is a scared of me)

I think that if we'd had our fill of all the good stuff we'd planned, we might have eased back into the "real" food world a bit more smoothly.

... :rotfl2: Who am I kidding?

You're already on page 8 and now I find you? What the heck, where was I, on a cruise without you or something?

I'm not a fan of icecream or sushi, but when someone said "Chocolate Sushi" you had my undivided attention B.

I'm here for the long haul girl. Now this is what I call entertainment at it's finest.

It's Mother Goose!! Thanks for coming by to read - you are and always will be the best!

Thanks! Great reviews.

Thanks for reading!

Woohoo! I'm a guest star! :woohoo:

Yes you are! And you will be again...just wish we'd had a chance for some pictures.

Would you believe I never made it over to the Welcome Center at ALL? And that I also had my own Buy It Right Away Syndrome, too. The aqua F&WF shirt. I saw it on the first day of my trip, but I didn't want to deal with getting it then. When I tried to find it in my size later, no dice. And damn, girl! You had a bottle of UTOPIAS in your hands and you LET IT GO?? Are you freakin' NUTS? Gah, I feel like saying, "D'oh!" right about now.

I hear ya on the aqua shirt. I also waited too long and when I went back to buy one the only size they had was a small.

We went to every place in Epcot that was selling them and no one had anything other than a small. I finally asked someone when they were getting in more and was told what I saw was it.

That makes no sense to me at all. I know they order a limited supply but how do you run out of Ladies Festival shirts in all sizes but small with 3 1/2 weeks to go in the Festival?

Oh... and I'm outraged that a F&W t-shirt for men only costs $20 but that aqua shirt specifically for ladies was $27. I resent being charged more for less material simply because I'm a woman.

And the Utopias ... we'd never tried it before and were reluctant to shell out $200 until we'd tasted it. Of course, once we tried it and loved it and went back to buy some it was also all gone.

Not a successful F&W shopping trip at all. Feel free to yell D'OH all you want ... we sure did.

I love the chilaquiles. The tomatillo sauce really makes the dish for me. Even the shaving cream was tasty! I didn't get the quesadilla for the same reason I wouldn't get the pizza in the Italy booth. It's too "normal" and everyday for me.

Jay really liked the chilaquiles, too. And they were better than I expected them to be, just not quite what I prefer. I'm not really a big fan of Mexican food anyway.

Yes, I found out I could have booked it the day before, but I decided out of spite to wash my hands of it, and I had a sushi roll at Tokyo Dining, then.

I'm beginning to regret not going to Kimono's. I've always been meaning to try it, but somehow I never get there. I could have explained the difference between sashimi and nigiri pretty simply.

Sashimi = nekkid fish
Nigiri = nekkid fish on top of a pillowy bed of sushi rice. Sometimes it's not nekkid. A nori (seaweed) wrapper is needed on some types of nigiri.
Maki = nekkid fish, sushi rice, rolled up snug as a bug in a rug...nori wrapper. Aka a "sushi roll".

ROFL! You were a sushi virgin? I would have suggested what I call "starter sushi". A California roll.

Damn, I regret not going to Kimono's. ;) Next time. Definitely next time...

You would love Kimonos - for some reason I thought you'd been there before. And thanks for the sushi lesson ... this time I will try to remember what everything means.

You know ... I did try a California Roll last year at CG, but I just don't remember much about it. I will keep that in mind for our next sushi adventure ... whenever that may be.

Thanks again for reading!

Oh goodie, another food trippie by Brenda (obvioulsy I am still sick because I meant to type Brenda and Jay and I typed Brenday :rolleyes1  )

ahem... yes maa'm can I have some more????

Hi Cass! Thanks for taking a read. I sure hope you're feeling better by now and I got a big kick out of your typo. When I get to the Bistro Paris review you'll understand why.

Oy. You've turned them into Brangelina or Bennifer.

How about Brayson? :lmao:

Sorry I'm so late to this trippie, I hate how work gets in the way of the DIS don't you?

Anywho, immensely enjoying the food porn. Reeses are my favorite so I need to make a trip to eat a Jose! :rotfl:

Hiya Jennifer! Thanks for reading and congrats to your Sox (even though I was pulling for Colorado). Work gets in the way of everything ... just the way it is unfortunately.

It's nice to hear from you!

What did one mushroom say to the other mushrooms?

Gee, you all sure are 'Fun guys"!

Hey, I am a grandma. I do not know any funnier or ornery jokes. (that I am admitting to anyway)

SG/Linda

I love jokes like that!

Hi, Brenda! Glad to see you all are back and ready to enthrall us with your adventures! But, good grief, I waited a few days to read, so I could sit down and enjoy and it's on page 8!!! Ah, but now I'm here, wineglass in hand (where IS that smilie?;) ).

So, I'm still waiting for someone to Photoshop a red Arby hat over Jason's head in the first pictures:rolleyes1 .

Yes, to mustard on pizza, not fries... No, to sushi...

YES to more food/trippie report!

Hi again and thanks for checking up on us - I think you've already caught the most recent update since I'm responding backwards this time. Love the idea about photoshopping Jason!

Brenda,
Sorry I am showing up fashionably late, love the food report so far:goodvibes OMG when did ya let Plankton get near a computer?:rotfl2: Keep it coming, girl:lmao:

Great update Breenda - I am seriously looking forward to trying Food and Wine again in 2009 - it seems so far away though :sad2:

For now, I am living vicariously through your foody report - and it's great. More please :)

GREAT review Brenda!! Oh my gosh, the comment about the sad old non-Chinese puppets made me laugh!!

Can't wait for your Jiko review, it's one of the places we're considering for next year :teeth:

oybolshoi, there is no way that I can keep up with everyone. I can barely remember people's screen names let alone their real names and details of their 'real' lives. How do you do that? It would come in handy to have that skill. Might even be able to remember my grandkid's names then. (just kidding folks, even I am not that bad) :rotfl2:

There is a lot of 'wit' on this thread. Unfortunately I am only able to 'half' keep up with you all. :rolleyes1

Now I am off to figure out how to get the patio table into the garage without killing myself. What I lack in strength I make up for in ingenuity though. I also have bookmarks to make for my readers, if I can figure out how to get the pics off my SD card since Kodak is not answering my many emails about their defunct program. I am thinking I need a new camera for Christmas. Nikon??

SG/Linda
