OK, maybe I am not looking in the right spots...I am going to GO in the 18th...is there any info on who/where and such things are taking place...I have no clue on what to expect

I'm also going during the grand opening. Nothing official has been announced about it though. People are reporting different information but here's the information that I have heard thus far (though I can't say any of it is correct).

The parking deck on the 18th is opening around 5:30am. If any cars are left over night on the 17th, they will be towed. They are expecting full capcity (30,000 or so). They have placed screens all around Island of Adventure to boardcast the opening since only 9,000 people will be able to be in WWOHP at one time. However according to Behind the Thrills, Park guests will not be allowed into the area until after the grand opening ceremony. Another website reported GP wouldn't be able to enter WWOHP until 10am that day.

James and Oliver Phelps, Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Rupert Grint, and Gabon have all been reported to be coming. Rumors are still flying around whether JK, Emma Waston and Bonnie Wright will be there.

Again, this is information I have read on different new sites and fourms. Nothing has been officially announced by Universal.

That is good information. More than I have heard. Im going to be there as part of the general public so I hope we can actually get into WWOHP to see some of the events before 10am, instead of watching on a screen. No matter what though it will be awsome just to say we were there on opening day!

For those that are going - have a great time, I'm a little envious but at the same I'm glad I'm not there because it's going to be a madhouse :lmao:

wow, if the info is true..what a great opening day!!:dance3:

I wish I could be there, but just as the prior poster said....what a madhouse!!

god luck to all of those 30,000 or so that do attend I wish you all the best!:yay: :woohoo:

we were gonna go opening day, but are planning to go on Sunday instead...hoping the chaos is slightly less that GO day.

According to Orlando United, they are having a private evening opening for VIPs only on the 16th and 17th after closing. This will be invitation only. However, they are having a firework show thoses night and you should be able to see some of it from city walk or from hotel rooms that face towards the castle. Again, not sure if it is true.

Well, poo!!! When are they going to announce it then????

I would like to plan my agenda!!!!!

Just got here this afternoon and there is a desk set up for registration for all the grand opening guests, as well as tons of staff all around the hotel to answer any questions. Lots of extra security also-even the boat captain was surprised to see a convoy of about 8 bicycle security guys ride by! (We are staying at the Portofino). Spoke to one of the event coordinators who confirmed it will be very difficult to see anything on Friday and said we are smart to be going in the morning (Wednesday). My kids can't wait!

Are you sure Potter will open tomorrow? I had read that there may not be any soft openings on Wed. and Thu. because of the VIP parties later those evenings.

(Which stinks for me, because I had booked the 17th at the HRH under the assumption that Potter would still open THAT day at 8am for guests, and figuring there would be no hotel perks on the 18th).

I did the same thing about booked on the 17th thinking we would have access on the 17th. I'm a little mad cause the reservations confirmed that I would have access about a month ago. I guess things changed. Oh well.

Just got conformation...

JK Rowling will NOT BE in attendance on 6/18..she was there earlier this week, but will not be attending GO

this was posted by Damo on another thread earlier today.......

So if you are staying onsite you should be able to get in.

ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is NOT open to any day guests today or tomorrow. It is only open to hotel onsite guests and media.

I'm a little confused...the stars of the movies are there now and there's live stream going on at 9:30 tonight.
So are they going to be there on the 6/18 Grand Opening as well??
Why are they doing it tonight? Am I missing something?:confused3

Tonight's event is a preview by invite only, celebs, etc, whereas Friday's event will be open to the public. No word on who from the cast will be there for both.

We are flying down tomorrow as well. We are leaving from Columbus taking a Southwest flight. You?

Have fun!!!!

Yes, tonight's event was for VIP's and media. I'm so glad for twitter and live streaming. Just watching it got me even more excited!

To those of you going to the GO, good luck and have fun! If my daughter wasn't 3, I would be right there with you all facing the madness! :wizard: Hubby and I decided to wait till Oct (our birthdays), hopefully it'll be calmer, but it would be so tempting to go over the summer since we live 1 1/2 hours away!
