Last year, we put up a hummingbird feeder about the beginning of June (don't know why - I had NEVER seen a hummingbird in my yard before that), but 1 hummingbird found it and we enjoyed seeing him most of the rest of the summer :thumbsup2

So, how soon do hummingbirds come back? I don't want to put it up too early, because changing the food every couple of days can be a pain.

If it helps - I'm in the Milwaukee area!

I found a site that listed Hummingbirds arriving in the Wisconsin area back in 2001 as early as 4/19. That sounds about right as that's around the time we'd first see them in MA.

Aren't they amazing!! The area of central Florida I'm in isn't noted for having Hummers and I really miss them. We had several back at my house in MA. Here's a photo I took in 2004 of one sitting on our apple tree.

Thanks for the info!!!

Maybe I'll boil up some sugar water this weekend!!!

Just to let you know, if your neighbors have more feeders around, they may be going there. I only know this because my mom lives next door and all of her hummers never visit here, so I gave up.

Wow, I'm late, I'll buy a new feeder tomorrow!

I have mine out now, and yes, the hummingbirds are coming!!

How about everyone else, are they there yet? :)

We had a hummingbird flying around our greenhouse today...was he in hog heaven! It was miserable, cold and rainy outside, and here he is, flitting around at an all-you-can-eat buffet of petunias, calibrachoas, and scaevolas, with swarms of his admiring public milling around below. What a happy little man he appeared!

I always see 1 a year. I have the flowers, and the feeder, but always just see 1. So, this year, he came early. Last week we were talking at the kitchen window...and there he is....So I told DH that I can take the feeder down now...that was my 1 sighting :lmao:
