We were watching the Travel Channel special about the unique McDonalds around the world and one of them was a HUGE McDonalds in Orlando by Sanford Airport. Can anyone tell us the exact location of this one? It has a really big "fries" on the front of the building and is 2 stories tall. Has an arcade and other fun stuff. We thought we would check it out during a park break when we go in May. TIA :goodvibes

Sanford Airport is about 45 minutes from WDW. I didn't see a huge McDonalds when I was there. I guess I wasn't really looking though. :)

Sanford is a little ways away from WDW (considering traffic on a weekday-could be well over an hour one way) That said I live in North Orlando (just south of Sanford), I think I have only heard this place mentioned once. I don't think I would make that drive for a "break" (I-4 can be a parking lot-not fun with little kids). There are sooooo many places closer to WDW to take a break. There is even a Mcdonalds near the Allstars that looks like a Happymeal box. There is also another LARGE Mcdonalds (2nd or 3rd largest in the US?) near I-drive(You can see it from I-4) and all of the resorts have arcades.
This is the one off I-4 MUCH closer to WDW (this may have been the one you saw on Travel Channel?)

The one noted on the Travel Chanel many times is the one at Sand Lake Road and I-Drive (world's largest play place). Haven't heard many good things said about the cleanliness or food though on these boards.

What they said. I was thinking about taking my 2 kiddos until I read a thread about it back in February.

The posters pretty much say that the place is a pit as far as food and cleanliness go. Needless to say, we are going to pass on it, too bad since I bet the kids would have loved the play area. :sad2:

Thanks for clarifying the location for us. When we were watching the show one of the pictures during the segment was of Sanford.

We will probably still check it out since the kids saw it and really want to go. We have a rental car and are staying off property so we can at least drive by and see it. Probably on our way to a good restaurant for dinner. ;)

There are several themed McDonalds in the Orlando area that I think are all owned by the same guy, there's the one on Sand Lake rd and International drive that's on the Travel channel specials,in my opinion it's not as bad as what you hear on the boards,I mean it's for kids, there's games and attractions, they serve pizza, for me the biggest negative is the prices are a bit high.If you drive 2 minutes from that McDonalds there's also a Bistro McDonalds on Sand lake rd on the other side of I-4 that's more for adults with items like paninis. Here's a link of the 19 restaurants this guy owns and if you click on the number beside the restaurant location it gives you an idea of the store's theme.

Thanks for the website! that is so helpful. I am already on it checking out the different themes. Fun! I don't even like the food all that much anyway so the "adult" options sound intriguing.

Been ther in 2000 with our three children. Then again in 2004 or 2005. Not as nice as what i thought it would be .Kids did like it. Upkeep and cleaniess was a issue for me. We were there in july ( busy time) which may be why it was not so clean. They do have a two story , upstair arcade room. Beautiful fish tank in downstairs dining area. It is located on sand lake road and corner of international drive.just a short way from 1 - 4. I would not recommend it if this is the only reson to go to i drive. Very busy street. We usually stop as we are headed to the disney character premier and character outlet at the belz mall on north end of I drive so worth the stop for the kids. It is a bit more expensive that mcdonalds here in the great lake state mi.

It is not in Sanford. It is near the Orlando executive airport.
I live in Sanford and trust me no big MCdonalds here.
The one I think you are talking about is on I drive and Sandlake. You can see it from I4. It is 2 stories. The upper is an arcade. Be warned its always crazy crowded.

I'm afraid they sound much better than they taste.

I have a feeling you are right. I checked out the Bistro menu and it didn't look all that great.

We do like to cruise I-drive and go to the outlet mall so it may just be a looksee just to show the kids.
