Casually mentioned last night that I wanted to go to WDW for oldest daughter's 16th birthday and our 19th wedding anniversary, fully expecting to get the typical "so what bank are we going to rob to pay for that." Man was I surprised when he said "Cool, that sounds like a great idea."

Yippee! We are going to WDW in either August or September of 2009. I know it's a long way away, but at least we don't have to wait 10 years like the time between our last trips.

One question I have is will Disney let you celebrate special events (with the buttons and such) after the fact or do you actually have to be there on the official date?

We plan on celebrating both of our girls b-days a month before they actually take place. We also did this last year and we got buttons and all, the wonderful thing is Disney doesn't require proof of birthday or anniversary; it cost Disney nothing to wish them "Happy" anything. We going in May and both of our girls have June b-days and we're taking full advantage of the fact of taking them so close to their b-days for two reasons:

1)our 91/2 will still be considered a child and we'll have to pay a childs price for her ticket before she turns 10.
2)our 21/2 will still be free because she doesn't actually turn three until June 3rd.

So, it's like an early birthday present for both of them.
