Yesterday hubby found out he got promoted! They reorganised the entire department at his job so instead of 10+ different groups, each having there own boss there is one boss, 5 engineers and the rest stay system admins. Out of the 40+ guys, hubby got one of the engineer jobs AND got his senior position..So starting Jan 1st, no more being on call and he doesnt have to do "bit work" ( fixing trouble tickets, rebooting servers, adding users to their network and dealing with stupid questions) He will be only working on projects and supervising the system admins! No idea if there is a pay raise but itll be worth it if he isnt on call all the time.. We get at least 2-3 calls a night( usually between 11-3)when he is on-call and usually 3-4 a week (same time) when he is not on call because they dont look at the oncall list and just call hubby because he is the only one who knows what he is doing from his group..( or the other guys not answer there page or phone)
This is a big thing for hubby because he should have gotten his senior position last year but gave it to someone else who really didnt deserve it( this guy doesnt answer his pages and is constantly out of work)..Hubby worked his butt off, making up the work that his coworker didnt do and didnt even get any acknowlegement or a thank you and was ready to quit... and what makes it better is that the guy that got the raise and senior position last year didnt get engineer and was complaining to hubby how he was ready to quit yesterday!

I've done it for so long I guess I've just gotten use to it. It does bother DW when I have to leave a dinner, party,etc.
