Here is some background info:

We have done three trips to Universal. Twice we stayed at HRH. Once in a deluxe room and once club level where we were lucky enough to get a deluxe room. The other trip we stayed at RPH.

Universal has always been a "side trip" to our Disney vacation. Next year we are thinking of making Universal the "vacation destination" and so US/IOA, SW, DC and both water parks.

Now we really like RPH but I think that room is just too small for the five of us for a long trip. Not crazy over the feel we got when we visited PBH but the large rooms could draw us over.

Right now we are looking at HRH regular room, HRH deluxe room and HRH CL.

I'm disappointed that HRH is no longer part of the You First so I need to add that into the equation. From what I read, if you stay CL the fitness club is free. What about wifi? Also does anyone know what the regular price of the cabanas are and how much of a discount you get if you stay CL?

We've done CL many times at Disney and started to think that we really don't use it as much as we did when the kids are small. However, the difference between a HRH deluxe room and HRH CL is only $300 for the whole ten days. Does anyone know how many deluxe rooms there are in CL and what would be the best way to request one?

One more question - the kids and I are probably going to the the 14 day US/IOA/Wet and Wild pass from UT and get DH an AP to US/IOA and AP to Wet and Wild so we can avoid paying the parking fee. We are also all getting the DIscovery COve package. Can you tell me if the AP discounts for July are usually better than the Stay more/Save more package they are currently offering?

Sorry for so many questions - just so torn.

Thank you so much!

you do have the $18 per night charge for hotel parking when you have a car and stay onsite.

for those that do not stay onsite, AP waives garage/parking on the second stay.

it's been a couple of years since hrh was dropped from the loews youfirst, but that hotel can still apply AAA, and other promos for room discounts.

not sure what they will be offering 12 months for now.

i have stayed at hrh in standard, deluxe and king suite rooms club level.
the lounge is smaller than the other two onsite hotels but basically has the same set up for offerings and open hours.

for the $300 difference, go with the club.
you would get a discount on the cabana rental, free wifi, free fitness club when staying club.

stay non club and wifi is $9.99 per set 24 hour period.
(doesn't necessary go from midnight start period)

if you have specific dates for your trip 12 months out, book now at the rack rate.
you can call and modify your room rate ressie when promos are available.

HP2 opens next summer so i expect some of the hotels will book out early.

book room only and not a package at this point.
there are $50 fees involved when you make changes on a package.
no charge on changes for room only reservations.

if a special HP2 package is created for the opening next summer, you can always switch your r/o to a package.

what you want to do is to secure your hotel and room in advance before harry potter comes back to town with his additions.

you can make a request for a specific room type/deluxe, but call the hotel direct to try to secure it.

Thanks!

Yes we are planning on booking this week since I can book the stay more/play more room only or July 2014.

Any idea of how much of a discount you get on the cabanas if you stay club level?
