Planning on hitting HS at rope drop, having lunch at H&V (for my kids who love Disney Jr) and spending evening at AK. AK closes at 9:30pm that night. Is this a good idea? I'm familiar with HS but not really AK. What are some must dos with small kids? Want to make sure I make the most of the park.

Definitely FP one of the Pandora rides if you can, the boat ride would be more kid friendly in general and has no height requirement.

Safari, Lion King show, animal walking trails, and maybe even the Finding Nemo show would all be good for small kids. A Bugs Life is a good show but it has some effects that usually scare little ones, so you might want to watch a YouTube video of that prior

Thanks!

So how would FP work?

I pick let's say 1 FP at HS and 2 at AK? Or vice versa?

You can only select up to 3 fast passes in advance for 1 park. So you can't preselected 1 for HS and 2 for AK.

If you're rope dropping HS then I would save my fast passes for AK. Especially if you want to do Pandora.

How many days are you at WDW? IMO, both parks are full day parks and it would be a major challenge to do either of them justice with just 1/2 day each.

Absolutely!

We have park-hoppers so we'll flip-flop the parks. EMH at DHS until lunch (no FP) then AK in the evening with FP for a Pandora ride, plus 2 other AK attractions. The next day is EMH at AK until lunch, with FP for the other Pandora ride plus 2 others, and evening at DHS for F! (possible 4th FP) or SW.
Splitting them that way gives us a chance to FP both Pandora rides, since they are tiered, with afternoon breaks from the summer heat.

With small kids at Animal Kingdom, do Rafiki's Planet Watch and Flights of Wonder. No FastPass needed for either.

This sounds like a great plan and good way to maximize the rides you want! We always rope drop/EMH a park, take a mid day break at hotel for pool/nap, etc. and return to a different park with our FP booked there starting around 4. Enjoy!
