We will be at Disney for 9 days. DD has talked me into one day at US. My only objevtive will be to see the Harry Potter area. What is your best advice? We will not be on US property and all I want to do is go to HP ride the two big attraction rides and then leave as earl as possible. Not grumpy about it at all just know mt game plan. For example we have a disney dining plan and want to make sure we make our res.

Plan to be at Islands of Adventure early, realistically atleast 30 minutes before park opening, and as soon as your in make your way to Harry Potter as quickly as possible and expect it to be busy and expect to queue.

The area fills up extremely quick and even early on in the morning it can be too busy for some folk. Personally, I wouldnt go in with a timescale set as to what time you want to leave, as things normally take longer than expected. But as long as your patient and willing to spend a bit of time queuing, it is well worth it!

Another point I feel I want to make, without criticising or digging at your post is that in my opinion, the price of park entry is not worth it if your only willing to explore Harry Potter. Im not sure if you have ever visited Islands of Adventure before, but if you havent I really do suggest you make time for atleast close to a full day at the park. Being a massive lover of WDW I cant hide from the fact that Islands of Adventure blows away anything at any of the Disney parks, It really is superb! I know many people who are Walt disney world veterans who had never ventured over to Universal/Islands of Adventure, but once they have, they love it! Its just a suggestion that I thought i'd bring up to you, and since your paying for the whole park, it may be worth it for you to plan to spend a bit of time at other areas of the park, especially if you already have 9 days at Disney.

Anyway, sorry for drifting away from your question. Hope everything works out and you have a great time!

Knowing when you are going makes a big difference. In slow times, you can probably spend your $85 and be done in an hour. Make sure you plan to spend some time in the shops as they are wonderful and your daughter will surely want a wand or two and maybe some jewelry or themed t-shirts.

I completely agree with the above.

Also not trying to criticise but if DD wants to spend "a day" at IOA and you are paying for entry then why not make the most of it? Appreciate you might need to make it back for a dinner reservation but if you rush too much it isn'y going to be much fun :confused3

I agree, IOA has some of the best rides in the US (if not the world!). With rides like Spiderman and Jurrasic Park, you will be missing out on a lot of what you pay for to get in. Instead of just going to see HP, you should try and do some of the other amazing rides and shows they have inside the park. Get there about 20-30 minutes before the park opens to make sure you are near the front of the line waiting to get in. Then just follow the crowd to HP. The park normally opens at 9am. You should be done with HP around noon or even sooner. I would then go and explore the other rides and areas of the park until 4 or 5 before leaving. I understand you have the Dining Plan, so leaving around 4 or 5 will allow you time to get back to the Disney area to have a nice meal. Spending $85 per person just to see one area of the park is crazy. That would be like paying $85 at MK just to go see Tomorrowland and then leave. Since you have never been, I would get the most out of your money and explore the other areas. I am sure you will love it.

There are five of us going - DS20 DS17 DD15 DW

We are going from July 1 t0 10. We are going to spend one day at Cocoa Beach and I am not expecting to do too much on the fourth given the crowds. So the IOA day make three of the nine out of Disney. My DD really wants to see HP so I was trying to figure out the least amount of time and still be in vacation mode. We have been to IOA before and we will try to see other things but HP is the only must see.

Thanks for your ideas - How would you tour if we got there 30 minutes prior to opening and left about 3:00 pm

Go directly to the Wizarding World and do the Ollivander's show. After that go to Hogwarts and ask to do the castle tour. After that get in the single rider's line for the ride. After that, do Flight of the Hippogriff and other coasters if desired. Tour Hogsmeade. Drink Butterbeer. Go back to Disney.

I like this idea, except for the castle part (all of it is perfect if going alone though). Instead of doing the tour, then the single rider line (because your party would be split up), just hop in the regular line. You'll still get to see all of the main rooms of the castle, plus even more details.

Good luck with this plan.:thumbsup2

Right before the last movie opens and the week of July 4? You're going to be facing huge crowds in WDW I would think, but nothing like what I have a hunch WWOHP will be like.

Yes but the regular line may be 90 minutes by then. This way the castle tour can be done in about 10-15 and then singles are usually that or under. Since you can't see each other on the ride anyways, it shouldn't make a difference since none of them are children.
