I'm on Hughesnet right now, and we also have it over at the farm. Here we have a Cisco router, and we've got a Linksys over at the farm. We've got 2 desktops linked by cable (running through the crawlspace), 2 laptops linked wirelessly, and a printer hooked directly into the router here at the house, plus itouchs and phones on occasion. It works great, and the kids' friends are able to connect wirelessly easily when they bring their devices over.
Just about any router is going to do an adequate job, but I like Cisco and Linksys because I know they're reliable and easy to set up.
At the farm, there's usually only one computer hooked up at a time.
Just make sure you set a password on your wireless system. We're out in the boonies in both locations, so it would be pretty obvious if someone were parked trying to get into our network, but we still have them password protected.
Also, make sure you check
http://192.168.0.1/ (hughesnet system home) regularly to make sure you don't go over your usage allowance. With two teenagers in the house, we had some problems with them going over, but they started using the hughesnet download manager to download during the unlimited period.
