Humorous budget buster. Coffee!!

I have never been one for getting coffee out often. If I do, it will be once every other month or something from Wawa (pretty cheap) and sometimes I will get a latte from Starbucks when I'm really craving one (again literally less than once/month- usually when we're travelling out of town).

We have a Keurig and I use it daily. I probably spend on average 60 cents per cup since I'm not as good as I probably should be with scouting out sales. So that's about $220/year. DH drinks it on the weekends so like $60/year for him.

I don't go out to eat at work more than a few times a year, and usually when I do the company is picking up the bill. DH goes out at least 3 times a week. Sometimes his boss pays but most of the time it's on him. I don't really stress out about it because I know it's a stress relief for him and a good socialization with his few coworkers and his boss. He works on a floor with only one other person so I know he gets a little stir crazy during the day without lunch out. If we were trying to cut costs more we'd probably have a sit down about how much he's spending.

Theres a woman here that drinks at least 2, sometimes 4 Venti starbucks everyday. I can't even IMAGINE what she spends. Many others go out every single day to lunch. I'd rather sit at my desk, unwind with some DIS or facebook and save myself the gas and calories ;) (gas meaning gasoline... :lmao:)

I don't drink coffee, and I pack my own lunch. I'd rather have PB and J and a chocolate milk during my 20 minute lunch break than school food (my only other option!).

I have a Keurig and someone recently told me they figured out a pound of coffee for the keurig costs $60!!!! I didn't double check his figure but that sounds right.

I'm not at all surprised by this news. But I still won't give up my coffee or my Keurig.
For my Keurig, I bought an ekobrew and a solo fill cup. So, I can use my favorite ground coffee (Dunkin Donuts Decaf - in one pound bags). They are like the "my k-cup." Except you don't have to disassemble a part of your Keurig to use it. You just scoop your coffee into the little plastic solo fill cup, place the cup in your Keurig like its a Kcup and it works great. I still use the manufactured single kcups. But not nearly as often. So, I save money that way!

DD15 and I are the only ones who drink coffee at my house and we could not justify the price of the Kcups. I bought a twin pack of the Solofill cups and we use those exclusively. I used to think we were coffee snobs but we find that we enjoy Folgers and Maxwell House using the Solofill - Folgers was recently on sale for 2/$6 at CVS and our supermarket had the Peppermint Mocha coffeemate creamer clearanced to $1 each - after coupons I snagged 6 for 25 cents each. Its hard to beat that.

We do have a Keurig at work and free coffee and I have to say that I don't notice any difference in flavor vs. using the Solofill at home.
