Huge PSA (Scrapmatters related)

I am sure many of you can guess where this is going!! Yes, my hard drive crashed last Friday. It was only 5 months old, just a baby. Guess what? I had nothing except my photos backed up! (Thank goodness!). I lost every single kit, alpha, element I have acquired over the last 5 months. All of my favorite Britt show-off prizes, DIS participation prizes, SM speed scrap prizes...gone! That's not even the worst of it. I had over 300 pages including my newly completed Disney Cruise album (102 pages)...gone! I have literally been ill over this. I knew better than to let my pages and kits keep piling up without a back-up. All I can tell myself is that life got in the way and I got busy scrapping new pages instead of backing up what I had! I have had my computer in the shop, and they are unable to even get to the hard drive b/c it is so corrupt. Hard to believe on such a new computer! The absolute only thing good to come out of this disaster is that Andi from Scrapmatters has offered to reload all my download keys for the kits and such I have purchased over the last few months so at least I am not starting from scratch. Please, please, please...learn from my horrible mistake and back up your photos, kits,pages, etc. This has been my worst nightmare regarding digi-scrapping. I can't decided what I am mourning more: my kits and show-off prizes I will be off of here for a bit while I try and regroup and re-acquire my stash. I am so sad I can't participate in challenges both here and at Scrapmatters. Sorry this so long-winded. I knew you all would understand much more than both the dell operator and the geek squad member I have been crying to up to this point. And, yes I did cry to both of them. They probably think I am crazy! Now, time for you all to backup all your wonderful pages!! Thanks so much for leatting me vent!

I am so sorry! I've had one computer problem a month for the past 4 months or so (maybe longer). I'm sorry you lost your layouts, but at least you were able to save your photos. That's the important thing! The pages can be redone and I have found that most stores are more than willing to help you out when you lose your items! (I know this first hand). Thanks for the reminder to back up. It's always a good one to get! ((HUGS))

Oh, this is every digi-scrappers worst nightmare! I'm so sorry and can understand how awful you must feel. I'm so glad that Andi has offered to activate your downloads. I have my files duplicated on 2 different external hard drives, but have almost convinced myself to use an online backup service, also, for all my photos, digi kits and layouts and all my genealogy files. Hoping you'll be up and running again soon.

OH MY GOSH!!! I'm sooooo incredibly sorry! That really just SUCKS. Do you have your past emails with the download links for the Show Off prizes? You can re download all of them. All the links are still active!!

If you don't have those past emails - send me an email and we'll work on getting you some of it back.

Wow - I would seriously just die. I always tell everyone I know - BACK UP all the time. Josh (my husband) is an Apple technician and so he works with people who loose all their photos and memories and its just so heart breaking.

I knew you guys would know how to make a gal feel better and would be the only ones to truly understand!! Thank you so much for all the hugs! After I types my post, the dell tech actually called me to see how I was. I am sure he thinks I am a giant goof! Britt, you are so incredibly generous! I know I tell you this every week I get the show-off. I wish I knew you in real life. I am ceratin you'd be a great friend! I do have a few of the emails saved, so I will see what I have. Thank you so much for your offer. you have made my day. Now if I could just send you all my photos, and you could scrap them all, I'd be in heaven! I will shoot you an email! thanks again to all of you for the hugs! I sure did need them! I think my fellow nurse friends at work are tired of hearing me sulk I hope to be back up and running as soon as I get my new hard drive and PS installed.

Big hugs to you. I know how horrible the feeling is to lose so much hard work. But you do have the photos, so that's a start.

Do you have your layouts loaded in an online gallery somewhere? They may not be print worthy quality, but at least you'll have some of your scrapped memories to look at.

This is definitely another wake up call to backup digital-anything.
