HS/Epcot Strategy- Does this make sense?

I'm thinking of planning a 1/2 day at HS, walking over to Epcot to walk around the world showcase and then eat dinner (location undecided) and then walking back to HS to check out the Osbourne Lights. The dining options in HS just do not appeal to us. I am doing this all with a 4 and 7 yo in tow (but probably will rent a double stroller). Is this manageable or am I spending too much time walking back and forth. I read that its about a 20 minute stroll between the 2 parks. We are first timers so I don't know the distances between the parks all that well. TIA!

It is perfectly doable, and with children that age, makes perfect sense. DHS isn't really a full day park if you have children who are too small for, or have no interest in the thrill rides (Tower of Terror and Rock-N-Roller Coaster). So spending some time walking around Epcot is a good idea. As far as the travel is concerned, it is about a 20 minute walk. But there is also boat launch transportation that connects the two parks. It is slightly faster to walk, though with young children, that can be debated as they will likely find distractions along the way. The boat will be relaxing for you.

The boat between the two parks is great. If your stroller rental is an off site company, I think the walk would be fine. If you're planning to rent at the park, I don't think you will be able to take Disney's stroller.

It's not so much the 20 minute walk between Hollywood Studios at the entrance to the Boardwalk area, but then you have to walk from there to the International Gateway, a good 15 minutes unless you're a sprinter, the walk around World Showcase, then the good 45 minute walk back, at a normal pace. As long as you're in good enough shape to do that, it sounds enjoyable. If it were me though, I'd be taking the boat from HS to the International Gateway dock, at least one way, maybe on the way back. I wouldn't want to be exhausted while watching The Osborne Lights. The kids have it made in the shade no matter which way you choose to go though!

Is there a way to cut through the boardwalk around the tennis courts or do you pretty much have to stay on the path? It looks like that would cut out a pretty big chunk of time if you could do that. Otherwise, mapmyrun.com says from the entrance to DHS to Futureworld in EPCOT is 1.62 miles. So, you're looking at at least 30-40 minutes to get to an attraction in Futureworld.

Just got back and we took the boat from from Epcot to HS.....worked out
great. I really didn't see that much from the boat the I would have wanted to
do or look at had I been walking. It was about a 20 minute boat ride.
4 stops I think but really quick stops at the different resort areas along the way.

Sometimes it takes a while to wait for a boat to show up. Ive seen a line that had to wait for 3 boats before we got on our way. I should have walked it and i did on the way back.
