Thank you everyone.Nikki was my beloved Doberman/Shephard cross. She was the runt of the litter and was dropped off at the SPCA because no one wanted her.It is just so amazing how pets affect our lives. She brought us so much joy during her short 10 year life(darn Cancer)

Thanks again.

Our dog is getting "up there" and I'm just dreading the day...I can only imagine how you are all feeling.

I'm sorry about your loss:hug:

I just had to share this one: I went in the boys room this morning to pick out there clothes and the boys said our cat Winnie had something in her mouth. Well, she had a mouse!!! YUCK! I'm so thankful for my Winnie. I'm hoping it's gone when I get home from work! She'll get special treats from me when I get home. And I know where there is one mouse there are many!

Very sorry for your loss!

I find a lot of people just don't know how dear a pet can be. I guess you are either a dog or cat person, or you are not! Personally I find dogs are nicer than most people!

So sory to hear about your loss...we lost our Doberman "Theo" on March 10th of this year...it was the day we arrived home from WDW. I feel like he waited for us so that he could say his goodbyes. He also died of cancer which he hid from us so well that we didn't even know he was ill. We still miss him greatly. It's strange but before I scrolled down and saw your post I was just giving my old boy (13 year old standard poodle) a huge hug and cuddle while I was at the computer reading. We've also got a 13 year old Chihuahua...they're all getting up there...it's stressful. We've had our furbabies longer then our dd (she's 11 now). I really feel your pain and am sure that I will be experiencing it again all to soon.

Take care and rember Nikki often..it helps.

Hi Kelly,
My heart goes out to you for your recent loss.
My family also lost our beloved westies "Bonnie" on March 5,2004.
It was the worst day we had experienced in many years. The awful thing was that Bonnie showed no sign of problems, she just suddenly stopped eating, when we took her to the vet they did x-rays and discovered many tumours in her tummy area (dammed Cancer). The house was very empty for a few weeks and I had vowed never to get another dog as the loss is so hard to take. My kids pleaded with me and I broke down. We now have an 8month old puppy (another westie) called MacKenzie, who is adorable and rules us!! She has many characteristics that Bonnie had and now when we think of Bonnie it is always a good or funny memory. MacKenzie has helped immensly. I understand completely how you are feeling and am sending Huge HUGS. Get your photo's out of Nikki and remember the good times, believe me it helps. Take Care

iluvwesties, that is exactly what Nikki had.Just suddenly stopped eating and while the vet was doing the exam felt the tumor in her tummy. No signs that she was sick.I have also vowed not to get another dog.We still have our 13 year old Sheltie who is being so spoiled right now(and I believe loving every minute of it)but I know that it wont be long before my husband is taking me to the SPCA to fill out the adoption papers on another "friend who just wants to be loved"

Thanks to every one for their hugs.Nikki lives on in my heart.

mbb, thank you so much for posting that poem.I have read it before and only now does it take on great meaning.I am going to print it out and put it on the fridge with Nikki's picture and when I get to scrapbooking all of the pictures of my dogs,it will be put there.
Thank you

it made me feel better when a friend sent it to me...

...take care..

This may seem like a silly thing to say, but I think I would need a week off of work and school if my precious cat passed away. She honestly saved my life! She is 7 and is my only child, and I love her like she is a real little girl.

I am sorry for your loss - here's a big :grouphug:
