Is anybody here as excited about seeing this movie as I am? I've got tickets for the midnight showing and can't wait! I never thought I'd be this excited about a movie after the Harry Potter series ended. The Hunger Games books are amazing. I just started reading them a couple months ago and have read through the trilogy three times already. It sure looks like they've done a fantastic job with casting! Who could be more perfect as Peeta than Josh Hutcherson?

One more week to wait! :yay:

Edited to say that spoilers are ok!

We are also really looking forward to seeing the movie too! I just started re-reading the books again!

I disagree about the casting...I didn't picture Peeta or Gale looking like the way they've been cast BUT I'm still looking forward to the movie. I think it will definitely be interesting. Bring us back a full report (no spoilers ;-) )

I can't wait to see the movie!

I may have to see if I can talk my wife into taking me at midnight too. Who cares if I have to be at work? :lmao:

I just read The Hunger Games last week and now I've started on book 2. I've tried to stay away from the trailers so I don't know much about casting yet. I hope the movie does the book justice.

I agree. The Gale they cast is too...handsome maybe? I got the impression that Gale looked a bit more rough.

As far as Peeta goes, he kinda looks like I imagined. But a bit too baby faced. I don't know, I thought District 12 peeps all looked skinny, dirty and worn out!

Regardless, my DD12 and I are counting the days till it opens! The books were incredible, like I couldn't put it down. It's been a long time since I've felt that way about a series of books other than HP.:goodvibes

Not going for the midnight showing, but definitely sometime that weekend! I'm too old for midnight showings anymore unless they are on a Friday or Saturday night.

I am very excited for the movie. I read all three books around Christmas and loved them. The cast is not who I imagined but I think it will still be good.

I love the books so much and I was so worried about how they were going to do with turning the first one into a movie, but then I saw the previews and I can't wait to see it!!!! DH and I are hopefully going to go see it next weekend. Fingers crossed!

I will be at the midnight showing on opening night. The tickets were for my birthday from some friends.

I can't wait!! DD and I have a girls night out planned.

Both Gale and Peeta look pretty close to how I saw them when I read the books. Haymitch looks nothing like I picured him and Katniss is off to me, but that's OK. I'm flexible.;)

They did the pre-premier here in Paris about 4 hours ago with the 3 leading actors/actress and the director

The queues were huge, went past this afternoon and saw it all being set up

Might go and see it when it officially comes out on the 21st :)

Gale was noted to be very handsome by people other than Katniss in the books, so I can see the casting. I love the casting for both Peeta and Katniss! I can't wait - we have Friday night Imax tickets.

A friend of mine had to take a furlough day on the 23rd so I took a day of PTO and we are going to a midnight showing. I can't wait. I do like who they cast as Katniss. Someone I work with said she looked too old but with now rough life is in District 12 I would expect that would age you somewhat.

I actually thought that she looked exactly 15 or 16 when I saw the previews! She is only 21, so she can definitely play a range.

I pictured Haymitch as being more heavy-set, but otherwise, from what I've seen, I think Woody Harrelson has it spot-on and I'm REALLY looking forward to it. I think Lenny Kravitz is going to be wonderful as Cinna as well. Oh, and Elizabeth Banks is SO Effie!

I just hope that the film looks as good as I hope it is! I get much too attached to these stories and then I want to make sure all these actors / actresses do the story justice!!

I am really excited to see this movie too. DS#1 and I plan the midnight show and maybe I can get DH to go again over the weekend. I think he would like it too.

I imagined Chloe Grace Moretz as Katniss. She is nearly 16 and after seeing her in "Kick A s s" and "Let Me In" I know she could handle the part. That girl has made well over 20 movies already!

I will enjoy the journey no matter who plays the parts. Can't wait.

I guess I'm in the minority here, my wife talked me into reading this and at first it reminded me of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. Then just kind of turned into The Running man.

Can't wait for the movies either! Plus the trailer has restarted a one time crush on Wes Bentley (Seneca Crane).
