We are going to see the Rockettes at the Hummingbird on Dec 23rd and want to do dinner someplace close by first? Any suggestions?

We are thinking of Benihana's in the Royal York but can find little info on it especially on the menu prices! :confused3

Thought I'd ask!
Thanks :wave2:

Have you done Teppenyaki before? If so, it is basically the same thing at Benihana. And fairly pricy. There is another restaurant in the Royal York which is supposed to be quite good - can't remember the name right now - but anything in there will be pricy.

Not sure what price range you are looking at but we enjoy Tom Jones Steakhouse (if you want steak). It is fairly pricy though - likely about $100pp. Tom Jones is right next to the King Eddie - walking distance to the Hummingbird. We have also enjoyed Jamie Kennedy wine bar. Fun for something different - good tapas and excellent wine selection though again the wines can get pricy. BUt it is fun to try something by the glass that you likely would never buy a bottle of.

I have not done Teppanyaki but have been to Benihana in Honolulu years ago. It's more the cost I am wondering about...I don't mind $50-60 pp but over that I want WONDERFUL!

WIne bar sounds interesting...thanks for your help!!! :thumbsup2

We're going on the 23rd as well, but to the early show. We will be doing lunch at Shopsey's across the street! I agree that Benihana's would be better for dinner!

Le Marche is right around the corner too. And a more upper class restaurant called JUMP.

Le Marche is fun...

I agree with the suggestion for Richtree (formerly Le Marche) in BCE Place, which is across Hummingbird Theatre. There is a lot of variety so it's easy for everyone to find something they will like.

Up the street on the east side of Yonge is the Irish Embassy Pub (www.irishembassypub.com) which can be a lot of fun in the evening.

Behind the Hummingbird, on the Esplanade, is the Esplanade Bier Markt (www.thebiermarkt.com) which is very popular with the afterwork and weekend crowd. Very diverse beer menu, featuring some unique and less common beers from around the world.

Along is Church Street, south of Front, are a number of restaurants including: a French restaurant called Le Papillon (www.lepapillon.ca), and the Keg Steakhouse.

You can also wander eastward along Wellington, which is just north of Front Street, to check out some of the restaurants there.

There are lots of restaurants to choose from, depending on your preferred cuisine and budget.

I am really liking 'Le Papillon' That might just be it!!

Many thanks again!
