Hugs & thoughts needed updated post #51

Oh Nikki my thoughts are with you and your family. :grouphug: My dog is a huge part of my life and I completely know how you feel. I hope all is ok.

 Bless him, he sounds like a right little trooper.

Hope he gets better soon, you know he's in the right place to get sorted:sick:

Sorry I haven't updated, I was over my sisters yesterday.

My mum called the vets yesterday, they think he has pancreatitis, which also causes the liver to be inflamed. They want to do a biopsy but he has to go to another veterinary practice to have this done but as they can only do one referal a day they can't fit him in until a week Friday:mad: but they won't release him either.

The vets were also meant to phone us back yesterday but forgot to:headache: It was only that my mum managed to get through in the evening. TBH I am not happy with the vet practice he is in at the moment, although it is part of the one we belong to it is not the centre we usually take him to.

He hasn't deteriated but he hasn't improved but I have been readin up on the condition & it does take a while to show improvement. However he is 14 this year & I think he may have more wrong with him, so I think we will be having to make some serious decisions soon as we can't see him suffer anymore:sad1: it will be hard as I have had for more then half my life:sad2:

Oh Nikki, sending you :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:

We had to make that awful decision for our first dog five years ago. Our vet helped us by saying we were to take days three at a time ~ once it got to the stage where our dog was having two bad days out of three it was time.

Hopefully, it will be a little while before you'll need to make that decision but rest assured that even though it'll be the hardest thing you'll ever do in your life you will be doing the right thing.

I have just had a call from the vet, she has said he is totally a different dog. He is lively & has perked up dramatically. She is pleased at the moment & he hasn't even needed a painkiller this morning which is good news, although they have given food he hasn't touched but he is very fussy about what he eats so she isn't too worried about that. If he stays like this they will release him today & monitor him from home. Which is great news, he isn't out of the woods completely but it is positive news & fingers crossed he can come home today.

I think if he can come home will help as he will be back in his own environment etc.

Thanks for all your kinds thoughts & messages:goodvibes
