I have a deluxe room booked at HRH but am considering switching to deluxe at Portofino. Are the rooms a comperable size? I booked HRH because of the pull-out sofa - will a roll-away take up too much space at Portofino?

I'm also wondering if spring break at HRH will be over-run with kids. Any thoughts on whether Portofino would be quieter?

PBH is much quieter and you'll think your the only guest there until you meet others waiting for the boats. The rooms are larger than any of the others on property. You would be upgrading imho. The pools are great and the beach pool is so nice and the water slide is awesome!

Partyofsix, just to confirm, the PFB deluxe room is larger than HRH deluxe?

NWo-thunder - I need a larger room. There are 4 of us and a standard room would be too cramped. Not keen on 2 rooms, as they can't guarantee connecting room, and I don't want the chance of the kids being off in some other end of the hotel where I can't keep my eye on them!

Yes, they are the largest rooms on property room to room. You would have plenty of room in a del for a rollaway. I would do a king, pullout and one rollaway if it were me. The queens don't offer a pullout opt. so you would need two rollaways. Don't forget to ask for an upgrade they give them out freely at PBH as they usually don't get to capacity like the other on site properties do. If you are upgraded to a Portifino Suite you'll gain a sleeper sofa, another table and two chairs, a 2nd t.v., cd,vcp and fax machine. You'll have another full bath and not to mention the Parlor in the Portifino Suite is 283 sq ft. of living space so plenty of room if you needed the rollaway. What they do is sell you the parlor and you can add up to bed rooms one on each side. The bedrooms are private and have a separate entry and so does the parlor area. You can have a harbor or beach pool view. The size of the add on bedrooms are the size of a del. pool room which are about 470 sq.ft. I think the reg room run about 435 or so. Nice and large if your a loewes first memeber you can get the upgrade if avail. for $35.00!

del. pool room which are about 470 sq.ft

At HRH, the deluxe rooms are 500 sq. ft., so I'd guess PBH is even larger. I'm surprised PBH doesn't offer a 2-queen/sofa pullout room, which is what the deluxe rooms at HRH have.

EJane - what ages are your kids? If teens, they would probably prefer HRH. Also, consider:

HRH is closest to the parks.
PBH has 2 pools
PBH has bigger bathrooms (from what I've read)
PBH is quieter
Rates available for the rooms

cookie: I can't remember the sq. ft of standard and del rooms at PBH but I know they are larger than HRH and the largest rooms of any on-site hotel. With 2 yo triplets and 10yo i'm doing pretty good to remember anything these days.LOL

I didn't mean to contradict you, I just remember the sq. footage for our HRH room, and thought PBH rooms would be bigger. I'm impressed with the amount of detail you remember (and have researched!) for PBH.:D

Trust me my memory is as bad as I tell you.LOL I actually have a file with folders and info on the rooms, that's how I can tell you what sq.ft the suites I have one brochure at home and faxed copies at work. Now is'nt that sad.LOL My husband just laughes at me all the time about this subject. When he is recommending and bragging about our vacations to others and the great deals and perks we get don't think he does'nt send them in my office and expect me to pull all that off the top of my head. I just have an eye for details since my girls require certain things at this stage. I truely took there room apart and moved furniture. So we'll just leave the answer to yeah PBH is larger but how much hmmm? ;)

Portofino has the largest standard rooms. Standard at Hard Rock is 375 sq ft and Portofino is 462.

Although Hard Rock and Portofino's deluxe rooms are certainly comparable, Portofino's are smaller by 10 sq ft.

Portofino also has 3 pools. Beach pool, Villa Pool and Hillside pool.

Are the prices comparable for both deluxes? Portofino will absolutely be quieter during spring break or any other time. The deluxe room at Portofino has a seperate shower and tub. I like the deluxe better at Portofino (layout) . That may be cause I just LOVE those bathrooms and beds!!

Have fun planning:)
