I used to date a guy like that in High School. It's not that he was "that romantic" but that he was a big ham. It's a lot of fun to date someone like that as long as you remember it's all about him and not you LOL

Truthfully, I think it's a bit over the top.
If I was the mother of that HS girl, I'd be leery of this kid.

I don't think I would want my daughter to date anyone that intense for that young JMO

Seriously? Wow. I think it's sweet, and I would have melted right along with my DD if she would have been asked to prom that way. I thought it was very nice, tastefully done, and just....sweet!!
