I just googled the 2009 DDP and came up with a site called Sorcerer.com and on their forums it has stated that from the official disney site for the uk the basic dining plan is going to be $50 per adult.:scared1: That is terrible. Maybe this will include the app, and the tip. Who knows?

That would pretty well fall in line with bicker's prediction. When all of the chaos of the 2008 DDP was running rampant on the boards many people posted that they'd be willing to pay more in order to have the appetizer and tip included in the plan again. He cautioned that may be possible but at a very large price increase, to the tune of about $50.

Now either your source is quoting our source as fact, or bicker's prediction may be coming true.

I wouldn't bank on a lesser known site breaking this news before the Dis but it is possible. I would guess that official word will be released from Disney in the next 6-8 weeks or so.

I hope not!:worried: We were going to try it for the first time in Jan. I Know we don't spend nearly that much on a regular basis when at disney! We usually eat CS and only a few TS when there, but thought it would be a good way to try alot of TS we have never done, but I couldn't justify spending that much!

I will never pay for the ddp, only when its free will we use it. But I am just wondering if they really are going to include the app, and tip or maybe just one or possibly neither.

I found the post you are referring to on the other site. Interesting. I looked on the Disney UK site and couldn't find anything about the dining plan. I don't think I'm looking in the right area or something.

I guess we will see what happens.

Ya, just waiting to see is all everyone can do. Even though I will never pay for it, it is interesting to see just what will happen.

Hehe... seriously, I believe this rumor as much as I believe the rumor I read earlier today, here, about them adding all these things to the Dining Plan immediately, without increasing the price. Well, not really "as much" :), but what I mean is that until it comes from Disney I wouldn't believe anything.

Yes, we'll actually know soon.

I smiled when I read this because you've cautioned SO many times that to get what they want it'll cost us much more than $5.

$50 including tip and appetizer would be a great deal really. Average entree - $25. Average Appetizer - $7. Average dessert - $7. Average Soda - $2. That's $41 - Tip is $7.38 - you're at $48 just on a TS dinner.

Who will lose out on a new plan like this are Buffet diners.

I hope it includes the appetizer & tip... then I'd gladly pay the $50/day. That is what we would spend anyway and it is so convenient.:goodvibes

Thats true, thats probably a good estimate of what it might cost. But I just wonder how will Disney market this. I guess they will have to raise their prices in the resturants a good bit to make this a 30 to 40 percent savings.

Shhhhh....Don't want Disney seeing that we are willing to pay $50 if it includes the appetizer and tip ;)

But I quess we would too ::yes::

Although, character dining/buffets are big for us....So I would have to see where we want to eat and estimate our costs OOP before committing to such a large amount of $$$ :scared1:

For now, we strongly believe the 2008 plan is still a value for us...We have done the math and it works in OUR FAVOR :goodvibes

While doing my own search for 2009 DDP, I came across this little item on a UK site. To my knowledge, this is a NEW thing. There are listings for the DDP and the DxDDP as well. The DDP price is the same, but the deluxe went up from 41 to 43 pounds. I wonder if this will translate to those of us in the US.

New Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
This is available to book for any booking departing from 11 January 2009 onwards.

The new Quick Service Dining Plan is in addition to the current Dining Plan and Deluxe Dining Plan.

Please Note:

These prices include 2 Quick Service meals and 2 snacks per person per day.

1 Refillable Resort Cup per person (can only be used in hotel where guests are staying, NOT in any Theme Parks).

I would doubt that Disney would ever bring back the appetizer. Many folks never order an appetizer (as was our case) but did because it was included. As far as desert goes I am sure they may be making some money on this as many times people are too full and don't get the desert. I know you can take it with you but I have read from many here that 1. It's been too warm to take it with them or 2. they didn't want to carry it all day/evening etc.. In my opinion they were smart to delete the appetizer vs desert. As far as the increase goes I think 50.00 a day is alot and would probably opt not to do the plan myself if it increased. The food at Disney is way over priced to begin with and yes for convience it is great but you could plan to go off site and get some great meals for much less money for sure and then not be expected to leave a mega tip on top of it because the prices are inflated. I had read soemone planned to bring 800.00 for tips. My thought was wow that is our usual plane fare cost for 4 if not more. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I am betting that if the $50 estimate, if true, is the current basic plan, sales will drop off precipitously.

Now that Quick Service plan...that seems to me like something WDW would actually do.

If this is real, it does sound nice! Something like this, or including the tip back into the basic dining plan, would be fabulous! I love the convenience of the dining plan, I like to have everything possible paid in advance. A "value" alternative would be great!

I would guess that if Disney did increase the cost of the DDP to $50, it might possibly include the tip but would probably not include the appetizer.

One thought about the "Quick Service Plan" that immediately ran through my head is that Disney might start making this plan the plan that you get for free during "Free Dining". In that scenerio, they would allow you to pay to upgrade to the Basic Dining Plan or Deluxe models during free dining.

I hadn't thought of that, but you have a good point on the free DDP.

I too believe this could be the last year of the free dining with a TS included at no extra charge. Next year, pay to upgrade to TS, unless maybe you get to book a bounceback this year. Who knows?

I wouldn't worry yet. British travel agents do not like selling us the dp. This is because they would then have to buy park tickets through Disney, rather than a ticket agency, and hence they make less profit. For this reason they often price the dp with a premium. Last year we booked the DP through our travel agent and pid the same price in pounds as dollars! (So we ended up paying twice as much- and we still thought it was good value compared to British food prices) This year we have DVC membership. So if the source is qouting a British site, then probably the price will be loaded for the British market;)

The devil is in the details, of course, and whether this is a good deal or not would depend on the price.

But if it's priced reasonably, say $20 per day, this would be a great plan for many families. With reasonable pricing, it's an even better plan than the Basic DDP for those families who don't want to do a sit-down meal each day. It would also be good for folks without kids who wouldn't be doing character meals.

We probably wouldn't buy it at any price because we like to eat one nice meal each day. Plus, now that we've tried offsite, we have a strong preference for eating offsite vs. the standard Disney food. But it will be interesting to see the specifics.
