HP&FJ intense?

I've seen this ride referred to as "intense" in many posts. Can someone please explain what is meant by intense? My dd is a huge Harry Potter fan, but is a pretty big ride wimp. She will ride the scariest water slides, but won't go near a roller coaster. I guess I'm wondering if it's the effects that are intense, i.e. Motion sickness-wise, or physically intense like a roller coaster. I don't want to scare her off from all rides for the rest of our trip! Thanks!!

The ride it self is very smooth, and the seats are quite suitable. While I would not call it roller coaster levels of intense. The carriage is tilted forwards and backwards to quite high degrees. If do a google image search for Harry Potter and the forbidden journey, they have some good pics of the ride carriages.
It does not have any sudden jolts and would say feels more like sitting on a giant waving hand (a royal wave rather than a hyperactive kids wave).

The ride makes use of 3d glasses, so is a good sign that it is not gonna be a wild ride.

My mum loved it and she hates white knuckle rides, heck she almost slapped me when I tricked her to going on the Jurrasic Park ride

would say Escape from Gringotts is a bit more intense as it is an actual runaway mine train style ride but even that was not "intense" imo

When they say 'intense' I think they're referring to the section where there are some spiders around (just shut your eyes if you're arachnophobic). The ride itself is pretty tame - but great!

There are some close physical elements from the books/movies, like spiders, dementors, etc. If she was afraid of those in the books/movies, then the ride will be intense to her.

I have only ridden it one time but most of the intensity if visual not physical. There are several high speed flying movies that can cause motion sickness in some people. As others have said, the motions are not as jerky as say Star Tours.

The ride itself is very smooth and you do feel like you're flying, but I find I have to close my eyes within the first minute or so because I get really nauseous, much more so than other rides. The spiders and Dementors are pretty close to your face, but those parts pass quickly. I like it quite a bit, even with my eyes closed for most of it.

Forbidden Journey doesn't use 3D glasses - or at least it didn't last year. Most of the effects are actual animatronic models, not just video screens.

You're right they don't have 3D glasses on that ride.

To op........I find it quite bad for motion sickness if she is prone to that, I also find when it jerks you back i personally feel it quite jerky......others May not. I can ride coasters with no motion sickness issues but this and The Simpsons make me nauseous........but I can do FJ once or twice before it kicks in usually.

Everyone reacts differently to rides, so unless she rides she'll never know but it's nowhere near as intense as a real coaster like The Hulk for example.

I hope she enjoys it if she does it

As a big motion sickness sufferer, I avoid FJ and the Simpsons entirely, but I'd love to take in Gringotts if I can.

Gina, I was fine with Gringotts ride.......did it numerous times in a row with single rider many times and not a single feeling of motion sickness.

I seem to be ok with simulator type rides that have 3D glasses.......so I'm ok with things like Despicable Me and Spider-Man, but the Simpsons is a huge massive definite never again Funnily enough I'm fine with all the coasters.......except on the back of RRR.........always ask for the front of that.

FJ is the only ride I've ever been on that is close to giving me motion sickness. I feel like it's really warm on the actual ride. That factor plus the motion does get to me some. I'm usually good with only riding it once per trip.

Yup you are completely right, for some unknown reason had a thought of picking up glasses in the corridor between the greenhouse and the stairwell to the headmasters office.

Star tours is more intense, this is smooth and not fast movements. I dont do roller coasters, i love this ride

When we rode Gringotts , there were 3 in our party who suffered from motion sickness on FJ to varying degrees the day before. Not one of them had any trouble with Gringotts and all loved the ride. It is one of my favorites at US
