I laughed several times by some of the corny things in the movie. Troy's song "Bet on It" and dancing around really cracked me up:rotfl: The capri pants!

On the other hand, my 5 yo dd is still on :cloud9: . She is still singing "na na na you've got the music in me." She said it was the best! He Zak and Gabriella barbies are still kissing:rolleyes1 .

What did your children think? I am really curious about the number of homes that watched last night.

My youngest liked the first one better, but it seems he always says that about sequels. They seems close to me.

Funny you should ask...I TiVoed it and DD5 and DS18months are watching it for the first time right now!! DS is sitting in front of the tv mesmerized, and DD is dancing. The opening song hasn't even finished yet! Let you know how long it holds their attention!

We watched it last night....had a little HSM2 premiere party with HSM tattoos, popcorn, drinks, etc. My DD4 LOVES the first one and has almost all the songs memorized. She was so excited to see the new one. I have to admit, it didn't hold her attention like the first one did. But while all the adults were laughing at the corny dance moves in some of the dances, my DD4 would shout at us "Don't laugh at Troy!" She loves him! I didn't like it as much as the first one, but after watching it a second time (this morning), it's not so bad...some of the songs are very catchy!:rolleyes1

WHY CAPRIS!!!???!!!???
Oh my gosh, those were awful!!!

My nine year old daughter was completely enthralled from beginning to end. Although she was FURIOUS at Troy for the way he was treating his friends. Thankfully by the end he came back around (sorry to spoil it for those of you who haven't finished watching it yet :rotfl2: ) She was clapping and cheering at the end, and dancing around through the whole thing.

My boys (yes boys like it too) both loved it. They said the music and dancing were better than the first one.

our whole house laughed when Troy sang his "angry" dance. my DD4 said how is he moving around so fast. i said what? she replies, "he was on the grass then on the rocks, then the sand, and now the grass. how does he go so far so fast. it is weird." i just laughed and told her he was running really fast as he danced. she also wondered why he was dancing if he was sad because dancing is a thing you do when you are happy and you pout when you are sad.
the pink things were amazing to the girls. they both want a pink car, even the 2 yr old said i want to drive that. :rotfl2:

DD7 was more interested in the HSM party we had rather than the movie. DS2 just watched it this evening and he loved it, it really kept his attention.

I liked it as much as the first one and I'm glad they kept all of the secondary characters in this one too.

My DD's and DS have watched three times already and my DD(5) cries at the same spot each time. When Gab sings to Troy on the bridge... She sobs!

My DD7 liked it but said it was not as good as the first one. Was it just me or did Troy look overly tanned???? Anyway, mousesavers listed a site to getr a free first day of school wake up call from Sharpay or Chad. Looked cute signed my DD up for it

My kids both enjoyed the premiere a bunch. We also did a little party with tattoos, HSM partyware, hoagies and cupcakes. DD7 loved it all and DS 3 was the first one up every commercial dancing around trying to copy the dancers!!! :) DD7 commented several times about Sharpay's pretty clothes. She loved Sharpay's clothes in the first one too. Although she likes Gabriella better DD likes Sharpay's wardrobe a whole lot better!!!!

My dd(10) LOVED it! She said equal to the first in her opinon(she is so diplomatic)

Oh and she is definately a Gabriella girl! She think Sharpay is just a mean girl. works for me.

DDs ( 8 & 5) loved it!!! The have already watched it 4 times.

DS12 said he liked the first one better. DS13 watched with everyone out of total curiousity but would not comment either way.

DS10 watched it. He really liked it. He liked how Ryan (Sharpay's brother) came around to be friends with the Wild Cats. I found him watching it last night while waiting up for DH to come home.

Great family movie.

does anyone know if the director is the same guy that did Footloose many years ago? that dance with troy seemed alot like the dance the main character did in that movie back then,,,,,,,

I know Kenny Ortega did Dirty Dancing - I thought the scene af the talent show at the end where the staff comes through the crowd dancing looked awfully familiar;)

I thought the exact same thing -- I didn't know Kenny Ortega did Dirty Dancing but that was my first thought when I saw the group coming through...Hmmm....I've seen this scene before. ;)

Thanks for mentioning the phone call on this thread too. I just signed up for DD to get 2 of them -- one on Wednesday & one on Thursday. Hee Hee.

Too bad they didn't have Troy though.

We had a premiere party with my daughters and their friends. 14 girls ranging in age from 4-10 (most were 8). You could have heard a pin drop in our house except for the commercials and saying "I love Sharpay's outfit!" every time Sharpay was in a scene. They also were mad at Troy for being mean to his friends and at Sharpay for being mean to Ryan. I have to say, I loved it too, cheesiness and all! Except Troy's dance number in the desert. What was that????

We loved it too. My kids are ds9 and dd6. I have downloaded the soundtrack and the kids are listening to it all the time. I am really enjoying the music too. I have to say, Troy's solo was one of my favorite parts. I love that song and the dance made it more intense. I also liked the "I don't dance" song on the baseball field. I liked that they incorporated all the different styles of dance. My kids have watched the movie twice already. I have to say, I liked #2 better. It showcased the others a little better. Oh, yes I did find some of it pretty corny, but I am a cornball on the inside. :-)
