Hula's Ship O' Plunder

I heard last night from some friends that some people (yes, DIS ppl) were visiting in Hula's room for close to an hour. As someone who sat in line for 2 hours to never even see the door, I was really disappointed to hear this.

With this type of room I can't imagine Hula needed any helpers so it had ot be people who just decided that they were entitled to visit with Hula for a L-O-N-G time. I know this has been discussed here before so I just thought I would post as a friendly reminder. Please remember the 800+ people behind you during your visit.

I don't think there is a "set" time that is appropriate, but if someone has been there for an hour, I think we can all agree you are maybe maybe maybe staying a bit too long when others are waiting to say hi. We all would love to say hi to Hula, if we could just get in.

I also think it is up to the host to get those people moving along as well.
There are some people that won't leave till they feel the BOOT on their boot.i
I have a couple of people on my friends list that I see in host rooms for an hour or more at a time and it makes me upset because I want a turn also.
Hosts are sometimes TOO nice and don't want to force people to leave so they drop subtle hints as to where the exit is, but the people who stick around either just don't get it or blatently ignore the "hints". I think the hosts need to find a nice yet aggressive way to move these people along(even their favorite players).

It really is a shame we have to say this same thing over and over again. You would think that after the first few times, the people who lurk around the host rooms longer than necessary would finally get it. :confused3

It takes so long. @_@ It took me nearly an hour to get through 80 ppl. I logged 5 peeps get the TDM and I thought none of them would make it.

I do think it is very inconsiderate that the same ppl sit in the hosts rooms for the entire function, every function, causing the line not to move. Those same five or so ppl are in all the host rooms each time I go in, sitting chattng with hosts. And for all of my peeps, too. That should be saved for outside host events. ;)

For the record, I haven't seen Hula for a long time, so I was lucky enough to get into her room on the first try. Hula dc almost immediately after all of us got into the room, so we did not leave until Hula came back and we had a chance to visit with her.

This was also not a teleporter event, but one of those chatting and hanging out events. I don't think it's right for people to place mules in line when it will go a lot slower than teleporter events. I find that practice inconsiderate for these type of events.

I wasn't keeping tabs closely on which friends were in her room and for how long. But I did leave to make more room, and I'm sure many other DIS peeps did, too.

This discussion has taken place on another site and only led to flaming.

I really don't want to see it on the good site.

Sugar :)

I agree. I sure never meant my comment to sound that way, I promise. Just wanted ppl to be more cognizant of the time they spend with hosts since they were ppl that post here. I just did not want to name anybody, you know? ;)

Responsibility lies on the host as well. :)

No need to be attacking! ;) I have a right to my opinion and this is all host events with these same ppl, not only this one. It is also not right for ppl to sit in the room for an entire event, but they do it. This is the last I will post on this topic.

Five mules going straight for the teleporter without stopping for a chat take up less time than one character hanging out for five minutes, or even as little as two or three. What's inconsiderate about that? The number of people in front of you in the line isn't what matters, it's how long each of those people spends in the room that governs whether or not you get in.

seriously, this is just going to turn ugly.

one half of the population is going to say there is no reason to have mules in a meet and greet

the other half is going to say you should only stay for x amount of minutes at a meet and greet

There is never concensus, the topic has been beaten up every month, and nothing will change. Why do we need to go there... again.

For the record, some people think you should be considerate of the other people in line by keeping the time short AND keeping the mules out. Feel free to discuss ;)

ok, lets go with 1/3's then

1/3 of the populations thinks...

oh nvm :rotfl:

I think Meet and Greet events are very different from teleporter games. Hosts hold Meet and Greet events so that players can have a chance to come say hi to a VMK Staff person that they either have formed a relationship with or have never ever had a chance to meet. The event is about getting a few minutes to visit with the host, take a picture, and maybe see cool new stuff. It's a waiting game where every person in the queue counts, even those who just walk through the room to the prize port.

I am at 280 with 26 minutes to go. It'll be tight. It's not the TDM so much as it is seeing Hula. Like everyone else. . .:lmao:

I'm sad 111 people in queue and I don't think I'll make it in. Sorry Hula I tried! You've been missed!

Aww Dreams. I got in about 2 minutes before she closed and quickly said hi and that I missed her. then I ran out so I could let others in. She really apreciated all the people that just said hi and left so others could have a chance.

...a few people have been in there over an hour. Anyone want to do the math to see how many people won't get in as a result?

Every minute counts to try to get in before the door slams shut.

Each and every minute. to the person that waited 2 hours to end up at number 3 just to say hi to Hula, not even caring about TDM.
