When my mom broke her ankle, she wasn't able to get onto Huanted Mansion, because it was moving. What they did is they stopped all the doom buggies (its happened to my mom and I on the Haunted Mansion, in the dark. Really creepy.:( ) so she could get on and off. But when we did Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, they just slowed it down for us to get on and off. Why did they not stop it Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, or slow down the Huanted Mansion. it doesn't make sence. Does anybody know.

I think is is the sequence of the ride. some can stop like HM but they can only stop at a specific time. You got lucky that you didn't have to wait. Some can't do that so all they can give you is slow movement. example is spaceship earth they slow down the belt but they cannot stop the ride.

The only ride that can't be completely stopped for boarding is Peter Pan. All of the other rides with moving walkways can have the belt stopped if necessary. Buzz Lightyear is stopped completely to load wheelcahirs onto the wheelchair car and we have seen it stopped for people to walk on too. We have also have Spaceship Earth stopped entirely when we get on with our DD.
The moving walkways can only be stopped if you board at the exit and they try to limit complete stops as much as possible. Whether they stop it or slow it depends on what the CM thinks your needs are. If it looks like you can manage with just slowing it, that is what they do.
Here's a link to a thread that gives a little more insight into boarding the moving walkway rides.

At the Haunted Mansion in DL they took the disAbled to an area past the moving belt to stop the cars so you could ride.

At WDW, people with mobility disabilities board at the exit (which means they miss the stretching room). You do board in the moving walkway area, but the moving walkway can be slowed to a crawl or stopped if necessary. Also since it is moving to take people out of the ride and you are walking on to the ride, it gives a longer lenth of time to board even if they don't stop it.

My mom was in a wheelchair so we did miss the streching gallery

When I shattered my leg last year and was at the MK a week after I did it they stopped both Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear for me. I was able to bring my wheelchair up to the ride vehicle and transfer directly from one to the other. No problem at all. You just have to let them know what you need.

Spaceship Earth can be stopped.

We went on Haunted Mansion last month, & we went in a side door on the left when you walk toward the exit. However, we did not miss the stretching room. Well, the room was not stretching, so it was a bit strange.

I can't easily transfer out of my wheelchair and Hunted Mansion is one of the rides I have to miss.

Last trip though, I asked to do the pre-show. I went into the stretching room but stayed behind when everyone moved on to the ride itself. I even got to see the stretch 'unstretch' ready for the next group of riders, before leaving by the side door.

That's cool that they let you see the stretching room.:D

The reason for the difference between the DL and WDW Mansions is the way the exit is situated at DL, with a speedramp. Yes, all the Omnimover attractions can be stopped. Peter Pan is the only ride that can not stop except in emergencies. The reason the omnimovers can only stop at certain points (mansion is only supposed to stop once per cycle) is that the Omnimover system was designed to move continuously. Stopping multiple times per cycle is roughly the same as turning off your car every time you come to a stop sign or red light and then re-starting it with the keys when you are ready to move on. Eventually, it will damage the machine.

When we rode the HM last month, they stopped the ride so we could get on. They stopped it at doombuggy #2, although I did have to remind the CM to stop the ride when we go off (she did it with a remote in her hand). We also rode Spaceship Earth, which was stopped.

No. The only ride they stopped was the Huanted Mansion. It also did it when we where in the dark. We didn't request anything. We told them that my mom had a broken ankle, and she had cruches. They just did it.

I never assume a castmember will know what type of assistance I will need. I tell them exactly what I need. Nicely but I am specific. When I occasionally get resistance I remind them that I am the one who knows what I am capable of and know the problems I have had in the past. If they give me further problems I ask for a supervisor. I do not risk my safety on others decisions.

If you didn't request anything, it's up to the CM's judgement what they think will be helpful to you. In your case, the CM at HM thought the ride should be stopped. The CM at BL didn't.
Next time, follow Lisa's advice and speak up. If you had realized that you needed to ask to get the walkway stopped, they would have stopped it on any rides if requested (except Peter Pan), although you may have had a longer wait since the ride mechanism can only be stopped once per cycle.
