I've heard it is low calorie, high fiber, high protein, so really good for you. So, I tried it with crackers and celery, and it was better than I thought it would be, but what else can you do with it, other than dip? I would like to eat it more but need more ideas on what to do with it! Thanks!

I use it as a spread on sandwiches. I find it's best on hearty, oaty-grainy breads with piles of veggies. Roasted red pepper hummus is my fave!

I love hummus wrapped in pita bread with pieces of onion...yummy! I also break pita bread apart, toast it, then slather hummus on it.

I've even gone so far as to put it on toast.

You could probably find a lot of recipe suggestions via google.

I add it to a wrap as a PP suggested. Something else I like to do is add cubed or ground meat to it along with pine nuts and eat it ind of like a stew.

I spread some on a whole grain wrap and then pile it up with lettuce, onions, and bell peppers and call it dinner. Also, if I can get some really crisp romaine lettuce, I'll use the lettuce as a chip to dip into the hummus, but it only works when the lettuce is fresh and crispy :)

Mmmm...that sounds so good and gave me an idea!

Get some Boston lettuce and slice up some tomato - wrap 1/2 slice of tomato with a dollop of hummus in a piece of the lettuce. That would be yummy for lunch!

everything i use it on has already been said, but roasted red pepper sabra is my favorite!

I make my own hummus. :thumbsup2 (See my tag. :goodvibes )

It is soooo cheap to make. One 99 cent can of chick peas, add in some of the chick pea juice, sesame oil (or Tahini paste,) olive oil, garlic powder, chili powder, ground cumin and cumin seeds, hot sauce, paprika, splash of lemon juice, and give it all a whir in a blender or small food processor, and DONE! :woohoo:

I also have hummus with everything the others have said above. You can use any veggies to dip: lightly steamed broccoli, cauliflower. Also, with toasted, whole grain pita wedges. The lettuce cups are great. :thumbsup2

:rolleyes:I love hummus, unfortunately it doesn't love me. Chickpeas make me sick to the stomach

I have to try this! that sounds so good.

I spread it on a low carb tortilla, and add a little feta, roasted peppers, and romaine lettuce, and eat it as a wrap.

Hummus is my favorite. :thumbsup2 I also make my own garlic version which is quick and easy and delicious. I have some for a snack at work with pretzels, cauliflower, mushrooms, and/or radishes.

They also have a great hummus sandwich at Columbia Harbor House at WDW. Whole grain bread with hummus, tomato, and broccoli slaw. I started making it at home after I tried it.

Yummy! I'm another one that makes my own. If you own a food processor it is super easy. I usually use this recipe http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Lemony-Hummus or one my mom gave me.
We like to have falafals (also fairly easy to make) in pita with some tatziki (again...easy) and hummus and some tabouli salad on the side. My kids love it (they think the falafals are meatballs!) and it's pretty dang healthy!

I want to know if it's actually low-calorie. Without a doubt it's healthy, but I love it WAAYY too much. One of those healthy foods that I could really overdo if I'm not careful.

I buy mine from the Mediterranean stand at our farmer's market. They know me there!

I dip celery in mine. Certainly don't need to add a ton of bread to my addiction!

We use it to grease the wheels of the tractor.:lmao:
