I tried to book a dinner at the castle last night. This would have been at 8:40 pm or so. And they said it was $39 per person and they needed me to pre-pay??

When did this change? I knew that breakfast and lunch were character meals that required deposits but I thought dinner was just like a normal meal at the castle. I'm very dissapointed if they've changed it so all three are character meals now. :(

Changes went into effect early february?

All character BUT...

DInner is a photo op with Cindy while in the lobby then during your dinner periodically the Fairy Godmother and the Mice do a song and dance thing circulate a bit but little to no individual attention (none when we were there but others report some). This last maybe 10 minutes with a monologue from the fairy godmother. Only came one time during our meal and I would guess we were there about 45 min-an hour.

We thought the sliced prime rib at CP was better than the prime rib dinner at cindy's which tasted like the kind of single serving prepackaged stuff we bought once and never again. Kids didnt like their food (pretzel dogs).

We thought it was great for a special treat for our daughter but that was the only reason we liked it. Not enough choices.

I think it was in Feb, too.

We were disappointed in the change. Last trip we blew off dinner at the castle and said we'd do it next trip - DH has never dined there. We have no desire to dine there now and hope it goes back to "normal" soon.

Early February sounds about right.
We ate there last mid January for one last decent castle meal. sigh.... :guilty:

Hopefully they'll change at least one mealtime back.
That'll depend on whether or not they're still packing them in or not. Does anyone know how often you can get seated at the last minute at Cinderella's for dinner? (I'm pretty sure that breakfast and lunch are still booked solid every meal.)

so all 3 meals are character meals now, not just breakfast? Its been 8 years since we were at wdw. we ate at the castle for lunch, and noone was there (sniff). Are lunch and dinner as hard to get as breakfast now?
